Ivanka Trump Used Her Father's '60 Minutes' Interview To Market Jewelry Line
Ivanka Trump's jewelry line is "making adjustments" after facing social media backlash from a promotional email that was sent out to fashion editors Monday.
The "style alert" PR email, which was sent out by Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry's vice-president of sales, Monica Marder, was promoting the $10,800 (approx C$14,491) bracelet Ivanka wore during her father's first televised interview as president-elect with "60 Minutes" Sunday night.
"Ivanka Trump wearing her favourite bangle from the Metropolis Collection on '60 Minutes,'" read the email.

The email, posted to Twitter by members of the media, shows the 18K gold bracelet ringed with diamonds in all its glory.

The PR move was met with heavy criticism with many calling it a conflict of interest, blurring the lines between family business interests and Donald Trump's new position as president-elect. Social media did not cozy up to the idea that Ivanka could be using her father's presidency to directly promote the selling of her products.

The following day, Abigail Klem, president of the Ivanka Trump brand, issued a statement to NBC News which said the email was sent by "a well-intentioned marketing employee at one of our companies who was following customary protocol, and who, like many of us, is still making adjustments post-election."
"We are proactively discussing new policies and procedures with all of our partners going forward," Klem continued.
As pointed out by Cosmopolitan, this was not the first time Ivanka found an opportunity to capitalize on her role in the election. In July, the brand provided shopping links to the Ivanka Trump items she wore at the Republican National Convention.

And despite some customers asking for stores to remove the Ivanka Trump brand from its shelves, it seems as though the promo is paying off.
Fast Company reported in October that Ivanka Trump clothing sales went up $11.8 million in the first half of 2016 compared to the first six months of 2015.
During the Trump family interview, Lesley Stahl of "60 Minutes" asked the 35-year-old mother of three if she would seek a role in her father’s administration.
Ivanka, who has put her focus on her fashion brand, which sells jewelry, clothing, handbags and other accessories, said, "I’m going to be a daughter. I’ve said throughout the campaign that I am very passionate about certain issues. And that I want to fight for them … but not in a formal administrative capacity."
