Coldplay, Beyonce, and Bruno Mars celebrated 50 years of Super Bowl halftime shows — and Beyoncé’s new single “Formation” — during Super Bowl 50 on Sunday.
The trio of performers collaborated on a number of songs throughout the show, with headliner Coldplay kicking things off. Martin started the performance by crouching on the field as men and women, dressed in dark clothing, ran toward the stage. His band then ripped through “Viva La Vida” and “Paradise,” before playing their new single “Adventure of a Lifetime.” (Coldplay was joined members of the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles during the performance.)
“Wherever you are, we’re in this together,” Martin said during “Viva La Vida.”

A Super Bowl halftime show whose early going promised to make it one of the franchise’s worst ever managed to evolve, briskly, into something far more interesting; a meta-commentary on various star personas and on the Super Bowl halftime show itself.
The segment of the show belonging solely to Coldplay was the set’s worst. Though the band was the halftime show’s notional headliners, it was the least relevant-seeming of the three acts onstage. Bruno Mars and Beyoncé had been invited, the language around the show suggested, as a nod to the franchise’s “history,” and yet they felt far more urgent and intriguing than the British band, whose act was also plagued by significant audio problems. Lead singer Chris Martin’s onstage leaps felt like an attempt to gin up the sort of enthusiasm that Mars, with the opening bars of his hit “Uptown Funk,” generated organically.
Mars and Beyoncé are a part of halftime show history, sure, but it’s very recent history. They performed on the world’s biggest stage two and three years ago, respectively. (One wonders whether Katy Perry, last year’s headliner, felt snubbed.) Before the show began, I was among those who questioned what, exactly, the pair of performers were thinking: Beyoncé in particular seemed to have said everything she needed to say with a refined and incredibly ambitious Super Bowl solo set. Why tempt the fates by going for a second act, as someone else’s support?

Super Bowl 42 is widely regarded as one of greatest upsets in NFL history. The Patriots set numerous offensive records while going undefeated throughout the season, whereas the Giants were 10-6 and looked like a team marked with inconsistency. However, the Giants elite pass rush and uncanny play from quarterback Eli Manning would prove to be enough to defeat the Patriots in the biggest game of the season.

The Packers came into the 2010 playoffs as a wildcard team, but played like a top seed, ripping through the NFC conference playoffs behind masterful play from upstart quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Their opponent was the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team that had won 2 Super Bowl's in the previous 5 years. The Packers got off to an early lead and never looked back, notching a 31-25 victory which awarded the team its 4th Super Bowl title. The game also solidified Aaron Rodgers as one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, and allowed him to step out of the shadow of Brett Favre.

She’s on the right track baby…and she’s headed straight for the Super Bowl, or at least that’s the word on the street.
If the big man upstairs has been listening to our prayers then it seems like these rumors of Lady Gaga performing at the superbowl might be about to be a reality.
FULL SCREEN – According to several sources, including Billboard, Gaga is in talks to play the concert of all concerts – the Superbowl halftime show. Keep in mind, this honor is reserved for only the top of the top. We’re talking Madonna, Coldplay, Katy Perry, U2, Bruno Mars and yes, duh, Beyonce. This isn’t exactly an honor that’s passed out to up and coming artists and Adele already said she’s not into doing the Superbowl gig. That said, Gaga would be the perfect choice to hit the stage in 2017 at NRG stadium in Houston, Texas. And apparently after she absolutely nailed it with the National Anthem to open last year’s big game, the NFL has become somewhat of a Little Monster fangirl. When asked about whether or not the Gaga rumor could be true the NFL said this: "We have had conversations with several fantastic artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, at this point we do not have a final decision. We’re happy there is so much excitement about the show."
So….it sounds like that’s a yes? Okay it’s totally not a yes, but I’m secreting this into existence. Plus, Gaga is about to have a huge year. She just released a new single “Perfect Illusion” which will be from her next album and she revealed to Elvis Duran that the release is coming “really soon.”
IF this isn’t true, my heart might be breaking just a little bit but I have major hope and I think Gaga would slay this game. What do you guys think? Super Bowl
The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL), the highest level of professional football in the United States. The game culminates a season that begins in the late summer of the previous calendar year. Normally, Roman numerals are used to identify each game, rather than the year in which it is held. For example, Super Bowl I was played on January 15, 1967, following the 1966 regular season. The single exception to this rule is Super Bowl 50, which was played on February 7, 2016, following the 2015 regular season.
The game was created as part of a merger agreement between the NFL and its then-rival league, the American Football League (AFL). It was agreed that the two leagues' champion teams would play in the AFL–NFL World Championship Game until the merger was to officially begin in 1970. After the merger, each league was redesignated as a "conference", and the game has since been played between the conference champions to determine the NFL's league champion. Currently, the National Football Conference (NFC) leads the league with 26 wins to 23 wins for the American Football Conference (AFC). The Pittsburgh Steelers have the most Super Bowl victories with six.

If the big man upstairs has been listening to our prayers then it seems like these rumors of Lady Gaga performing at the superbowl might be about to be a reality. FULL SCREEN – According to several sources, including Billboard, Gaga is in talks to play the concert of all concerts – the Superbowl halftime show. Keep in mind, this honor is reserved for only the top of the top. We’re talking Madonna, Coldplay, Katy Perry, U2, Bruno Mars and yes, duh, Beyonce. This isn’t exactly an honor that’s passed out to up and coming artists and Adele already said she’s not into doing the Superbowl gig. That said, Gaga would be the perfect choice to hit the stage in 2017 at NRG stadium in Houston, Texas. And apparently after she absolutely nailed it with the National Anthem to open last year’s big game, the NFL has become somewhat of a Little Monster fangirl. When asked about whether or not the Gaga rumor could be true the NFL said this: "We have had conversations with several fantastic artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, at this point we do not have a final decision. We’re happy there is so much excitement about the show." So….it sounds like that’s a yes? Okay it’s totally not a yes, but I’m secreting this into existence. Plus, Gaga is about to have a huge year. She just released a new single “Perfect Illusion” which will be from her next album and she revealed to Elvis Duran that the release is coming “really soon.” IF this isn’t true, my heart might be breaking just a little bit but I have major hope and I think Gaga would slay this game. Coldplay, Beyonce, and Bruno Mars celebrated 50 years of Super Bowl halftime shows — and Beyoncé’s new single “Formation” — during Super Bowl 50 on Sunday.
The trio of performers collaborated on a number of songs throughout the show, with headliner Coldplay kicking things off. Martin started the performance by crouching on the field as men and women, dressed in dark clothing, ran toward the stage. His band then ripped through “Viva La Vida” and “Paradise,” before playing their new single “Adventure of a Lifetime.” (Coldplay was joined members of the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles during the performance.)
“Wherever you are, we’re in this together,” Martin said during “Viva La Vida.”

A Super Bowl halftime show whose early going promised to make it one of the franchise’s worst ever managed to evolve, briskly, into something far more interesting; a meta-commentary on various star personas and on the Super Bowl halftime show itself.
The segment of the show belonging solely to Coldplay was the set’s worst. Though the band was the halftime show’s notional headliners, it was the least relevant-seeming of the three acts onstage. Bruno Mars and Beyoncé had been invited, the language around the show suggested, as a nod to the franchise’s “history,” and yet they felt far more urgent and intriguing than the British band, whose act was also plagued by significant audio problems. Lead singer Chris Martin’s onstage leaps felt like an attempt to gin up the sort of enthusiasm that Mars, with the opening bars of his hit “Uptown Funk,” generated organically.
Mars and Beyoncé are a part of halftime show history, sure, but it’s very recent history. They performed on the world’s biggest stage two and three years ago, respectively. (One wonders whether Katy Perry, last year’s headliner, felt snubbed.) Before the show began, I was among those who questioned what, exactly, the pair of performers were thinking: Beyoncé in particular seemed to have said everything she needed to say with a refined and incredibly ambitious Super Bowl solo set. Why tempt the fates by going for a second act, as someone else’s support?

The game also solidified Aaron Rodgers as one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, and allowed him to step out of the shadow of Brett Favre.

If the big man upstairs has been listening to our prayers then it seems like these rumors of Lady Gaga performing at the superbowl might be about to be a reality.
FULL SCREEN – According to several sources, including Billboard, Gaga is in talks to play the concert of all concerts – the Superbowl halftime show. Keep in mind, this honor is reserved for only the top of the top. We’re talking Madonna, Coldplay, Katy Perry, U2, Bruno Mars and yes, duh, Beyonce. This isn’t exactly an honor that’s passed out to up and coming artists and Adele already said she’s not into doing the Superbowl gig. That said, Gaga would be the perfect choice to hit the stage in 2017 at NRG stadium in Houston, Texas. She’s on the right track baby…and she’s headed straight for the Super Bowl, or at least that’s the word on the street.
If the big man upstairs has been listening to our prayers then it seems like these rumors of Lady Gaga performing at the superbowl might be about to be a reality.
FULL SCREEN – According to several sources, including Billboard, Gaga is in talks to play the concert of all concerts – the Superbowl halftime show. Keep in mind, this honor is reserved for only the top of the top. We’re talking Madonna, Coldplay, Katy Perry, U2, Bruno Mars and yes, duh, Beyonce. This isn’t exactly an honor that’s passed out to up and coming artists and Adele already said she’s not into doing the Superbowl gig. That said, Gaga would be the perfect choice to hit the stage in 2017 at NRG stadium in Houston, Texas.
