Women are loving Hillary Clinton's low-stress post-election look
Hillary Clinton has given her first speech since the US presidential election wound up last week and the conversation has, naturally, quickly turned to what she looks like.
The former presidential candidate attended the Children's Defence Fund's Beat the Odds Gala in Washington, DC, on Wednesday night wearing noticeably less makeup than she did while appearing in front of audiences of millions under the television studio lights of the year's presidential debates. Quelle horreur.
The absence of ten layers of foundation on Clinton's face was noted by some Twitter users, who described the politician as "tired".
But, Clinton's supporters were absolutely loving her relaxed look.
The Children's Defence Fund is a US nonprofit organisation, which provides child advocacy and research. Clinton worked for the fund as an attorney early in her career, and later served as the chair of its board.
"I will admit, coming here tonight wasn't the easiest thing for me," Clinton said in her speech at the fund's annual gala.
"There have been a few times this past week where all I wanted to do was curl up with a good book and our dogs and never leave the house again."
Last week, a day after her shock loss to president-elect Donald Trump, Clinton was spotted by a fan walking her dog near her home in Chappaqua, New York.
Clinton continued her speech, which was streamed live on Facebook, by encouraging her supporters to "never, ever give up".
"I know this isn't easy. I know that over the past week a lot of people have asked themselves whether America is the country we thought it was," she said.
"The divisions laid bare by this election run deep. But please listen to me when I say this: America is worth it."
