Infectious Sessions 019

Hear Drake “Hotline Bling” and the original sample “Timmy Thomas – Why can’t we live together“

For this cover version Dr!ve (a London Producer and Singer) worked from “Timmy Thomas – Why can’t we live together“ original, which was sampled for “Drake’s – Hotline Bling”. Starting out wanting to simply make a club edit of Timmy Thomas’s amazing song. He ended up only using sampling parts of the original with Drake’s vocals. This is certainly a take on “Hotline Bling” that we haven’t heard yet! Furthermore Dr!ve created a youtube version of this track using one of the originals live performance videos where the inspiration for Drakes Music Video is clearly visible. Firstly the very particular dance then the colors and also the wardrobe of the female dancers are just very similar. Check out Dr!ve’s Youtube channel for more Infos.

Hotline Bling: “A cover like no other“ smooth disco/funk/nu-disco groove

The concept behind the music project Dr!ve revolves around the idea of what motivates human beings to create and makes us get up in the morning. It is music that infuses and stimulates Drive. Dr!ve started out early in music. With another music group he toured Switzerland got a record contract, several awards and toured across Switzerland and Germany since the age of 14. After this experience he wanted to mature musically and incorporate more singing and more electronic sounds, such as synthesizers, drum machines and analogue equipment. He also wanted to incorporate the guitar, an instrument he learned to play from an early age. With this project he released single with several labels and is in the process of making an album. He Djs regularly and makes mixes with his friend Dj Bowser.

“Mixes are time capsules of sound. Each capturing a moment in time that will not be repeated the same way. Each mix is meant to transport the listener in their own time machine to their own destination. These are soundtracks for daily living…” – MarkFarina
