Police Inspector Daniel Bragg alleged the "somewhat agitated" man pushed the intercom button at the back of the building and told the watchhouse keeper he wanted to surrender.

"He also indicated to the watchhouse keeper that he had a loaded sawn-off shotgun inside his pants," Inspector Bragg said.

Police Inspector Daniel Bragg praised two railway squad officers who made the arrest.

"The actions of these two officers were extremely heroic given it unfolded within seconds," he told reporters.

"And they immediately raced to the scene knowing full well that this male was handing himself in for quite serious offences and had a loaded firearm down the front of his pants."

"The Angels above will be with u now and take care off (sic) the G unit."
