Bargain hunters can fly between Canberra and Melbourne for just $9 as part of Tigerair's 9th birthday sale.

But they'll have to be quick to catch the 300 tickets up for grabs in the 24-hour deal that ends at 12pm on Saturday.

The one-way airfares are only available for the travel period of July 25 to September 7, 2017.

It is the cheapest in a string of promotions Tigerair is running during its birthday month.

The budget airline offered $19 flights between the two cities on Wednesday, which sold out within hours, a spokeswoman for the company said.

A number of other popular Australian routes are included in Tigerair's specials this month, including between Melbourne and Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, and Brisbane and Cairns.

A select number of fares between Canberra and Melbourne will return to a lower discounted price of $69 from 12pm on Saturday until the end of November.

The spokeswoman said the 300 tickets offered at $9 had nearly sold out by 2.30pm on Friday.
