Canadian Association for Community Living is a non-profit organization founded in 1958 to assist in training and socialization of people with intellectual disabilities, then known as Mental Retardation.
The organization was founded as the "Canadian Association for Retarded Children". In 1969, the name was changed, to "Canadian Association for the Mentally Retarded". The current name was adopted in 1985.
The organization held an annual conference on metal retardation, beginning in 1958.
In 1963, the organization established the "Canadian John F. Kennedy Memorial Fund for Retarded Children". The money raised went to the organization and was used to fund research.
A "Canadian Retarded Children's Week" was also established in 1964 for fundraising, to run from May 6 to 16. The theme was "Flowers of Hope".Cosmos seeds were mailed out as a part of fundraising efforts.
The organization was a proponent of Deinstitutionalisation.
There are branches and subbranches in all Canadian provinces. In 1972, "L'institut National Canadien Francis" merged with the organization to provide French-language services.
David Kolin (born June 26, 1958 in Columbus, Georgia), better known as Dr. Dave, is a TV and radio veteran and former orthodontist who first became an on-air talent on the show “Made In New York” with Matt Lauer and Jill Rappaport. Kolin is known for his radio and comedy companies he created: DB Communications and United Stations Radio Networks. He is executive vice president and partner of United Stations Radio Networks.
Kolin was born in Columbus, Georgia and lived in New York. Most of his childhood was spent in New York. As a child, he listened to Don Imus and old radio broadcasts of the Shadow. Kolin attended New York University for his undergraduate degree, New York University for his DDS, and Fairleigh Dickinson University for Orthodontics.
Kolin’s first experience on the radio began when Scott Shannon offered him a job at the now legendary Z100 for $25/week writing, producing, and voicing comedy. That arrangement didn't last long as the station went from worst to first in less than one year. Suddenly there were dozens of stations copying that Top 40 Z100 format. As a result, Kolin had a built in syndication network which grew to 3 formats of comedy for the biggest names in radio including Rick Dees in LA and John Lander in Houston. Kolin co-hosted the John Lander Q Morning Zoo in Houston as well as a syndicated weekend show, "John Landers Hit mUsic USA." Eventually Kolin started a radio syndication company, DB Communications which eventually became part of the United Stations Radio Networks.
"No Excuses" is the lead single from American rock band Alice in Chains's third EP, Jar of Flies (1994). The song was included on the compilation albums Nothing Safe: Best of the Box (1999), Music Bank (1999), Greatest Hits (2001), and The Essential Alice in Chains (2006). The song was well received by music critics and was a charting success. It has gone on to become one of the band's most popular and well-known songs.
The song's sound (and that of the entire EP) is a departure from some of the band's better-known, heavier work. Guitarist Jerry Cantrell's subtle guitar riffs built around suspended chords (as well as drummer Sean Kinney's soft, syncopated drumming) help lend an unusually airy feel to the song.
The lyrics, penned by Cantrell, are thought to be about his unstable relationship with band vocalist Layne Staley, highlighting both their difficulties as well as their friendship. The final verse seems to come to a resolve in stating that Cantrell will "defend" Staley and that, should they grow further apart, he will "love (Staley) anyway."
The Canadian (Le Canadien) is a Canadian transcontinental passenger train operated by Via Rail Canada with service between Union Station in Toronto, Ontario, and Pacific Central Station in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Before 1955 the Canadian was a Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) train between Toronto and Chicago. In 1955 CPR renamed its transcontinental route between Montreal/Toronto and Vancouver the Canadian, with new streamlined trains. Via Rail took over in 1978, and in 1990 reduced the Canadian to Toronto - Vancouver service primarily along Canadian National tracks.
Trousers (pants in North America) are an item of clothing worn from the waist to the ankles, covering both legs separately (rather than with cloth extending across both legs as in robes, skirts, and dresses).
In the UK the word "pants" generally means underwear and not trousers.Shorts are similar to trousers, but with legs that come down only to around the area of the knee, higher or lower depending on the style of the garment. To distinguish them from shorts, trousers may be called "long trousers" in certain contexts such as school uniform, where tailored shorts may be called "short trousers", especially in the UK.
In most of the Western world, trousers have been worn since ancient times and throughout the Medieval period, becoming the most common form of lower-body clothing for adult males in the modern world, although shorts are also widely worn, and kilts and other garments may be worn in various regions and cultures. Breeches were worn instead of trousers in early modern Europe by some men in higher classes of society. Since the mid-20th century, trousers have increasingly been worn by women as well. Jeans, made of denim, are a form of trousers for casual wear, now widely worn all over the world by both sexes. Shorts are often preferred in hot weather or for some sports and also often by children and teenagers. Trousers are worn on the hips or waist and may be held up by their own fastenings, a belt or suspenders (braces). Leggings are form-fitting trousers, of a clingy material, often knitted cotton and spandex (elastane).
The Canadian Association for Community Living (CACL) has created a national television, radio, and newspaper campaign starring Jessica and James, two young Canadian students with intellectual disabilities. The purpose of the campaign is to make all Canadians aware that Jessica's and James' place is in the classroom with every other kid.
Beginning on "International Right to Know Day" (Friday, September 28), advertisements celebrating the role of newspapers as champions of the public interest will run in gatefolds and inside pages of many of Canada's dailies. The Canadian Newspaper Association (CNA)-led campaign will continue over a period of three months, with reminder ads underscoring the vitality of newspapers as a medium that transports readers into the heart of the news story with depth, context, and immediacy. Target audiences include frequent and less frequent readers, advertisers, as well as advertising agencies, and media planners. ------ À compter de la « Journée internationale du droit de savoir » (soit le vendredi 28 septembre), des annonces à volet célébrant le rôle des journaux comme défenseurs de l'i...

Human rights advocate Paul Fromm invited Dr. Sears to lecture a standing-room only crowd on the topic of "Outrageously exercising free speech to create a 'Truth Blitzkrieg' to confuse and ultimately annihilate our ZioMarxist oppressors... without getting arrested". Issues discussed ranged from miscegenation to the "Nazi Holohoax" to bringing the Jews to Jesus to interracial harmony to Israel & the CIA carrying out 9-11. Dr. Sears did not hold back as he effortlessly addressed even the most obscure and tricky of audience questions. If you are going to watch one video of Dr. Sears speaking, this video is the one! Dr. Dave Hepburn and fellow sidequack, Dr. Rob Sealey are best known for hosting the popular national radio show Wisequacks. WiseQuacks was a fun informative and upbeat health show heard nationally across Canada and the USA every Sunday. This live call-in show allowed you to talk to Dr. Dave Hepburn and Dr. Robert Sealey, both MDs (Masters of Deception) about any medical issue. What made the show so much fun was that responses were never the pedantic dry response you might normally associate with doctors. Instead, they provided expert helpful advice but in a manner that left most people quacked up. They have taken this hilarious banter to the stage delivering engaging keynotes to corporate audiences across Canada. Dr. Dave Hepburn, M.D. is an award winning syndicated columnist featu...
