Only two hours from Bangkok by car, Rayong City is a popular getaway destination amongst urban holidaymakers who prefer a more peaceful beach atmosphere than the nearby touristy Pattaya. Those who are continuing on to Koh Samet will also find Rayong City the perfect base, as it’s possible to do a bit of sightseeing and shopping before hopping on a speedboat or a ferry at Baan Pae.
On the eastern gulf coast of Thailand, 179 km from Bangkok. Modest beaches dotted around Rayong Province are tranquil paradises for sea lovers who wish for hideaway places near the capital. Months of monsoon allow lush forest as well as fruit orchards to cool the heat of the day, and give produce during May of each year, so fruit lovers always travel here for various tasty fresh tropical fruits, particularly durian, rambutan, and mangosteen. After the end of the monsoon season in late-October, the crystal clear waters off Rayong along its hundred kilometre coastline welcomes all visitors.

This was our first time going to Rayong and Koh Samet in Thailand. We rode my Honda CBR500R from Bangkok to Rayong (~4 hours with stops), stayed at the Marriott Rayong for 2 nights, visited Koh Samet island for a day, then dropped by the Sri Racha Tiger Zoo on the way back to Bangkok.
The Marriott Rayong has some fantastic views of the sunset from its swimming pools and beaches! The hotel itself was really nice too :)
The island of Koh Samet was a little tricky getting around (since I decided to hire an ATV and drive us around and had no idea where anything was) but was fun nevertheless. Some of the beaches and the views here are absolutely superb!
The Sri Racha Tiger Zoo was a nice surprise because we hadn't planned to visit it until we drove past it on the way home. My misses fulfilled a dream of hers to feed baby tigers, so that was nice :)

On 7th July 2016 Facebook Fanpage FM.91 Traffic Pro posted a clip of an accident happening in front of Orawin Wittaya School, Pluakdaeng, Rayong causing 6 injures to 3 men and 3 women.
2 of the 6 are in a coma and were sent to Pluakdeang Hospital.
The pickup, belonging to Mr. Thanaphol, a 35 year old teacher in Orawin Wittaya Schoolj was turning into the school with 2 motorcycles behind him, when suddenly a Toyota Hilux Vigo belonging to 40 year old Mr. Supachai, drove into him at high speed and slamming Mr. Thanaphol’s pickup into the 2 motorcycles.
Another pickup that followed didn’t have enough time to brake and hit the back of the Vigo and flipped over.
The polices are now investigating at the location.

Rayong
Rayong (Thai: ระยอง, pronounced [ra.jɔːŋ]) is a city (thesaban nakhon) on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand. It is the capital of Rayong Province, and covers the tambon Tha Pradu and Pak Nam and parts of tambon Choeng Noen and Noen Phra, all within Mueang Rayong district. As of 2005 the population was 54,641. The main industry is fishing, and it is the main producer of Thailand's fish sauce. It is also the center of the chemical and auto industries. In 2012 Ford Motor Company opened an assembly plant in Rayong to expand Ford's presence in the ASEAN area, employing some 2,200 people.

This was our first time going to Rayong and Koh Samet in Thailand. We rode my Honda CBR500R from Bangkok to Rayong (~4 hours with stops), stayed at the Marriott Rayong for 2 nights, visited Koh Samet island for a day, then dropped by the Sri Racha Tiger Zoo on the way back to Bangkok.
The Marriott Rayong has some fantastic views of the sunset from its swimming pools and beaches! The hotel itself was really nice too :)
The island of Koh Samet was a little tricky getting around (since I decided to hire an ATV and drive us around and had no idea where anything was) but was fun nevertheless. Some of the beaches and the views here are absolutely superb!
The Sri Racha Tiger Zoo was a nice surprise because we hadn't planned to visit it until we drove past it on the way home. My misses fulfilled a dream of hers to feed baby tigers, so that was nice :)
Cameras used: Contour Roam 2 (with waterproof case), Canon 550D with stock 18-55mm lens

On 7th July 2016 Facebook Fanpage FM.91 Traffic Pro posted a clip of an accident happening in front of Orawin Wittaya School, Pluakdaeng, Rayong causing 6 injures to 3 men and 3 women.
2 of the 6 are in a coma and were sent to Pluakdeang Hospital.
The pickup, belonging to Mr. Thanaphol, a 35 year old teacher in Orawin Wittaya Schoolj was turning into the school with 2 motorcycles behind him, when suddenly a Toyota Hilux Vigo belonging to 40 year old Mr. Supachai, drove into him at high speed and slamming Mr. Thanaphol’s pickup into the 2 motorcycles.
Another pickup that followed didn’t have enough time to brake and hit the back of the Vigo and flipped over.
The polices are now investigating at the location.

In this episode we cook up a healthy picnic and go for a little road trip stopping off at The Coffee Club Outbound Services on the way where we get a dose of smelly coffee ;-) .
