Toronto is the largest city in Canada and the provincial capital of Ontario. It is located in Southern Ontario on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. The history of Toronto began in the late 18th century when the British Crown purchased its land from the Mississaugas of the New Credit. The British established a settlement there, called the Town of York, which its lieutenant governor, John Graves Simcoe, designated as the capital of Upper Canada. The city was ransacked in the Battle of York during the War of 1812. In 1834, York was incorporated as a city and renamed Toronto.

Welcome to Ottawa, Ontario, where you’ll find charming old-world buildings surrounded by picturesque natural beauty.
The first stop on an Ottawa tour should be the Rideau Canal. This waterway cuts the city in half, and it provides places for boating and paddleboarding during the summer. Visiting in winter? Not a problem—you can go ice skating along the Rideau when it ices over. On the south side of the river, you can see the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at Parliament Hill. A few blocks to the north is the National Gallery of Canada, a stunning glass-and-granite building ful

Located on the Niagara River, which drains Lake Erie into Lake Ontario, the combined falls form the highest flow rate of any waterfall in the world, with a vertical drop of more than 165 feet (50 m). Horseshoe Falls is the most powerful waterfall in North America, as measured by vertical height and also by flow rate. The falls are located 17 miles (27 km) north-northwest of Buffalo, New York and 75 miles (121 km) south-southeast of Toronto, between the twin cities of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, New York.
This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. If you want to save time and money, the most important Niagara Falls travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. Niagara Falls is the collective name for three waterfalls that straddle the international border between Canada and the United States; more specifically, between the province of Ontario and the state of New York. They form the southern end of the Niagara Gorge.
From largest to smallest, the three waterfalls are the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls. The Horseshoe Falls lie on the Canadian side and the American Falls on the American side, separated by Goat Island. The smaller Bridal Veil Falls are also located on the American side, separated from the other waterfalls by Luna Island. The international boundary line was originally drawn through Horseshoe Falls in 1819, but the boundary has long been in dispute due to natural erosion and construction.

A few blocks to the north is the National Gallery of Canada, a stunning glass-and-granite building full of art from Canadian, European, and other North American artists.
You’ll be hungry after all this walking around, so head to ByWard Market. If you see beavertails, don’t worry; they’re a pastry, not part of an actual beaver—and they’re delicious. ByWard Market also has some of the best fresh produce you’ll ever taste, so stock up on fruits and vegetables while you’re there.
After sampling the fare at ByWard Market, cross the river to visit the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec. This is where you can tour recreations of Old Canada: explore 1800s storefronts, wander into log cabins, and learn about the First Nations people who inhabited Canada for thousands of years prior to European settlement.
Round out your trip with a venture to Gatineau Park, where you can relax by the lake or take tea in the MacKenzie King estate.

Welcome to Toronto, the largest city in Canada and a hub of trade and culture.
“The City That Works” is full of a can-do spirit that is reflected in its buildings. From the famous CN Tower to the castle-like Casa Loma, there’s all sorts of eye candy for the architecture enthusiast. Your Toronto tour should include a trip to Edward Gardens in Hyde Park, or one of the many other green spaces located in the city. Take a bike ride along the trails, or enjoy a picnic while the local chipmunks look on. Don’t drop anything; they’ll grab it.
Your Toronto sightseeing can continue at the Harborfront Center. Go for a walk along the marina, or grab a pint at a brewhouse. And no trip to Toronto is complete without a visit to the Hockey Hall of Fame, so make sure you’ve got your team paraphernalia in order before you venture inside. Looking for shopping? You’ll find the Underground City and Kensington Market ready to welcome you and your credit card – or several credit cards, as the case may be. After a day of madcap purchasing, why not stock up on fresh, healthy food at the St. Lawrence Market? You’ll have worked up quite an appetite for delicious local produce.
Before you leave, head to Niagara Falls and take in the spectacle of nature’s power. You’ll never forget the sight and sound of all that water pouring over the falls, nor will you ever forget your trip to Toronto.

‘EPIC IS ON’ this summer in Ontario, when our province hosts the largest sport tourism event in our history – and the best way to witness the power of sport is to be there. Share the highs of winning a gold for your country, the thrill of a close race and the camaraderie of 7,500 athletes from 41 countries and territories competing in 51 sports. Celebrate the competitions as a fan at the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games and experience Ontario’s exciting tourism attractions and destinations as a visitor at the same time.
‘Get Ready’ is the second spot in the campaign from Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership in support of sport tourism during the Pan Am/Parapan Am games.
While the first commercial ‘Invade’ featured athletes invading Ontario to dramatize the intensity of their training, this new :60 ad, ‘Get Ready’, is focused on the fans. It showcases their excitement and the emotions associated with supporting the athletes, who in many cases are from other Pan American countries. This pays homage to the diversity of Ontarians who represent each of the 41 countries that are competing in the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games, and call this wonderful province ‘home’.

Wrik Mead has accumulated a unique body of more than forty animated miniature narratives: queer fantasies, parables, dreams, and even documentaries. His films are psycho-dramatic by inclination, first person narratives of desire and accommodation. They're a mix of painstaking animation, fairy-tale allegory and queer-identity.
Wrik graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1988 with honours and recently returned to his studies in 2004 to receive his MA Fine Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London (UK). James Bartleman: "The Aboriginal Canadian as Outsider"
Honourable James K. Bartleman presents, "The Aboriginal Canadian as Outsider" featuring a discussion of his first two novels, As Long as the Rivers Flow (2011) and The Redemption of Oscar Wolf (2013). Bartleman also discusses his forthcoming novel, Exceptional Circumstances, which deals with international terrorism and will be released by Dundurn next spring, but is now available for pre-order on Amazon. On one level, this third novel is a fast paced story of love and espionage. On another, in the words of one review, "it brings us face to face with crucial current debates about torture, national security, citizenship and standing up for human rights in the post-9/11 world."
Born in Orillia, Ontario, Mr. Bartleman grew up in Port Carling, and is a member of the Mnjikaning First Nation. He concluded his term as the 27th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario on 5 September 2007. During his time in office, he pursued three priorities: eliminating the stigma of mental illness, supporting anti-racism initiatives and encouraging Aboriginal young people. As Lieutenant Governor, Mr. Bartleman implemented four aboriginal literacy programs including The Club Amick Reading Program for 5,000 native children and 36 summer reading camps for 2,500 children in Ontario’s north. The programs are continuing for five years.
Preceding his appointment as Ontario’s Vice-Regal Representative, Mr. Bartleman served 35 years in Canada’s Foreign Service as Ambassador to Cuba, Israel, NATO and the European Union. He also served as High Commissioner to South Africa and Australia, and was Foreign and Defence Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister. He holds ten honorary degrees (one from Western) and is the recipient of a number of honours and awards, including the National Aboriginal Achievement Award 1999, the Phi Delta Kappa Educator of the Year Award 2004 and the Arthur Kroeger College Award in Ethics in Public Affairs 2007.
Mr. Bartleman is the author of five books and donates all book royalties to the causes he promoted as Lieutenant Governor. He has been the Chancellor of The Ontario College of Art and Design, and is a member of the Blue Ribbon Panel on the future of Medical Education in Canada, a visiting fellow to Laurentian University's Aboriginal Studies Program, and honorary patron to a number of organizations and causes.
This talk is generously sponsored by Indigenous Services at Western University.

The most important places to visit in Toronto are: Niagara Falls (located an hour and a half away from Toronto, awe-inspiring Niagara Falls attracts visitors from around the world), CN Tower (dominating Toronto's skyline, this communication tower stands at a staggering 1,815 feet. Spectacular Toronto views await you at the top), Old City Hall (an important historic landmark of Toronto. It too nearly 20 years to complete its construction in 1899), Royal Ontario Museum (Canada's largest museum of world culture. You can see impressive artifacts and archeological objects from around the world), Casa Loma (a magnificent castle on a hill in the north end of Toronto. Visitors are treated well in restored rooms and gardens) and many more.
This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. If you want to save time and money, the most important Toronto travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

What’s your favorite part of Ottawa?

Walker in which Walker encourages students at the Ontario College of Art & Design to embrace 19th century linocut printmaking techniques to create extended visual narratives which are then scanned, digitized, and subsequently printed offset for publication at popular prices in a format that uses 20th century offset printing technology to replicate the look and `feel' of a 19th century letterpress product.

He currently lives and works in Toronto. He was recently appointed Chair of Media & Installation Art at OCAD University.
