Kidspot Things To Do

LEGO and Disney team up - Mickey, Minnie, Ariel and Aladdin, welcome to LEGO town!

But it may take a few trips to the shops before you get the ones you want …

There’s no denying that Disney has a special power over kids. So just imagine the bedlam that will ensue when that power joins forces with imagination steam engine LEGO.

Well, it has now been confirmed that on 1 May this year, that’s precisely what will happen … and all your kid’s playtime dreams will come true. LEGO is set to launch a range of 18 Disney character miniatures that will be available in LEGO stores nationwide and online. Good thing there’s a LEGO theme park set to open up in Australia soon, huh?

Which characters make the cut?

From the huge library of excellent Disney films, which characters are being made into collectables?

Well, tick off the classics: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck.

Mickey Lego
You can’t beat a classic, kids.

Then the ones that will take you straight back to your own childhood, like Alice and the Cheshire Cat, all the way from Wonderland, Peter Pan and Captain Hook, Maleficent, Ariel and Ursula, the Genie, and every 90s girl’s favourite animation, Aladdin.

Alice Lego
We’re loving Alice’s ‘Drink Me’ bottle and cookie accessories.

Newer releases get a look-in too, with Mr Incredible and his nemesis Syndrome, lovable Stitch (minus his sidekick Lilo), Buzz Lightyear (minus his sidekick Woody) … and a Pizza Planet Alien.

Buzz LegoBuzz is flying solo without Woody in the LEGO collection.

We can only assume that if this goes well we will enjoy numerous follow-up Disney/LEGO releases. I mean, what kid wouldn’t be desperate for a miniature Elsa or Olaf? Or a LEGO Nemo and Dory?

Now for the twist …

Apparently, they’re set to come in lucky dip ‘blind bags’ - meaning that if kids don’t get the ones they want, they’ll be begging you to buy endless bags until they get the exact one they have to haaaaaaaave.
