Harbour Marine Services is a boatyard made up of three large sheds, a chandlery and café overlooking the river Blyth in the beautiful town of Southwold (UK).

We are well known for restorations of 1930's motor yachts notably, 'GRALIAN', 'MERIDIES', 'CHINDA', details of these 'Saunders and Roe' and 'Silvers' rebuilds and restorations have been chronicled in Classic Boat Magazine.
We offer services for rigging, lifting, marine electrics, GRP work, steel fabrication, aluminium fabrication and engineering work for modern yachts as well as classic wooden boats.
Harbour Marine Services is a friendly, helpful boatyard, we are happy to assist you if you are needing berthing information or boatyard services.
Our three sheds make up 10,000 square feet of temperature controlled, ventilated space where our 20 craftsmen work. Harbour Marine Services has a 20 tonne Wise hoist enabling full movement of yachts and rigging services.
We are a West Systems, Awl Grip and Osmosis Treatment approved centre with a spray shop.

Arrival at the lovely old port of Southwold in Suffolk with a fairly strong ebb tide slowing the passage up the River Blyth to the berth at Blackshore Jetty - adjacent to the Harbour Inn with wonderful Adnams ales and great fish and chips.
The passage up the river has points of interest at 2-56 with the grey roofed building which is the former Cromer lifeboat house but now houses the old Southwold rowing and sailing lifeboat built in 1893 - well worth a visit.
At 3-23 the first building is the present RNLI lifeboat house with it's current boat being at Atlantic 75 RIB
At 6-42 the two piers, one either side of the river, are for the Walberswick rowing ferry operated by Dani Church , she is the fifth generation of her family to operate the ferry , her skill in crossing this strongly tidal river is to be seen to believed, she is the co-author of a book : Story of the Southwold-Walberswick Ferry, a ferry good read !
At 10-47 we are approaching the Harbour Inn at Blackshore
The tidal Jetty at blackshore can accommodate 3 to 4 yachts alongside which pick up planks to place over their fenders to ride up and down the piers pilings , other yachts raft up to about 4 or 5 deep.
Southwold is a step back in time and both it and the nearby village of Walberswick are well worth visiting.

History
Southwold was mentioned in Domesday Book (1086) as a fishing port, and after the "capricious River Blyth withdrew from Dunwich in 1328, bringing trade to Southwold in the 15th century", it received its town charter from Henry VII in 1489. Over the following centuries, however, a shingle bar built up across the harbour mouth, preventing the town from becoming a major Early Modern port: "The shingle at Southwold Harbour, the mouth of the Blyth, is ever shifting," William Whittaker observed in 1887.

Arrival at the lovely old port of Southwold in Suffolk with a fairly strong ebb tide slowing the passage up the River Blyth to the berth at Blackshore Jetty - ...
Arrival at the lovely old port of Southwold in Suffolk with a fairly strong ebb tide slowing the passage up the River Blyth to the berth at Blackshore Jetty - adjacent to the Harbour Inn with wonderful Adnams ales and great fish and chips.
The passage up the river has points of interest at 2-56 with the grey roofed building which is the former Cromer lifeboat house but now houses the old Southwold rowing and sailing lifeboat built in 1893 - well worth a visit.
At 3-23 the first building is the present RNLI lifeboat house with it's current boat being at Atlantic 75 RIB
At 6-42 the two piers, one either side of the river, are for the Walberswick rowing ferry operated by Dani Church , she is the fifth generation of her family to operate the ferry , her skill in crossing this strongly tidal river is to be seen to believed, she is the co-author of a book : Story of the Southwold-Walberswick Ferry, a ferry good read !
At 10-47 we are approaching the Harbour Inn at Blackshore
The tidal Jetty at blackshore can accommodate 3 to 4 yachts alongside which pick up planks to place over their fenders to ride up and down the piers pilings , other yachts raft up to about 4 or 5 deep.
Southwold is a step back in time and both it and the nearby village of Walberswick are well worth visiting.
