This is what a $34 million beach house looks like

Recent events have you dreaming of moving to a secluded island, to avoid having to hear about politics for a few months out of the year? Well, for the 0.01 percent of the population that can actually afford their own island compound, there are plenty of options out there.

Each of the following properties is a relatively new construction, and each contains a group of small, satellite buildings that orbit a main entertainment space. It's a configuration that allows for entertaining on a grand scale and has the added benefit of letting owners hunker down for the long term with a small group of friends and family. They are all roughly AU$34 million, but each offers a very different lifestyle to potential buyers.

Set on a private peninsula with 426 metres of water frontage, the compound has a main house with five bedrooms (each with en-suite baths), a two-bedroom guest cottage that has its own kitchen and living room, and additional on-site staff buildings and a guard house.

The house has a wine cellar gym, tennis court, two-car garage, and wraparound infinity pool. There's also a series of outdoor pavilions, lounges, fire pit areas, and, adjacent to the property, a 27-metre dock for mooring your yacht. The house sits on a tiny stretch of land on Providenciales, the northernmost island of the Turks & Caicos – the Providenciales airport, which is about a two-hour, direct flight from Miami, is a short drive away.
