So it's been a while since I last went spotting at Gatwick, one of my favourite airports! I'd been waiting for the right day, when RWY08R was in use instead of the more common 26L and the weather was right. Finally on Thursday 10th September 2015, the weather was perfect, I had no plans so thought I'd head down there to see what was around! I've included some of the flight numbers and origins/destinations. Enjoy! :)

This was all filmed from just before 9am until about 13:15.

Finally! A taste of summer for the UK. A small week long heatwave has taken the UK by storm this week seeing temperatures reach a toasty 36 degrees in places. So on the hottest, sunniest day of the year so far & with easterly operations in place I decided I was long overdue a trip to Gatwick! I filmed from around 9am until 13:00! This video mainly includes the heavies, but I did also feature some of the less frequent, smaller visitors to Gatwick as well. Some special things to look out for in this video are; Thomson Airways' Brand New Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (G-TUIJ) in TUI livery! Condor 757-300 on hire to Thomas Cook. Air Canada Rouge 767 (my first time seeing this service at LGW!) and Norwegian 787 missed approach followed by successful arrival. Missed Approach is at 49:21. As always at Gatwick some incredible work by ATC, runs like clockwork! Check out how close some of them departures and arrivals are, minimal separation and time off the runway. Really amazing to watch, something rotate down the end of the runway while something passes overhead towards the threshold!

A fantastic day spotting at Gatwick. Extremely hot, managed to get myself quite sunburnt... But the nice weather really does make all the difference for filming.
Quite coincidental circumstances regarding that Norwegian 787 missed approach! Back in September 2014 I was onboard a Norwegian 787 which did a missed approach at Gatwick, on approach to RWY08R at about the same distance away as this one was AND the reason for it was because of a Virgin 747 still on the runway... Well here it is, the final part of this video, of what was a great trip to London Gatwick.
This part was filmed between 12:00-13:40 on Wednesday 7th September 16.
Anyhow, some of the best movements from my visit in this video, which feature the Cathay Pacific A350, a WestJet 767, Air Transat's A330's, Virgin 747's and A330, some nice and unique E190's including TAP's, Belavia and Montenegro Airlines! BA 777's, some 757's, an Emirates A380 and much more!

A Flight video from London Gatwick, North terminal to Arrecife, Lanzarote with great RB211 engine sound on takeoff from Gatwick's 26L.
A pleasant 3 hour 45 mins flight down to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands on board one of Thomson's 757 aircraft. The flight was fairly smooth with some minor turbulence during the cruise. The crew were great and the cabin was nicely laid out in the 221 passenger configuration. The flight was full (221) and we were loaded with 16244kgs of fuel which is enough for 4 hours 47 mins of flying time. The first officer, in which it was his third flight on the Boeing 757, flew us down to Arrecife, he provided the passengers with lots of trivial information involving the weight of the aircraft in perspective view, quite interesting! The captain taxied with the use of only the number one engine and this engine was also shut down prior to the arrival in ACE. Notice on finals at approximately 44:45, the flock of birds just off to the right of the aircraft, certainly not too far off from the plane. The departure was made from 26L, Southampton 1 Xray (SAM1X) with a derate of 55 degrees out of a maximum of 58 degrees, so a fairly reduced thrust takeoff. We followed the Terto 6 Papa (TERT6P) arrival into Arrecife along with the ILS facility for runway 03, vacating with idle reverse thrust on the the rapid exit taxiway Echo 2.

Gatwick Airport(IATA: LGW, ICAO: EGKK) is 2.7 nautical miles (5.0 km; 3.1 mi) north of the centre of Crawley,West Sussex, and 29.5 miles (47.5 km) south of Central London. Gatwick is unique amongst London's airports in its representation of the three main airline business models: full service, low-/no frills and charter. I'd been waiting for the right day, when RWY08R was in use instead of the more common 26L and the weather was right. Finally on Thursday 10th September 2015, the weather was perfect, I had no plans so thought I'd head down there to see what was around! Finally! A taste of summer for the UK. A small week long heatwave has taken the UK by storm this week seeing temperatures reach a toasty 36 degrees in places. So on the hottest, sunniest day of the year so far & with easterly operations in place I decided I was long overdue a trip to Gatwick! I filmed from around 9am until 13:00! This video mainly includes the heavies, but I did also feature some of the less frequent, smaller visitors to Gatwick as well. Some special things to look out for in this video are; Thomson Airways' Brand New Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (G-TUIJ) in TUI livery! Condor 757-300 on hire to Thomas Cook. Air Canada Rouge 767 (my first time seeing this service at LGW!) and Norwegian 787 missed approach followed by successful arrival. Missed Approach is at 49:21. As always at Gatwick some incredible work by ATC, runs like clockwork! Check out how close some of them departures and arrivals are, minimal separation and time off the runway. Really amazing to watch, something rotate down the end of the runway while something passes overhead towards the threshold!

Quite coincidental circumstances regarding that Norwegian 787 missed approach! Back in September 2014 I was onboard a Norwegian 787 which did a missed approach at Gatwick, on approach to RWY08R at about the same distance away as this one was AND the reason for it was because of a Virgin 747 still on the runway... A Flight video from London Gatwick, North terminal to Arrecife, Lanzarote with great RB211 engine sound on takeoff from Gatwick's 26L.
A pleasant 3 hour 45 mins flight down to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands on board one of Thomson's 757 aircraft. The flight was fairly smooth with some minor turbulence during the cruise. The crew were great and the cabin was nicely laid out in the 221 passenger configuration. The flight was full (221) and we were loaded with 16244kgs of fuel which is enough for 4 hours 47 mins of flying time. The first officer, in which it was his third flight on the Boeing 757, flew us down to Arrecife, he provided the passengers with lots of trivial information involving the weight of the aircraft in perspective view, quite interesting! The captain taxied with the use of only the number one engine and this engine was also shut down prior to the arrival in ACE. Notice on finals at approximately 44:45, the flock of birds just off to the right of the aircraft, certainly not too far off from the plane. The departure was made from 26L, Southampton 1 Xray (SAM1X) with a derate of 55 degrees out of a maximum of 58 degrees, so a fairly reduced thrust takeoff. We followed the Terto 6 Papa (TERT6P) arrival into Arrecife along with the ILS facility for runway 03, vacating with idle reverse thrust on the the rapid exit taxiway Echo 2.

Hey everybody :-) Thanks for watching our extended Travel Day, Part 2 Vlog. If you’re planning your Florida Holiday we would highly recommend you book the V-Lounge at either Gatwick or Manchester. We managed to get this for free with our booking but I believe it’s around £25pp and its worth every penny. We were in there for about 3 hours and time literally flew by ;-) We both had breakfast and enjoyed the teas and coffees. You can take advantage of the bar (at a cost). If you have kids or still a big kid, then there are games consoles, foosball table & a play area for the younger ones. We managed to get a seat right by the window in huge comfy chairs and watched the planes take off & land. Thanks for watching our extended Travel Day, Part 1 Vlog.
If you’re planning your Florida Holiday we would highly recommend you do the following:
• Create your very own Holiday countdown – It’s a great way of building the excitement and it’s also very satisfying counting the days down. You should add key dates in, such as when you can officially book you’re ADRs, Plane seats etc.
• You should customise your suitcase. As you can see Jenny went to town with the Disney stickers and literally covered her entire case. It was great, loads of people commented on it and there was definitely no mistaken our luggage when it arrived in Florida. It adds a bit of fun and more importantly less likelihood of someone else mistakenly picking up your luggage. Ribbons are great too along with personalised luggage tags. We also recommend getting TSA locks. That way customs don’t have to break your lock to access your case.
• If you can stay onsite at the Airport. We only live around an hour from Gatwick but that’s more than enough for us to warrant staying onsite at the Hilton Hotel. We love staying at the airport as it takes the stress out of getting to there the following day. I wouldn’t want to miss my flight because of a traffic jam. If you’re flying with Virgin you can drop your main baggage off at “Twilight "check in. We did this and it was great not having to drag our big cases about. We then were able to explore the terminal and of course have some proper food at none other than Giraffe!!! The food was excellent & not unreasonably priced either. It had that “I’m going on holiday” vibe that we just crave and the cocktails were awesome. See this all adds to reasons to stay onsite. The Hilton Hotel was “alright” it was not the best hotel but was definitely not the worst. It was basic but absolutely perfect for what we needed. The room had recently been renovated which was nice and the bed was humongous. We chose the Hilton Hotel for its location and as you can see, it was only a few minutes’ walk, through the tunnel and straight into South Side Terminal.

Thanks for watching our extended Travel Day, Part 2 Vlog. If you’re planning your Florida Holiday we would highly recommend you book the V-Lounge at either Gatwick or Manchester.
We managed to get this for free with our booking but I believe it’s around £25pp and its worth every penny. We were in there for about 3 hours and time literally flew by ;-) We both had breakfast and enjoyed the teas and coffees. You can take advantage of the bar (at a cost). If you have kids or still a big kid, then there are games consoles, foosball table & a play area for the younger ones. We managed to get a seat right by the window in huge comfy chairs and watched the planes take off & land. It was bliss and we would definitely recommend it.
• What’s Dibbers Row you might be wondering? Well part of my Florida research took me to this amazing website called (www.TheDibb.co.uk) which is free to sign up. The site offers a wealth of knowledge on EVERYTHING Florida. There’s a vast amount of forums to help answer any question you may have, but feel free to ask us here also :-)
Once you've joined you are known as a “Dibber”and fellow Dibbers like to book the seats upstairs in the bubble, rows 79 or 80 which are at the very back as they are regarded as the best seats in economy class. Hence why this is called “Dibbers Row”.
