Carrie Bickmore’s on-air proposal goes down a treat
CARRIE Bickmore gave a special mention to an audience member who’s battling breast cancer but then her boyfriend stole the show.
After showing a package of good news from around the world this week The Project’s Bickmore gave a shout out to audience member Tara.
“We just want to give a shout out to one of our audience members tonight who is with us, had a huge year, battling breast cancer, almost finished chemo, we know you are here with your boyfriend Jarred, we want to say good luck. Jarred, she seems like an absolutely incredible woman,” Bickmore said.

After much applause Jarred then said this.
“Tara is probably the strongest, most toughest person I’ve ever met, she is the best mum, the best partner, she is my best friend, we make the best team and I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Tara. Will you marry me?”
“Oh my god yes,” Tara said.
The happy couple were presented with a bouquet of flowers from special guest Ryan Fitzgerald.
“You did well, big fella, because we could see you sweating the whole time,” Fitzy said.
Co-host Waleed Aly jokingly told the couple their passionate kiss may have just pushed the show back to a later timeslot.
Not even Paris Hilton, who appeared on the show afterwards, could top that.
