Dow's Andrew Liveris takes brand new jet to Bahamas and Spain

Australian-born Andrew Liveris has plenty going for him. After 37 years at Dow Chemical Company, he's risen to the helm of the $60 billion industrial giant. And its commercial performance has been notable on his watch. He's a business adviser to President Barack Obama and an associate of former President Bill Clinton, through his slick pals at Teneo Holdings.

But Liveris is now under intense scrutiny over revelations of his lavish spending of company money on luxury travel and exclusive entertainment. So, with his prolific use of the corporate jet already in question, it's incredibly poor timing for Dow to have taken delivery of a brand new Gulfstream 650 just three weeks ago.

The 650 varietal began production in 2012 and retails at $85 million. They're still as rare as hen's teeth.

This plane was built in 2014, but was only registered to a Dow shell company, Warbler 1 LLC, on May 9 – after a three-month fitout of premium interiors at a Gulfstream facility in Outagamie, Wisconsin.

And while the runabout has only been at Liveris' beck and call for three weeks, it's already flown to the Spanish seaside town of Reus and to the Bahamas.

Liveris is all about being "ubiquitous" – he swears by it – and we're sure all of his many, many Spanish and Caribbean employees were grateful to see him on their factory floors. Wherever those factories are. For the life of us we couldn't find them on Google Earth. But the One&Only; resort looks sensational!

We put all of these details, including the robust travel itinerary, to Liveris, but he declined to comment.
