The Migration of Indo-European Languages
In this episode the History of the World Podcast leads us through a heavily complex and complicated subject involving the Indo-European origin of many of the languages that we have today and the migrations that occurred early in our human history as humans and their evolving languages spread out across the globe, in many ways connected and in many ways different. Enjoy!
7000 BCE onwards - Proto-Indo-Europeans are believed to have spoken a language ancestral to over four hundred languages of the modern world. Why do we believe this when there is no firm evidence of a Proto-Indo-European language though?

How Indo-European Languages Evolved
The origin of Indo-European languages has long been a topic of debate among scholars and scientists. In 2012, a team of evolutionary biologists at the University of Auckland led by Dr. Quentin Atkinson released a study that found all modern IE languages could be traced back to a single root: Anatolian — the language of Anatolia, now modern-day Turkey.

The Sound of Indo-European Music (Compilation)
The Yamnaya people, also known as the Proto-Indo-Europeans, were a people believed to have lived on the Steppes of Ukraine. The Yamnaya people, also known as the Proto-Indo-Europeans, were a people believed to have lived on the Steppes of Ukraine. After making a number of advancements in animal husbandry, the Proto-Indo-Europeans expanded and conquered across Europe and down into India. The Yamnaya people were able to spread their language across these regions, and over time this tongue began to diverge, creating the seperate-yet-related Indo-European languages of today.
In this video, I compiled music from all the major Indo-European languages. I hope you enjoy these great songs!
Note: For the sake of time and hard drive space, I only included major, officially-recognized Indo-European languages. Perhaps in the future I will create a video about various dialects of these languages. If I missed a language you like, however, I am sorry.
