The African rock python (Python sebae) is a large, nonvenomous snake of sub-Saharan Africa. It is one of 11 living species in the genus Python. It has two subspecies; one is found in Central and Western Africa, the other in Southern Africa.
Africa's largest snake and if natal python is regarded its subspecies, then the whole species, python sebae, will may be the world's fourth largest snake on earth (both in terms of length and weight), specimens may approach or exceed 6 m (20 ft). The southern subspecies is generally smaller than its northern relative. The snake is found in a variety of habitats, from forests to near deserts, although usually near sources of water. The African rock python kills its prey by constriction and often eats animals up to the size of antelope, occasionally even crocodiles. The snake reproduces by egg-laying. Unlike most snakes, the female protects her nest and sometimes even her hatchlings.
The snake is widely feared, though it very rarely kills humans. Although the snake is not endangered, it does face threats from habitat reduction and hunting.

Rock Python (M'Gula) is a fictional character, a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is usually depicted as a member of the Serpent Society. He first appeared in Captain America vol. 1 #341 in May 1988, created by writer Mark Gruenwald and artist Kieron Dwyer. He has super hard bones, skin and muscles and uses specially designed handgrenades that entangle his opponents in steel ribbons.
He was first introduced as a henchman of Viper as she took control of the Serpent Society, deposing Sidewinder as the leader of the Society. Viper's ploy to take control of the United States was foiled by Captain America and members of the Society still loyal to Sidewinder. Rock Python was allowed to remain with the Society after Viper was defeated. He became a member of Serpent Solutions when the Society was reorganized.
M'Gula was born in Viceroy, Rudyarda, South Africa. As Rock Python he first joined the Serpent Society when the villainous Viper invaded, and battled Nomad. After she abandoned them, he took a test to prove his worthiness of being in the Society; he tried to steal Falcon's uniform, but would up battling Falcon and Battlestar instead. He also later battled the X-Men's Rogue, Havok, and Colossus with the rest of the Serpent Society, but quickly surrendered when he realized his opponents were much more powerful than him. He battled Captain America later. His greatest accomplishment was nearly killing Captain America after he, Anaconda, and Puff Adder were attacked. He dropped him from a rooftop, but was ordered by King Cobra to flee as to not have their base revealed. He along with Anaconda and Puff Adder attacked Bad girls INC and was successful in capturing them. Only to be attacked and thrown from their craft by MODAM. He and Puff Adder survive but are injured.
A python is a constricting snake belonging to the Python (genus), or, more generally, any snake in the family Pythonidae (containing the Python genus).

Wildlife guide Michelle Sole captured the incredible footage at the Marakele National Park in South Africa last month. She was alerted to the presence of a predator by a herd of impalas’ cries and came across the rare sight of the python enjoying its meal. The acid in the python’s stomach will break everything from this impala down, including hooves and horns. Digestion of such a big meal may take weeks, during which the snake will be more vulnerable to predators. But after such a meal this snake might not need to feed again for up to a year. Don't believe all the bad things you hear about Rock Pythons, despite the tragedy that occurred in Canada. As you can tell in this video, when the animal is treated properly, given the proper caging and respect, it is a wonderful pet for the right owner. The news does more to sensationalize any incident that occurs throughout the world than it does to clarify the truth about these beautiful animals.

Python sebae (African Rock Python), is a non-venomous python species found in subsaharan Africa. This is one of the world's largest species of snakes. With adults reaching lengths of over 6 m (20 ft), this is one of the world's largest species of snakes. The typical adult length is 4.8 m (16 ft) and rumors of specimens over 20 feet are generally considered reliable, but larger specimens have never been confirmed. The color pattern is typically brown, with olive and tan irregular blotching, fading to white on the underside. At a glance they can be easily mistaken for the Burmese python, P. m. bivittatus, but the two species are not closely related. Attacks on humans are very uncommon. Although this species can easily kill an adult, there are only a few cases in which the victim, in m...
