Activity
To begin, get the dough to the heart shaped cookies started. Make sure you get the kids to help you out with the measuring on this, too, as there are some great lessons to learn here!
Roll the dough out and begin cutting, reserving a small amount of dough to make the maths signs. Addition, multiplication, subtraction and division. Depending on the age of your children, you might like to stick to only one or two of these signs. Remember, the rest of the cookies don't have to be hearts, they can be any shape you like!
Continue with the recipe. Bake, cool then ice!
Once the cookies are finished, the real fun begins. We've produced a worksheet for the kids to complete while the cookies are baking, then you can make them up as you go along. The correct answer of the sums keeps a cookie. The maths only stops when the winner counts their cookies at the end!
