Wimbledon 2016

The biggest and most prestigious event in tennis is back with the 130th edition of Wimbledon.

Australia’s top guns will join the world’s best on the grass courts of London’s All England Club from Monday, June 27 for the year’s third grand slam – and there are intriguing storylines aplenty.

World No.1 Novak Djokovic continues his quest to become the greatest of all time as he chases a fourth Wimbledon crown and 13th grand slam title to move within four of Roger Federer’s record haul.

Standing in his way in in-form Brit and local favourite Andy Murray, the legendary Federer himself, and the sport’s fast-rising next generation including Australia’s own Nick Kyrgios.

Buoyed by a stellar season so far and career-high ranking of 18th, Kyrgios is tipped to go deep into the draw, while countryman and fellow top 20 star Bernard Tomic also looks poised to make his mark after an encouraging run at Queen’s Club.

In the women’s draw, world No.1 Serena Williams chases her 22nd grand slam title but first of the season as she faces a huge threat from French Open champion and 2015 Wimbledon runner-up Garbine Muguruza of Spain.

World No.3 Agnieszka Radwanska, Belarusian star Victoria Azarenka and Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber are other leading contenders in a wide open field, with Samantha Stosur and Daria Gavrilova spearheading a strong representation for Australia.
