STORYLINE
A US Navy oceanographic survey ship was trying to determine on Wednesday if metal objects found off Sulawesi Island's western coast were the wreckage of a Boeing 737 that disappeared more than a week ago carrying 102 people.
An Indonesian vessel earlier reported three pieces of debris on the seabed after local fisherman told authorities they had spotted a low-flying, unstable aircraft in the area but lost sight of it after hearing a loud bang, naval officials said.
The USNS Mary Sears, which has sonar and satellite imagery capabilities, was called in to see if the metal could be the remnants of Adam Air Flight KI-574, said the head of the search operation.
The debris, found in three separate locations within a radius of a few kilometres (miles), was on the Makassar Strait's seabed approximately 4 kilometres (two and a half miles) from the West Sulawesi provincial capital of Mamuju, he said.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in Makassar, Rear Admiral Moekhlas Sidik, commander of Eastern Indonesia Fleet, said they were "examining closely the strongest signal that we have received from the three locations under the sea. The signal's location is 19 miles northwest of Tanjung Rengas (West Sulawesi)."
Sidik said the signal was 1,700 metres (yards) under the sea, and added the Mary Sears had confirmed one of the objects was "round-shaped metal," but that more readings were needed to identify it.
The pilot of the Adam Air plane, which left Java island for the North Sulawesi provincial capital of Manado on January 1, twice changed course after battling 130 kilometres per hour (80 miles per hour) winds but did not issue a mayday or report technical difficulties, officials said.
With no emergency location signal to guide more than 3,600 soldiers, police and volunteers searching in the island's dense jungles and surrounding seas, teams have fanned out over a nearly 80-thousand-square-kilometre (30-thousand-square-mile) area.

Napalm Death
Napalm Death are a British grindcore band formed in Meriden, West Midlands, England, in 1981. While none of its original members remain in the group, the lineup of vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway, bassist Shane Embury, guitarist Mitch Harris and drummer Danny Herrera has remained consistent for most of the band's career.
Napalm Death are credited as pioneers of the grindcore genre by incorporating elements of hardcore/crust punk and death metal, using a noise-filled sound that uses heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars, grinding overdrive bass, high speed tempo, blast beats, and vocals which consist of incomprehensible growls, or high-pitched shrieks, extremely short songs, fast tempos, and sociopolitical lyrics. The band's debut album Scum, released in 1987 by Earache Records, proved substantially influential throughout the global metal community. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, their song "You Suffer" is the shortest song in the world, as its length is only 1.316 seconds long.

A US Navy oceanographic survey ship was trying to determine on Wednesday if metal objects found off Sulawesi Island's western coast were the wreckage of a Boeing 737 that disappeared more than a week ago carrying 102 people.
An Indonesian vessel earlier reported three pieces of debris on the seabed after local fisherman told authorities they had spotted a low-flying, unstable aircraft in the area but lost sight of it after hearing a loud bang, naval officials said.
The USNS Mary Sears, which has sonar and satellite imagery capabilities, was called in to see if the metal could be the remnants of Adam Air Flight KI-574, said the head of the search operation.
The debris, found in three separate locations within a radius of a few kilometres (miles), was on the Makassar Strait's seabed approximately 4 kilometres (two and a half miles) from the West Sulawesi provincial capital of Mamuju, he said.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in Makassar, Rear Admiral Moekhlas Sidik, commander of Eastern Indonesia Fleet, said they were "examining closely the strongest signal that we have received from the three locations under the sea. The signal's location is 19 miles northwest of Tanjung Rengas (West Sulawesi)."
Sidik said the signal was 1,700 metres (yards) under the sea, and added the Mary Sears had confirmed one of the objects was "round-shaped metal," but that more readings were needed to identify it.
The pilot of the Adam Air plane, which left Java island for the North Sulawesi provincial capital of Manado on January 1, twice changed course after battling 130 kilometres per hour (80 miles per hour) winds but did not issue a mayday or report technical difficulties, officials said.
With no emergency location signal to guide more than 3,600 soldiers, police and volunteers searching in the island's dense jungles and surrounding seas, teams have fanned out over a nearly 80-thousand-square-kilometre (30-thousand-square-mile) area.

He submitted a highly cogent dissent channel cable, raising concerns that "consistently erring on the side of caution" when it comes to security choices sends "a message of distrust to the people of our host nations" and makes it difficult to roll back enhanced security measures should the need arise. Mr. Polacheck came to this conclusion after serving in Iraq, Pakistan and Lebanon. The judges were impressed with his willingness to raise a well-argued concern on an issue that often complicates U.S. policy and the carrying out of diplomatic and development work abroad.
Exemplary Performance
The Avis Bohlen Award is given to an eligible family member of a Foreign Service employee whose relations with the American and foreign communities at a Foreign Service post have done the most to advance American interests. This year's winner is Leila Gupta, Embassy Nairobi. Leila used her professional skills and personal resources to assist children/youth exposed to civil warfare in Rwanda and Sierra Leone; HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia and Chad; and natural disasters in Sri Lanka and Haiti. She is the wife of Jay Zimmerman (Kabul).
The Nelson B. Delavan Award is given to a Foreign Service Office Management Specialist who has made extraordinary contributions to effectiveness, professionalism and morale. This year's winner is James Velez, at the German-led Regional Command-North (RC-N) Headquarters platform, in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan. Jim's outgoing nature and willingness to engage both U.S. and German military colleagues translated into an enormous increase in the level of support from both the U.S. and German offices responsible for addressing Chief of Mission (COM) life support issues.
The M. Juanita Guess Award is given to a Community Liaison Officer who has demonstrated outstanding dedication and energy assisting the families serving at an overseas post. This year's winner is Sara Hurst Butler, Embassy Port-Au-Prince. One of her noteworthy efforts is the CLO Yellow Pages. Sara also created a video showing Haiti before and after the 2010 earthquake.
In addition, Jeff Jacob of U.S. Embassy Kabul will receive this year's AFSA Post Representative of the Year Award for his contributions at post. The AFSA Awards and Plaques Committee chose Mr. Jacob for his effectiveness in communicating with AFSA and members at post, his willingness to assist colleagues, and his visibility as AFSA rep at a difficult post.
AFSA appreciates the efforts of all individuals who sent in nominations for these awards. We also thank all judges who served on panels this year. We place great importance on these awards, which serve to recognize the intellectual courage and outstanding achievements of Foreign Service personnel. Each of us will be judged by the choices we make. (2 Cor. 5:10). In today's standards their choice would have been considered the norm, or acceptable, particularly if decided by the Supreme Court. Their decision would be that "any reasonable person" would do the same. But, God does not judge as man does. Compromise is NOT an option!
When you are confronted with choices regarding information you are receiving from different sources, how can you know who or what to believe? Christ said, "Many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." (Mat. 24:5). "...Yea, let God be true but every man a liar". (Rom. 3:4). Christ said, "I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life." (John 14:6) There is only one source for the TRUTH, Jesus Christ, your saviour and mine. Let us let him show us how to make choices in our lives. You must be able to distinguish between the messenger and the message. There is a vast difference. To be of Christ, the message must be of the TRUTH and from Christ. True messengers of Christ WILL be following him.

Zhou Yu Gongjin (onyomi: Shū Yu, 175–210) was a military general and strategist serving under the warlord Sun Ce in the late Eastern Han dynasty, who died died in 200 CE after wounds recieved in an assassination attempt at just 25 years of age, only to be scuceeded by his younger brother and sucessor, Sun Quan whom Gongjin continued serving.
Zhou Yu was described to have a strong physique, handsome looks, and great etiquette. Gongjin was also known to be very experienced in music: even when he was not sober, he could still detect a mistake or a wrong note when a musical piece was being played. When that happened, he would look up at the person playing the music. There was a saying at that time to describe this: "If there is a mistake in the tune, Zhou Yu will look up." His widespread fame incurred much jealousy towards him, which was why Cao Cao and Liu Bei attempted to slander Zhou Yu and sow discord between him and Sun Quan.
Around late 208, the northern warlord Cao Cao led his forces south with the intention of conquering the Jiangdong region, where Sun Quan's territories were based, but was defeated by Sun's forces under Zhou Yu's command at the decisive Battle of Red Cliffs. Zhou Yu served as the frontline commander of Sun Quan's forces at the Battle of Jiangling and defeated Cao Cao's forces once again. Zhou Yu's victories helped to solidify the survivability of Sun Quan's regime, which would serve as the foundation of the state of Eastern Wu in the Three Kingdoms period (220–280). A reputed warrior talented in war and literature, Zhou Yu's potential was feared by Cao Cao and Liu Bei... He died in 210 at a relatively young age of 35 while preparing for a conquest of the Bashu region (covering present-day Sichuan and Chongqing). Romance of the Three Kingdoms fabricated his jealousy for Zhuge Liang, in which he was constantly vexed by his counterpart's intelligence. He also married a loli: Xiao Qiao, the flat chested dragon!

So all following episodes will be in 30 frames per second, sorry! This game is just VERY poorly optimized, it lags even more on hardware PS2, and I am already using all the speedhacks in the emulator that help (cycle rate +33%, more is detrimental + recommended ticks).

Dotcomers don't HAVE to be glamorous to be profitable. In the late 90s the dot-com boom was in full swing. It seemed that everyone was jumping on the Internet bandwagon to ride the electronic highway to untold fortune and fame. Everyday new businesses were being formed and funded with only a name, a concept, and the promise of future revenues. There were literally thousands of new dot-com businesses being introduced to the market on a wing and a prayer. The operating model during the dot-com boom was the antithesis of some unsexy companies structured approach to making money. The eventual dot-com collapse validated the benefits of operating disciplines and financial controls on the production of genuine profits. It crystallized the belief that the purpose of every business is profit.
Each of these new businesses was in hot pursuit of customers, striving to take the high ground and become the industry standard without enough capital to stay afloat. Of course, there were exceptions. Nowadays, investors are more selective about the product, the team, and the real opportunity to capture users and become a dominant player in its market.

Harry has had a distinguished career as an investment manager, venture capitalist, securities analyst and engineer. In his investing career, 11 of his early stage investments attained valuations of $1BN to $80BN. For the decade that he worked on Wall Street, he was the most quoted securities analyst in the world. While on Wall Street he did 60 consulting assignments for a wide variety of technology companies and was one of the first to manage a hedge fund. Later, he was asked by the CEOs of Viacom and AT&T; to be an advisor and consultant and was given corporate money from those two companies to invest in venture capital situations. Soon 8 other multinational corporations joined under the umbrella of Edelson Technology Partners that invested in over 100 companies throughout the world. In 10 of those investments the Edelson Funds were the first VC investor in companies that achieved market capitalizations in excess of $1BN.

Thatcher is an Investor-in-Residence at Cornell Tech, working with the students, faculty and administration to productize academic research. Leonid Kravchuk's political creed is avoiding conflicts and straightforward declaration of his position. He is widely considered to be cunning, diplomatic, and cautious. He describes himself as a man who refuses to take an umbrella because he hopes to "slip between the raindrops." (in interview by Yulia Lytvynenko at Poza ochi on Inter (Ukraine), 2009)
Such diplomacy helped Kravchuk to retain and strengthen his power over Ukraine during the transition from Soviet rule to independence. He was third in command in Ukraine's CPSU leadership before the fall of Soviet Union even though he didn't belong to the ruling Dnipropetrovsk group. He avoided inflexible positions towards democratic changes and was a compromise figure for both party conservatives and reformists.
After becoming president of independent Ukraine, Kravchuk successfully attempted to achieve and strengthen formal sovereignty of the country and develop its relations with the West. He withstood enormous pressure from Russia and refused to retain the common armed forces and currency inside the Commonwealth of Independent States. The status of the Russian Black Sea Fleet's presence in Sevastopol and the Crimea was not resolved by a 20-year lease agreement until 1997, three years after Kravchuk left office. Another of his stands was the refusal of nuclear weapons based on Ukrainian territory. He was one of few country leaders who agreed to surrender Ukraine's nuclear arsenal.
During his leadership the government of Ukraine's economic policy was often criticized. He failed to avoid corruption in the privatization of the country's industry and promote effective financial decisions. Ukrainian annual inflation rates from 1992 to 1994 reached thousands of percents. Millions of loans given by the semi-government banks defaulted. This led to delays of many years in salaries for industry workers, teachers, etc. The collapse of the Black Sea Steamship Company became the saddest symbol of the Kravchuk era. This global merchant fleet, the largest in the world (based mostly in Odessa), was covertly sold out to foreign companies, mostly for fake debts. Hundreds of sailors who had not received their salaries were trapped for years on board their vessels throughout the world. Kravchuk's own son was later accused of taking part in this fraud.
Shocked by these developments and also by growing tensions with Russia, the voters of industrial and predominantly Russian-speaking southeastern Ukraine supported Kravchuk's main rival, Leonid Kuchma, in the 1994 presidential elections. Kuchma won under the slogans of fighting corruption, reconstruction of the economy, and further integration with Russia. Kravchuk's reliance on bureaucratic pressure, support of pro-Western nationalists, and media bias did not serve him well.
Soon after his defeat in 1994, Leonid Kravchuk joined the powerful business and political group known as Kiev Holding or the Dynamo Group. This group, led by oligarchs Viktor Medvedchuk and Hryhoriy Surkis, is formally organized as the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united). Despite its formal centrist/social-democratic slogans, the party is widely associated with big business, organized crime, corruption, and media bias in favor of former President Kuchma. In 2004, Surkis was banned from visiting the United States, due to his alleged involvement in irregularities during the Ukrainian presidential election, 2004. The group also took a strongly pro-Russian and anti-Western stand. Analysts say that TV channels and other media controlled by the group have started a sharp anti-U.S./anti-NATO campaign.
Kravchuk has been highly criticized for remaining one of the leaders of SDPU(o), specializing in negotiations and public relations, despite his declared pro-democratic and patriotic position.
During the 2004 presidential elections Kravchuk actively supported the candidacy of Viktor Yanukovych and was a member of the Yanukovych team that negotiated with the opposition in the aftermath of that disputed election. Leonid Kravchuk's political creed is avoiding conflicts and straightforward declaration of his position. He is widely considered to be cunning, diplomatic, and cautious. He describes himself as a man who refuses to take an umbrella because he hopes to "slip between the raindrops." (in interview by Yulia Lytvynenko at Poza ochi on Inter (Ukraine), 2009)
Such diplomacy helped Kravchuk to retain and strengthen his power over Ukraine during the transition from Soviet rule to independence. He was third in command in Ukraine's CPSU leadership before the fall of Soviet Union even though he didn't belong to the ruling Dnipropetrovsk group. He avoided inflexible positions towards democratic changes and was a compromise figure for both party conservatives and reformists.
After becoming president of independent Ukraine, Kravchuk successfully attempted to achieve and strengthen formal sovereignty of the country and develop its relations with the West. He withstood enormous pressure from Russia and refused to retain the common armed forces and currency inside the Commonwealth of Independent States. The status of the Russian Black Sea Fleet's presence in Sevastopol and the Crimea was not resolved by a 20-year lease agreement until 1997, three years after Kravchuk left office. Another of his stands was the refusal of nuclear weapons based on Ukrainian territory. He was one of few country leaders who agreed to surrender Ukraine's nuclear arsenal.
During his leadership the government of Ukraine's economic policy was often criticized. He failed to avoid corruption in the privatization of the country's industry and promote effective financial decisions. Ukrainian annual inflation rates from 1992 to 1994 reached thousands of percents. Millions of loans given by the semi-government banks defaulted. This led to delays of many years in salaries for industry workers, teachers, etc. The collapse of the Black Sea Steamship Company became the saddest symbol of the Kravchuk era. This global merchant fleet, the largest in the world (based mostly in Odessa), was covertly sold out to foreign companies, mostly for fake debts. Hundreds of sailors who had not received their salaries were trapped for years on board their vessels throughout the world. Kravchuk's own son was later accused of taking part in this fraud.
Shocked by these developments and also by growing tensions with Russia, the voters of industrial and predominantly Russian-speaking southeastern Ukraine supported Kravchuk's main rival, Leonid Kuchma, in the 1994 presidential elections. Kuchma won under the slogans of fighting corruption, reconstruction of the economy, and further integration with Russia. Kravchuk's reliance on bureaucratic pressure, support of pro-Western nationalists, and media bias did not serve him well.
Soon after his defeat in 1994, Leonid Kravchuk joined the powerful business and political group known as Kiev Holding or the Dynamo Group. This group, led by oligarchs Viktor Medvedchuk and Hryhoriy Surkis, is formally organized as the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united). Despite its formal centrist/social-democratic slogans, the party is widely associated with big business, organized crime, corruption, and media bias in favor of former President Kuchma. In 2004, Surkis was banned from visiting the United States, due to his alleged involvement in irregularities during the Ukrainian presidential election, 2004. The group also took a strongly pro-Russian and anti-Western stand. Analysts say that TV channels and other media controlled by the group have started a sharp anti-U.S./anti-NATO campaign.
Kravchuk has been highly criticized for remaining one of the leaders of SDPU(o), specializing in negotiations and public relations, despite his declared pro-democratic and patriotic position.
During the 2004 presidential elections Kravchuk actively supported the candidacy of Viktor Yanukovych and was a member of the Yanukovych team that negotiated with the opposition in the aftermath of that disputed election.
