Cleveland Youth Detention Centre employee, Grant Oaklands, was hit by a projectile and lost vision in his eye during a riot.
 
Grant is one of many Youth Workers that sustained life long physical and mental trauma.

Cleveland Youth Detention Centre has since regained control, but left in the aftermath are numerous staff that require medical and psychological help so they can regain their mental stability and physical well being.

On Saturday March 5 2016, 43-year-old Sergeant Geoffrey Richardson, was killed when his police car crashed into a tree in the Hunter Valley.Sergeant Richardson had been driving to assist colleagues who were engaged in a pursuit. 

 

He had been a dedicated NSW Police officer for 18 years and leaves behind his wife, Senior Constable Margaret King, and their two young sons. 

 

The Police Association of NSW (PANSW), in conjunction with NSW Police Legacy, has set up a fund for the family.

Caroline is a 47-year-old widowed mother of four children. Three have been diagnosed with autism and intellectual disabilities. Two years ago, Caroline lost her husband to cancer. Less than a year later, Caroline was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She’s currently in remission.

 

One of her children has unfortunately become extremely violent and uncontrollable. In fits of rage he destroyed parts of the house, causing thousands of dollars’ worth of damages.

This is an incredibly sad story about a family in Macksville, on the NSW Mid North Coast.

 

Xander was born in 2009. He was initially a healthy baby but his health deteriorated rapidly. After countless tests, Xander was diagnosed with Facnconi Anemia, a genetic disease that is extremely rare. There are fewer than 40 cases in Australia.  

 

A number of complications led to Xander’s bone marrow beginning to fail. 

 

To improve his health, doctors advised he needed a perfect bone marrow match and the best option would be marrow from a sibling. Xander...

Gary & his wife Tracy have 4 children, Chloe, Joshua, Ben & Shania. On the 18th Nov 2013, Tracy and Chloe were involved in a single vehicle accident, Tracy was taken to Liverpool Hospital & Chloe to Westmead, both critical.

Their other children were being cared for by grandparents Neville & Narelle.

On Sat 7th Dec, on their way to Sydney, the unimaginable happened, Neville & Narelle were involved in a head on accident with their 2 young grandchildren on board.
