Contraction Timer helps you time how long and how frequent your contractions are when going into labor. It shows the time of each contraction, their durations and the interval between them.
Please note that if your phone doesn't have Android 4 or newer, it will still use the old version of the app.
Please purchase Contraction Timer Donate if you like this app. It also enables the ability to share your times in an emailed spreadsheet, and also enabled the Android Beam feature (Android 4+ phones with NFC only), so that you can instantly beam your times to another device—particularly useful when your partner comes home from work and takes over the timing operations!

17 Sept 2016 baby - used to 5min apart 1min contraction This app was precise with helping me track contractions, reporting to midwives, and when to go to hospital, without having to focus on a watch. It helped when to expect the next one and see pattern to judge what to do. There is no time for messing about on paper or in your head! It saves you being in hospital too long. I was 9cm dilated when I arrived.

Awesome app Very easy to use especially during very painful contractions! All you do is hit start and stop and the app does the rest! I used this app to time my contractions last week when I was in labor with my daughter! Works great and has everything neatly displayed! You can even leave a comment next to each contraction if you want.

Used through to 9cm dialated So easy to use, I wanted to labor at home as long as possible- once contractions started they were 4 minutes apart and I was able to keep track easily through to 2-3 minutes apart and got to the hospital at 9.5cm dilated. Simple and straightforward, much needed during such an intense time!

Perfect! This app was so helpful. I just had to push start and stop. No need to write down times or go back and figure duration and interval time frames. It was perfect to illustrate the frequency of my contractions to my doctor and really helped me decide when to go to the hospital.

Great and reliable! A great app - using it to time the early contractions of our 2nd child. Simple to use and a great UI to boot. Two minor suggestions: let me add manual entries (for those times when the phone is just out of reach) and show the average duration/interval values for a quick summary!

Life saver! I was unsure if I had to go to hospital after waking up with contractions. Used this app to time my pain for an hour and sure enough my contractions were less than 5 minutes apart. Threw my hospital bags into the car and made it in time to the delivery room to give birth an hour later. This app was a life saver!

Great for tracking feeds too! This app was great during false & true labour. Entries can be edited, deleted & have notes added to them. After having my baby, I now use it to track my son's feeds. Another super awesome thing this app does is keep the timer going even if your device runs out of battery, which mine has done a couple of times, & resumes when unit is switched back on. Perfect! Well done to the developer :)
Easy to use I used this while my husband was driving me to the hospital with contractions 2 and 3 min apart. It was so helpful and fun to go back and look at post delivery. I am using this now for baby #3. I've tried a few contraction aps and this is by far my favorite.
Simple and convenient I had a 2 hour drive to make to deliver... We weren't sure we would make it in time. Thankfully we did. This app helped keep track of my contractions easily and we were able to gauge when it was time to leave. Simple, easy to use and convenient. Even my husband used it with no problems/instructions.
Here's a hint... It works just fine... But I'll say one thing... If you're using it you're probably not in established labour! Once I got properly started I didn't want to be doing with it anymore. Seems to be the best way to tell. Your contractions can be 5 mins apart right from the beginning. It was when I was getting impatient with people asking me questions that I knew I was right to be phoning the hospital. Then again, some people pop their babas out really quick whereas my labour was a 36 hour odyssey.
Amazing and easy to use This app was perfect for timing my wife's contractions! Simple and easy to use, with no fuss or funky options \ ads that get in the way. If you want to have an app to time contractions when you are in labor, I cannot recommend this one enough.
Nice app but Very clear and easy to use. No ads which is nice. Only thing to improve is to make it clearer that "interval" means total cycle time, not just the gaps between contractions. Took a while to realise this!
Simple yet effective I wish I could get an option for the times to go from top to bottom as well as bottom to top. Also an option so we can see the contractions on one page on your screen and an option to save the pictures for our birth albums would be my suggestions.
Worked great! Did everything it was supposed to right up until i left for the hospital (about 2.5 hours after my water broke). After that they got too strong and fast to even pay attention to my phone. Samsung sg3 first time mom
Pretty Helpful Omg, this app was super helpful. I hate timing my contractions, and there's just so much distractions. This app does all the hard work for you while you just breathe and focus on your body. :)
Really great. The only possible improvement I would strongly suggest is a desktop widget for quick access. And the ability to click "sleep". So that large gaps are quickly recorded as such. Also some form of graph/chart summary which can be viewed as a picture would be cool. Although the timeline covers this to some degree.
Excellent little app Does what it's supposed to without any extra gimmicks. A couple suggestions: 1) Allow the recording to function on locked screen itself. 2) display the average duration of contractions within the last hour to measure against the 5-1-1 rule.
Perfect Everything about this app was perfect. From ease of learning and use to functionality. I didn't feel like it was missing any features I'd have wanted and it had some I loved, but wouldn't have thought of. I downloaded it when my wife started her birthing and there was no time required to understand the basic features and about a minute of exploring to find the little goodies that made it even better. Thank you for a great and free app!
Very grateful I downloaded this app! Baby came 10 days early. Doc told me earlier the week before not to expect our little one early so when I was having increased pain I thought it must be Braxton hicks labor or early labor. Had I not downloaded this app, I probably wouldn't have seen that the pains were 5 min or less apart and lasting between 30 sec and a min 30. Called the doc and went in @ 6cm and had baby girl that evening.
Simple and informative My wife originally dismissed using an app to record contractions, but wound up begging for the phone when she used this app. Nice simple interface and summary statistics that allow you to assess progress.
Absolutely Perfect! Does everything you need with a simple straight forward interface, including edits and a nice visual display of the last two hours of contractions. Made me look like a birthing pro with our first child's labor.
One less thing to have to remember There is enough for us moms (and dads) to remember and during contractions time blurs... thus this app is helpful in being able to time contractions. I used it with both of my kids. Thanks so much for making one thing easier!
Its truly works. I used it for the first time the day i had bad contractions. Two hours later, my daughter was brought into this world. The app was on point with my contractions. :)
Good for early labor Obviously once you're in active labor, it will be obvious, but if you are high risk, curious, or unsure of how you're progressing, it is nice to have! I used it to see when I was 8min apart all the way down to 4. Once I was 1...I didn't have this out at all.
Don't really need it. This is my 4th child so I don't really need this app but I was interested in how many contractons I was having a day. This app would be more usefull and easier to keep track if there was a widget or if it stayed on at the too of my phone so its faster to get into when I want to use my phone for other things between contractions.
great visualization of timings - easy the edit errors The easy editability made this app stand a cut above the rest. It was easy to see the trajectory contractions were taking via the visual markers and avoided confusion caused by timers that just kept a running average of frequency and duration. Seriously, Contraction Timer's top bar made it super easy to know where timings stood whereas the timer our doula used could spit out a skewed average and hid any editabilty behind three other menues. Pick this one up!
Helped so much Simple to use and easy through the pain. Used it for the entire duration of my 32 hour labour. My labour never established a steady timing but was able to know when to go based on this app!
Brilliant app Used this app last month when I was being induced with my daughter. Helped me to keep track of the lengh and frequency of my contractions and therefore was able to tell the midwives when I was ready to go down to the labour ward. Definitely recommend
Very easy to use Downloaded this app at the last minute. Needed to time my contractions in order to know when to go back to the hospital. This app did the job without a bunch of stuff to figure out.
Loved this Just had my sweet baby girl and used this for the contractions the day before my water broke. Truly easy to use, such a relief that it did a lot of the work for me.
FLAWLESS and AMAZING I just had my first child today and used this app to track our progress! It worked PERFECTLY every step of the way! I would recommend this application 100% for labor time!
Easy to use This app was super easy to use and helped me to keep track of my early Labour contractions and report to the midwives. Took away the hassle of having to keep paper and pen and track it myself.
Helped me massively in labour! Thank you so much fir a fantastic app, timing my contractions helped me to stay calm and focused during labour, a great way to get you to the middle (hardest) part of the contraction, knowing from that point the pain eases x
Great little app Did exactly what it advertised to do and nothing more, fast and responsive. I recommend it if you find yourself needing to time contractions.
I tried out this app and used a stop watch too. The start stop function works out fine but I don't understand the minutes apart bit. As I made a minute between and it said 2.20 so I did 10 seconds between stop and start but said it was 40 seconds. So not reliable in the slightest unless I just don't know how it works
Must have app Simple. Just what you need when you're in screaming pain and dogtired. Used for 2.5 days of contractions, all thru both nights.
Easy to use while in pain Super easy to use. Super simple. I could be hunched over focused on my breathing. But still be able to use this and count where I was at. Very very useful
Thank you! I've used it for my two false alarms - my husband timed for me, but this is so simple I can even do it myself while having contractions.
Not very useful Not very useful to help the mother predict and prepare for the upcoming contraction, since the rest time is not counted, only the contraction length. Could be used to see when to call/go.
Looks like this would work well... I didn't even get a chance to use it. I got strapped to a monitor that told me when they were.
