Can I create an article with hardly information?[edit]

I am trying to create an article about a book named "Divinity," but the problem is, I lost the book in my house, and the only thing I can remember about it other than the story is that it had an orange and brown cover and was published by a publisher named "Jacob's Ladder." I looked this info on the internet, but I could not find it online. Could you please help? Ramister (talk) 03:00, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

@Ramister: Well, no, the article has to contain some actual information about the book other than the cover and publisher. However, considering you could not find info online, the book probably lacks notabliity Pppery 03:02, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
Notability does not depend on information being online, the internet is a very recent invention. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:15, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
There is or was a Jacobs Ladder Publications, active in the 1980s. Thing is though you don't even need to find the book - title, author, publisher and date would be enough - but for your article to be accepted you would need to find significant commentaries about it in respected publications, on- or off-line, or evidence that it had won major awards or been a best-seller. If you haven't already, please read Your first article and this page about "notability" in books: Noyster (talk), 11:09, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

Why is the Page Curation tool shown on Donald Trump's article.[edit]

Page Curation on Donald Trump article.png

The Page Curation tool appears on the right side of the Donald Trump article. This is weird for it is not newly created or unreviewed, I have inquired about this on that article's talk page, but have gotten no response. It was not the case in the past few days, it just suddenly appeared. Don't know if I'm the only one. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 05:51, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

It was moved to draftspace by a compromised admin account and subsequently moved back to mainspace. Moves from draftspace are considered "new" by the article curation tool. Reach Out to the Truth 06:07, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
@Reach Out to the Truth: Is there a bug report about this, now I have no idea on how to file bug reports, or how to search for them. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 06:10, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
I would imagine that's desirable behavior most of the time. Drafts aren't subject to the same scrutiny, so if they become an article they should be reviewed like any other. The compromised admin accounts are being discussed at the administrators' noticeboard. Reach Out to the Truth 06:39, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

Individual day stats at Pageviews Analysis[edit]

When you're viewing an individual article's daily hit counts at Pageviews Analysis (the basic link from an article's history page, e.g. [1]), is it possible to cause the software to display each day's hits numerically on the page? This was easy to do with the old service (example), and presumably one can get it by downloading a CSV report, so I'm guessing that they wouldn't have removed such a simple feature, but I can't figure out how to do it. Nyttend (talk) 12:52, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

I guess you refer to the "toggle labels" link at http://stats.grok.se/en/201502/Asia. https://tools.wmflabs.org/pageviews does not appear to have that feature. I can see the number for a specific column by hovering over it. Downloading as CSV shows all the numbers. The two tools are developed independently by different people. I wouldn't say the newer tool "removed" a feature the older tool had. It just didn't make the same feature. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:40, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
MusikAnimal may be open to adding the feature though :) Sam Walton (talk) 00:48, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
Someone else just requested the same feature, so that's that... I'll make it happen! I did some quick research and there are some plugins to make this work with the Chart.js library we're using. Best MusikAnimal talk 00:53, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
@Nyttend and PrimeHunter: Done! Use the "Show values" option shown at the top-right above the chart. I just deployed it, so if you don't see it give it a little time or manually clear your cache. Best MusikAnimal talk 05:29, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
Great! Thanks a lot! Since it was such a basic element of Hendrik's server (what could be more basic than "How many hits did this get yesterday", especially with DYK's template, I had guessed that it was actively removed for some reason. Nyttend (talk) 13:46, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Piping in categories[edit]

I ran across 2011 Christchurch earthquake that uses piping in the Categories. I've never seen this before and and am wondering if there is a reason to do this. The effect I see is that the "piped" text is displayed when hovering over the category name. Is this useful. It strikes me as misleading. MB 17:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

No, that's how categories are supposed to be formatted; the text after the pipe is the sort key which ensures that within the category the articles are listed in the correct order. ‑ Iridescent 17:37, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
It's especially important with biographies, because we don't normally sort by first name. For example, if you put John Doe into Category:Men, you should use so that he gets sorted as "D" instead of as "J". See also the DEFAULTSORT part of Help:Magic words; with , we sort the article as "D" in all of its categories, without having to use a pipe in any of them. Here, is used because in a category of 2011 earthquakes, it isn't particularly helpful to sort by "2011", and "Christchurch" makes a lot more sense as the basis of the sorting, just as sorting by "2011" would make a lot more sense in a category for the history of Christchurch. Spectrum Internet[edit]

Hi, The pages called Spectrum Internet features a product called Charter Spectrum Internet. I represent Spectrum Internet Limited. Do I have the right to just completely edit this page? Thanks CB94.126.210.186 (talk) 14:35, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

Hello, Wikipedia discourages editing where there may be an association with the subject of an article or a conflict of interest, or where it forms part of your job. Please see WP:COI and WP:PAID for more information. You can request that edits be made by placing an edit request on the the article's talk-page. Please see WP:PER for more info. Any requests should be backed up by a reliable source. Please feel free to return here if you need further assistance. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 14:52, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
And no, you cannot replace a page about another company with an article about your own. Joseph2302 16:30, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

Ok -so how do I add a page about the real Spectrum Internet?! Not from a promotional point of view but because the company has done a number of firsts in Wales — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.126.210.186 (talk) 17:55, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

The fact that you want to add an article about your company implies that you are here for promotional reasons. You are discouraged from editing an article about your company because of your conflict of interest; but not forbidden. You may (after making the WP:PAID declaration) create a draft using the Article wizard, and expect to have it fiercely reviewed. Please read your first article, and remember that Wikipedia has essentially no interest in what you or the company say about themselves: it is only interested in what people who have no connection whatever with the company have published about it in reliable places such as major newspapers or books from reputable publishers. That excludes anything from the company's own website, anything based on an interview or press release, any passing mentions in directories, and anything on social media. --ColinFine (talk) 19:53, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

how to create link in wiki article to point to wiktionary[edit]

I want a link in my wiki page to point to a page in the Wiktionary. This syntax does not work.

Similes

How to fix it? The page is in my sandbox2

thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smithriedel (talkcontribs) 15:03, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

Hello, Smithriedel. The syntax is :wikt:Category:English similes, which produces wikt:Category:English similes. (I'm not sure if you need the initial ':', but it does no harm: you need it when you are referring to a category within Wikipedia, and I always use it for interwiki links). If you want it not to show the 'wiki' prefix, you can use the pipe trick::wikt:Category:English similes, which displays as Category:English similes. If you want to suppress the "Category" as well, you'll need to give explicit text after the pipe: English similes--ColinFine (talk) 16:05, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

Please note THat Thomas Milne is no longer Head Coach. New Head Coach is Brian Perrin — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.52.182.205 (talk) 16:18, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi 70.52.182.205
You haven't said which article you are referring to, but although "Thomas Milne" appears 7 times in our articles - as shown here - none of these refer to him as a head coach - so I wonder if you have the spelling right? Could you please confirm which article you are referring to and cite a reliable source where the change can be verified - Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 16:29, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
I'm going to take a guess and suggest you mean Thomas Milne, the former Aurora Tigers coach. The article Aurora Tigers lists the new head coach, however I suspect your complaint is with Google. Unfortunately, we do not control Google, and you would need to contact them directly. Joseph2302 19:02, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
The IP updated the article four minutes after posting here.[2] There is a Google feature in https://www.google.com/search?q=Aurora+Tigers I haven't seen before. Below the search hit on Wikipedia's Aurora Tigers in the left column I see the text:
Owner(s)‎: ‎Jim & Rita Thomson Home arena‎: ‎Aurora Community Center
Head coach‎: ‎Thomas Milne (2015-16) City‎: ‎Aurora, Ontario‎, Canada
Google hasn't indexed our article since the IP update so "‎Thomas Milne" is still displayed at the time of my post. These fields are apparently taken from Wikipedia, unlike the fields in the Google Knowledge Graph at the top right of many searches (not this search). There only a specific paragraph ending with "Wikipedia" is taken from Wikipedia, as explained in . PrimeHunter (talk) 21:19, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

Finding interaction with another editor[edit]

Is there a way to find when last I interacted with another editor? By interaction I mean any of: posted to their talk page or they posted on mine; pinged them on any other page; or edited the same (arbitrary) page as them within X hours/days? Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:55, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

At the top of your user page and talk page is a line of words, one of which is "contributions". Clicking on this will show your recent contributions and you can look through these to find interactions. Britmax (talk) 19:21, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
Thanks Britmax but that only finds instances when I have edited the other Wikipedian's talk page, otherwise their username is not recorded in my contributions log. Scrolling through thousands of entries over months is also not easy, so effectively it will only find fairly recent posts by myself to that persons talk page. It is far easier to simply search their talk page archive. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 20:22, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Tools#User interaction analysis mentions two tools. The first is down or closed. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:42, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
 • Dodger67 hello. The issue you may find with the second tool is that it only shows the page name and does not lead you to the specific archive where your and another user's name may be present. A workaround could be using the Everything search option on Wikipedia and searching for the user string "User1" AND "User2" – including the double quotes (for example, to search for your and my interactions, I would type "Lourdes" AND "Dodger67" in the search box while checking the Everything option). This shows the specific archive rather than just the page name. Another workaround could be to use Google and type "Doger67" AND "Lourdes" site:en.wikipedia.org in the search box. Of course, none of these definitively shows we both have interacted, just that our names are mentioned in the respective pages. And you may have to weed out irrelevant search results yourself. Thanks. Lourdes 23:59, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

Coke Studio Pakistan[edit]

Hi once again! The mentioned section of article contains a table, which does not look like a "good table". Can it be very-much-simplified? Also, the table (I think) must contain the name of Ali Zafar, because he was also featured as a lead singer in seasons 1, 2 and 8 of the mentioned studio. Hope for kind response. Thanks! M.Billoo2000 (talk) 20:51, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

Since the chart is so wide, why not just convert it to a list? †dismas†|(talk) 21:01, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
Or flip the horizontal and vertical axis. Season 8 and 9 are ridiculously wide in the current table. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:32, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
Anything, that makes it look good than what it is now (looks like a garbage, hahaha!). Being a new user, it would be very hard for me. Thanks for your kind response! Also, one thing that there are so many "repeated links", I think they should be used once in table. Thanks! M.Billoo2000 (talk) 22:03, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

Srbernadette, I got it. Thanks for the notice! Did you know that you can fix this yourself? Just hit "edit this page" at the top of the screen, and you'll be able to fix errors like this easily: change the text that appears in the big white box, and then hit the "Save changes" button at the bottom. Even if you can't type the correct character (like here, maybe), it's often easy to find it somewhere else and copy/paste it; in this case, the source URL has his name at the bottom left, so you can copy the ü character and paste it into the article. I'm looking at the Citroën CX page, and in the lede it says "The CX was also the final successful model of the "big Citroën" era, which began in 1934.[1]" - and is backed up by the attached ref. I'm not sure of this claim though - the Citroën XM was the direct successor, and whilst not a runaway success it did sell over 300,000 units. But I don't understand the reference language - Danish maybe? So how do I request or tag the reference for clarity as it's in another language? Chaheel Riens (talk) 09:45, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

 • Hello Chaheel Riens, the best place to ask source queries is either the talk page of the respective article (you can challenge the source and request clarification, per our verifiability policy), and/or the reliable sources noticeboard. Having said that, the source you refer to says the following: "Den Store Citroën blev født på en ikke helt klarlagt dato i 1938 som Citroën TA 15H, og antog mange former og gestalter indtil den døde den 20. december 2012 i skikkelse af Citroën C6, 74 år gamble," which, loosely translated, would mean that Citroën TA 15H was the first model and Citroën C6 was the last model (with 74 years between them till 20 December 2012, when it closed production). The source does mention that the CX was very successful, and that the XM, its successor, was a disaster ("XM var en katastrofe"). Nevertheless, if you are interested, take the issue up on the talk page of the article (or the source to RSN). Thanks. Lourdes 02:56, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Hello. I've found numerous pages plagued by this error. Example: MOBB. At the bottom it says, "Cite error: A ref tag is missing the closing ref (see the help page).". I've only seen it on pages with Korean text. I can't find where the issue is. Hope someone can help, and please ping me. Thanks. --Jennica Talk 12:59, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

 • Jennica hello. See Help:Cite errors/Cite error included ref to understand the error. I've corrected the error in MOBB. The error is exactly how it is described, and occurs when the tags are not closed out properly. Thanks. Lourdes 13:54, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Hi Jennica - That error was actually created by text at the top of the Template:Ikon and was added to the template yesterday, in this diff, which I have reverted. Are there any more pages with this problem? - please note you may need to WP:Purge pages with this template on, before the new version can be seen. - Arjayay (talk) 13:57, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
@Arjayay: actually i think the problem was a space inbetween the }} in the "cite web" references, that's why I couldn't find the error. it's not really because there is a ref tag left open.--Jennica Talk 14:03, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
No, it was clearly the Template. If you go to the diff I provided, you can see the error message above the template, if you click "← Older edit" you can see that it was not present before that edit, and if you click "Newer edit →" (twice) you can see that removing the text removed the error message. Before making the removal, I looked at other pages using the template, (e.g. Dumb & Dumber (single)) and they all had the same warning - which disappeared when I altered the template. - Arjayay (talk) 14:12, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

A Mr Edward R Williams constantly claims to have written Liverpool football club fans song "fields of anfield road" there is documented proof that Mr Gary ferguson from Huyton Liverpool did in fact write the original wording, stated in a book written by Nicky allt "the boys from the Mersey " where I states so , also on all hillsborough charity cds it clearly states and thanks mr Gary ferguson for allowing the use of the song and words Mr ferguson wrote, Mr Edwards is not the author and is posting false information I have altered the post several times but he changes it back as soon as it's altered — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.30.173.46 (talk) 15:20, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Convenience link - The Fields of Anfield Road
IP 62.30.173.46 - when you say "I have altered the post several times", the most recent changes were by a user called User:Fergpgsly You say there is documented proof - could you please be more specific. The book you refer to is published by Milo Books, which seems to specialize in books on "hooligans". I do not know if they would be considered a "reliable source", with a reputation for fact checking.
Although only a Wiki, liverpoolfc.wikia states:-
"The first two verses and chorus were written by Liverpool FC supporter from Huyton Liverpool , Gary ferguson, ..... the third verse - written by local musician John Power - was added in 2009 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster."
As it stands - the current claim for Edward R Williams is also unsourced, so I believe this should be removed until a reliable source can be cited. - Arjayay (talk) 15:46, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

least frequently updated pages?[edit]

Is there somewhere I can view a list of pages that haven't been updated in years? I tried searching for the terms but I guess I'm having trouble putting it into words. --Jennica Talk 15:34, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

 • That includes disambiguation pages, which in general nobody should be editing unless something new by that name has come along since. I suspect Wikipedia:Dusty articles is what you're actually looking for. ‑ Iridescent 16:48, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
 • "That includes disambiguation pages, which in general nobody should be editing unless something new by that name has come along since." Jennica, while what Iridescent is mentioning may be kept in mind, there's no general policy or guideline which prohibits editors from editing disambiguation pages like that. You should keep our editorial guidelines in mind and give a quick read to WP:Disambiguation if you haven't already. Otherwise, go ahead and feel free to edit. We assume good faith. Also, the page WP:Dusty articles is manually maintained (the last edit was from an IP) and just escaped an Mfd. So double check the entries. If you want a list without disambiguation pages or redirects (as an editor, it's your discretion of course), the better place to see would be Wikipedia:Database reports/Forgotten articles than WP:Dusty articles. Thanks. Lourdes 02:18, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
 • Er yes, Lourdes, both myself and Jennica are aware of how Wikipedia works; she's been an editor here for eleven years, and I'm a former arbitrator, checkuser and oversighter; you don't need to give us patronising explanations of "anyone can edit" and "assume good faith" or order us to "keep our editorial guidelines in mind". ‑ Iridescent 08:10, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
 • Iridescent, hello. You perhaps misread my explanation to Jennica. I apologize if it sounded patronizing to you; Jennica has already thanked me for my support much before you responded, and I'm thankful to her for that. Our intent at Help Desk is to guide whoever requests help, irrespective of their experience or tenure; that is one reason my statement of "there's no general policy or guideline which prohibits editors from editing disambiguation pages like that" was tempered with a qualification: "what Iridescent is mentioning may be kept in mind". There's no question of bringing into disrepute your background of being a former arbitrator, checkuser and oversighter through my help desk suggestions. Your experience is much valued and respected by all here, and more so by editors like me. Please don't hesitate to ask me for any assistance that you may require, or ping me on my talk page any time you wish. Thanks. Lourdes 09:41, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Picture Removal due to 'Permission Error'[edit]

Hi there,

I'm a new Wikipedia user and I was wondering if somebody could assist me as I am having trouble adding a photograph on a Wikipedia page. The photograph I was hoping to add to a particular page was of the Italian Ambassador's residence which I sourced from Wikimedia Commons. However, when I went to view it after saving, a link appeared which informed me there was a 'permission error' for some reason.

The URL for the article in question is as follows; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucan,_Dublin

If somebody could inform me what my error is I would greatly appreciate it. PucaPower (talk) 16:51, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi PucaPower
I don't understand your 'permission error' message, but the formatting of the file was incorrect - this diff shows the text as you left it, and how I altered it for the picture to show - User:Yunshui/Images for beginners is a good, basic, tutorial on images which should answer most of your questions if you get stuck again - Arjayay (talk) 17:06, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi Arjayay, thank you for helping with that and for the link! I don't understand what it means either, I'm not an admin but I am a registered user so I thought it would let me add a photo. Was it something wrong with the photograph or the way I added it perhaps? I hope it is easily fixed because I was hoping to add more. PucaPower (talk) 17:22, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

(edit conflict) :If you got it from Commons there's a link towards the top of the page, 'use this file' with the Wikipedia logo. It will give you a link to insert on a Wiki page and you can then 'pipe' for thumb and caption. Eagleash (talk) 17:26, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for that advice Eagleash, that would actually save me a lot of trouble rather than keep copying and pasting. PucaPower (talk) 17:53, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Probably too soon. Please stop asking for articles about things well in the future. When we're nearer the time, I'm sure they'll get articles. Joseph2302 22:29, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Predecessors and successors in infoboxes[edit]

As a general rule, should a politician's predecessors and successors be included in their infobox? Past precedent would appear to indicate as much (e.g Barack Obama; Winston Churchill), but I'm having a hard time convincing people over at Talk:Michael Portillo. I'd be interested to hear people's opinions. Best wishes, Specto73 (talk) 22:40, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

 • Specto73, hello. As much as I can see, the debate is about not duplicating information that already is mentioned at the bottom of the said article (or somewhere below, as I can understand). In my opinion, including predecessors and successors to politicians is an imperative in the mobile era, because an infobox comes right at the top of the article in the mobile view, while few editors have smartphones (or the patience to scroll down) that can parse the template boxes at the bottom of any article containing the same information. As an Rfc has already been started on the talk page of the said article, I am confident that more editors would comment and consensus would become clearer. Thanks. How do seek feedback on content in my sandbox before I publish it?[edit]

Hello,

I have to edit a Wikipedia page for a seminar I am taking. I have written and posted the content I would like to contribute in my personal "sandbox." I would like for it to be checked to ensure it fits with the Wikipedia guidelines before I publish it publicly. Can I do that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MirandaMcQuade (talkcontribs) 23:18, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

I see you have gone ahead and copied it to Naïm Kattan. I have done a bit of fixup on your garbled section headers and added a References section. —teb728 t c 23:55, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

new here[edit]

ok so how do I move my article from sandbox to the main page of Wikipedia?? its called the EMPIRE OF MANKIND ITS IN MY SANDBOX ITS NOT READY I WAS JUST WONDERING Devonte1992 (talk) 03:34, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

See WP:MOVE. Basically, you click the "move" link at the top of the page, specify the page's new name, and save. You have to be autoconfirmed in order to move pages, and that requires your account to be several days old and to have made 10+ edits. Obviously your account is old enough, so you just need to make a few more edits. However, please don't move User:Devonte1992/sandbox — this quite obviously isn't actual history, and whether it's a joke or an outright hoax, it's not something that belongs in a Wikipedia article. Nyttend (talk) 03:40, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
@Devonte1992: If your draft is about Imperium (Warhammer 40,000), we already have an article on that subject. —teb728 t c 04:51, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
Hi, Devonte1992. I haven't looked at your draft; but I would always advise an inexperienced editor not to move a draft to mainspace themselves, but to request review of if by adding (with the the curly brackets) to the top of it.It may take a few days or weeks before somebody reviews it, but you will get feedback if it is not acceptable, and if it is, the reviewer will look after moving it and sorting out any naming issues which might arise. If you copy it over yourself and it is not ready, it may get deleted. --ColinFine (talk) 10:26, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

hey yea no I'm not trying to write about Imperium Warhammer 40,000 I was using the template you write my own article for a book I'm writing I didn't mean for anyone to see my work I didn't post it and don't know how anyone saw itDevonte1992 (talk) 12:44, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

We saw it because you asked a question about it. If you don't want anyone to see it, add Db-userreq to the top of the page to register a user request for deletion. In any case it is possible that someone else might tag it with Db-notwebhost. --David Biddulph (talk) 13:05, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Nepal From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[edit]

The second sentence from the second paragraph starts with "It is separated from Bangladesh...." which I think gives two meanings for those who understand and speak English but not so fluent in it. And I have dealt it with people who misunderstood it, but I couldn't satisfy them with my answers and references! They would just tell me to open Wiki page of Nepal and read that Sentence/Phrase. My little suggestion to Wikipedia would be, this part; " It is separated from Bangladesh...." must be changed into something easy to understand for everyone, so it never starts a bet/debate or any misunderstandings/quarrel etc.!

Would be great if Wikipedia did this little change :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.200.41.66 (talk) 04:00, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

This is the only edit by your IP address and I don't know what "my proposal" refers to. If you are citing Wikipedia in a work outside Wikipedia then see Wikipedia:Citing Wikipedia. If you are trying to write a Wikipedia article then other Wikipedia articles should not be cited. See Wikipedia:Citing sources. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:33, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

time zone of revision history?[edit]

Hi, When looking at the revision history of any given wiki article or page, what time zone are the edits listed in? thanks --Jerome1770 (talk) 13:00, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi Jerome1770 - they are all in UTC - Arjayay (talk) 13:02, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
You can include a UTC clock in the top line of your Wikipedia screen by clicking Preferences → Gadgets → Appearance and then checking the second line:- "Add a clock to the personal toolbar that displays the current time in UTC and provides a link to purge the current page" - Arjayay (talk) 13:07, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
@Jerome1770: They are in UTC by default. Logged in users can change it at "Time zone" at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rendering. The setting does not apply to timestamps in signatures because they are saved in the wikitext and not generated on request by the software. Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets has: "Change UTC-based times and dates, such as those used in signatures, to be relative to local time". It requires JavaScript. There are some wrong informations give about our organisation. It is not good to do so. Please kindly remove them. it is not going to inspire people by reading that. yours sincerely Srinivas

Hello, Srinivas. You haven't told us which is your institution - we have over five million articles. If you find things in any article which you think can be improved, you are welcome to edit the article to correct them, or else to post a message on the article's talk page (every article has a talk page, though in some cases it has not yet been created, and you may create it). If you can find a published for any information you add, so much the better. --ColinFine (talk) 14:28, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
Since you refer to it as 'my institution' please see WP:COI (our notes on Conflict-Of-Interest) before editing the article. RJFJR (talk) 14:49, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Use of a custom infobox within an article[edit]

Hello Helpdesk. Most of this message was previously posted at Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions#Use of a custom infobox within an article. I am asking here (and not at Template talk:Infobox, WP:TFD, or WP:PUMPTECH as suggested by Jmcgnh) because I want to first confirm the use of infoboxes within an article before I embark on the development of the infobox itself. This is a Wikipedia:Manual of Style matter and not a programming question. My query (repeated):

I am drafting an article at Draft:Open energy system models and wonder if it is appropriate to develop and use a custom infobox to summarize the key attributes of the models I am describing? I have a prototype template at User:RobbieIanMorrison/energy model and an example of its use at User:RobbieIanMorrison/sandbox/work in progress 7. I think I have seen this method on a page describing software licenses (but could not find it again). I also looked through the Wikipedia documentation but could not see anything confirming or banning this usage. Is this practice acceptable? If so, do you have any advice on its development and application?

Thanks in advance. RobbieIanMorrison (talk) 14:26, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Angry Birds Article Assault[edit]

Two users, "Galatz" and "The1337Gamer", are flying around the Angry Birds articles and intentionally removing the tables containing valuable information about the game's worlds and characters, calling them "gameguides" and "cheats". I am persistently placing them back up, on to be dismayed to see them taken down and crude remarks left at me by the two. What di I do to protect the pages I worked so hard on? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:387:1:811:0:0:0:5E (talk) 14:30, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

The reasons have been explained to you at both User talk:The1337gamer#Angry Birds and User talk:Galatz#Angry birds. These replies referred to the discussion at Talk:Angry Birds POP!#Level tables a discussion which included 3 other editors, including a sysop. Consensus is against you and declaring "I'm going to stand my ground and keep reposting the tables" will only get you blocked.
Please note User:Galatz stated "I thought it should stay, but there was a consensus it shouldn't, which means it gets removed, very simple" - he may not like, but accepts, the consensus, and you need to do the same. - Arjayay (talk) 15:14, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

Page move déjà vu[edit]
