First grade teacher at Canberra school invites her whole class to her wedding

A generous Canberra school teacher has shared one of the most special days of her life with her entire grade one class.

Brigitta van Reesch (now Brigitta van Deas) invited all her grade one students at Holy Trinity Primary School in Curtin  to her wedding on October 28.

It was a Friday, so the students, resplendent in their best outfits, could finish school and be taken to the wedding at the Holy Family Church in Gowrie.

For Mrs van Deas, it was an automatic decision to include her students, who sat transfixed  in the church as the ceremony unfolded.

"They are part of my life so I wanted to share the day with them," she said.

"They were very excited. It was lovely. They were probably most excited about the dress to be honest."

Just returned from a honeymoon in the Whitsundays with husband Jason van Deas, Mrs van Deas is enjoying being back with her students.

She has been a teacher for seven years, growing up in Canberra and getting married in the church connected to the primary school she herself attended in Gowrie.
