James Chappel on a mission to train teachers in Uganda

A FORMER Ivanhoe Grammar School student will embark on a journey to Uganda next year to train aspiring teachers.

James Chappel, now a music teacher at the Mernda campus of the school, has accepted a Teacher Training Fellowship as part of Limited Resources Teacher Training.

“It has been a dream of mine to work with local educators in Uganda and I can’t wait to begin the fellowship,” Mr Chappel said.

“This project means so much to me because it sees education as a formidable means of improving the lives of people that do not enjoy the privileges I do.

“I will be helping to train aspiring teachers that are much needed in the Ugandan education system.”

To help raise funds for the trip Mr Chappel has started a gofundme page and will be holding a lunchtime concert and performing with a number of past students in the final week of term.
