A death anniversary is a custom observed in several Asian cultures including China, Georgia, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Israel, Japan, Bangladesh, Korea, Pakistan, Philippines, Russia, and Vietnam, as well as in other nations with significant overseas Chinese, Japanese, Jewish, Korean, and Vietnamese populations. Like a birthday, it is celebrated each year, but instead of on the date of birth of the individual being celebrated, it is celebrated on the day on which a family member or other significant individual died. There are also similar memorial services that are held at different intervals, such as every week.
Although primarily a manifestation of ancestor worship, the tradition has also been associated with Confucianism and Buddhism (in East Asian cultural civilizations) or Hinduism (South Asia but mainly in India).
Death anniversaries are also commemorated in Judaism (the majority religion of Israel) where it is called by various names. Celebration of mass in memory of a loved one on or near the anniversary of their death is also a key part of Roman Catholic tradition.
Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones (/nɑːˈsɪər/; born September 14, 1973), better known as Nas /ˈnɑːz/, is an American rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur, record producer and actor. The son of jazz musician Olu Dara, Nas has released eight consecutive platinum and multi-platinum albums and sold over 25 million records worldwide since 1994. He is also an entrepreneur through his own record label; he serves as associate publisher of Mass Appeal magazine and is the owner of a Fila sneaker store. He is currently signed to Mass Appeal Records.
His musical career began in 1991 when he was featured on Main Source's track "Live at the Barbeque". His debut album Illmatic, released in 1994, received universal acclaim from both critics and the hip hop community; it is frequently ranked as one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time.
Nas' follow-up album, It Was Written, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, stayed on top for four consecutive weeks, went Platinum twice in only two months, and made Nas internationally known. From 2001 to 2005, Nas was involved in a highly publicized feud with rapper Jay Z. In 2006, Nas signed to Def Jam. In 2010, he released a collaboration album with reggae artist Damian Marley, donating all royalties to charities active in Africa. His eleventh studio album, Life Is Good, was released in 2012, and was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards.
KPWR (105.9 FM, Power 106) is a commercial radio station located in Los Angeles, California, broadcasting to the Greater Los Angeles area on an analog signal and in HD Radio. KPWR airs a Rhythmic Top 40 format playing hip hop and R&B with occasional rhythmic pop/dance titles. It is owned and operated by Emmis Communications and is one of its two flagship stations alongside WQHT ("Hot 97") in New York City.
KPWR's studios are based in the Los Angeles suburb of Burbank, and the transmitter is at Mount Wilson.
105.9 FM signed on as easy listening KFI-FM on July 15, 1946, later becoming KBMS in 1958 before adopting the KWST call letters and "K-West 106" moniker in 1969. During its years as KBMS and KWST, its format had been beautiful music prior to its flip to a rock format on January 1, 1975. K-West emulated the then-popular sound of KMET and KLOS. By 1981, though, the ratings had slipped and KWST had changed to a Top 40 format, and let all of their disc jockeys go. KWST eventually evolved into KMGG, or "L.A.'s Magic 106 FM" in summer 1982, and played upbeat Adult Contemporary music.

This is me singing Valjean's part in Fantine's Death (Come To Me) from Les Miserables. While Valjean is a tenor part, his lines in this song are solidly in a bass-baritone range. If you liked this song, you'll probably also like the karaoke version of "A Little Fall of Rain" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BA1FEH5duLg Please rate it if you liked it. And check out my channel for more of my singing.
This is the second of a growing series which is intended to be of aid to young singers. Again there are clips of eminent basses singing this arioso and two Karaoke sections. The first is a MIDI recording. The second is an example of how this can be used to make your own recording. It is wise even if you have a teacher to record yourself. I hesitated to use this piece because it ends on a low D. I've been hoarse for a couple weeks and my low notes are troubling. Fs and Es are easy enough but the Ds and Cs are rough. Maybe like Domingo I'm becoming a baritone in my old age. However I'm still two years younger than he is. I encourage male non-tenors to try this arioso - it's certainly short enough. If the whole thing is easy for you - congratulations you are indeed a bass. It is a tr...

My authentic orchestral instrumental karaoke (no voice) rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables. I am a composer and producer who creates music for film and television. I enjoy producing the most realistic sounding renditions of orchestral music. This version of "I Dreamed a Dream" is incredibly authentic and has an absolutely realistic orchestral sound. Broadway / recording quality. This version includes the full introduction, which is the 'recitative' before the beginning of the main "I dreamed a dream". Enjoy. This level of realism takes a painstaking amount of time and effort. Les Miserables by Alain Boublil, Claude Michel Schoenberg, Herbe...

My authentic orchestral instrumental karaoke (no voice) rendition of "Stars" from Les Miserables. I am a composer and producer who creates music for film and television. I enjoy producing the most realistic sounding renditions of orchestral music. This version of "Stars" is incredibly authentic and has an absolutely realistic orchestral sound. Broadway / recording quality. While Valjean has the prayer "Bring Him Home", this song is Javert's prayer. Javert's strength is also his curse; he cannot see beyond the black and white belief that there exists only "right" and "wrong", as it is written on the doorways to paradise. This is why Valjean represents such a dil...
I'll See You Again is the 13th track in Westlife's latest album (Where We Are 2009) the song is really emotional and very powerful... talks about how a person feels after a death of a loved one...

I enjoy producing the most realistic sounding renditions of orchestral music. This version of "On My Own" is incredibly authentic and has an absolutely realistic orchestral sound. Broadway / recording quality. The song begins with authentic orchestral sounds, but there are a few sections in the score that call for the use of a "synthesizer" keyboard pad sound. [Chorus]
I know all y'all hearin me, none of y'all scare me
Cause niggaz die daily
Comin out with my guns real early
Layin in there stair way
Cause niggaz die daily, so I got niggaz around you
Mad like they back from their man you killed just a year ago today
So call it death anniversary, rushin to emergency niggaz die daily
[Verse 1]
What if I told you that AZ didnt exist
And I put him their played it like a ventriloquist
Cause niggaz spit fake shit and y'all respect it
I spit that real shit and y'all won't buy the record
What if me and the rapper homie was really cool
And we used that whole thing as a media tool
would you say I was a sucka or say I was savvy
If I told you motherfucka's that me n K wasnt married
What if Jungle wrote my shit, and I'm really illiterate
And the whole Nas catalogue was just an experiment
What if I really died when Ill Will got shot
This is Will rhymin right now, Nas is chillin wit 'Pac
What If I did all the Advertisement thrown My Way
And I boned every chick that would throw me some play
I'd have to load another AK cause Niggaz be jealous
Cause we real like them Brazil favelas
[Chorus]
[Verse 2]
Scream at the nigga breathe, dont breathe ya last breath
But you know a nigga dead when he pee on himself
Blatter givin up on 'em, face start to puff on 'em
Bloatin up, nigga cold as fuck tryin hold on 'em
Loosen up the nine on outa his fingers
Angels comin only he can hear the song that they singin
And it hurts me, the planet cursed B
This ya niggaz first year anniversary
This how it goes down in every ghetto
So its quite natural for rappers to settle
And make pop music nursery hooks
Cause back then we thought the only thing that worked was the jooks
They tryna pimp a game that done pimped them first
I'm pimpin the industry so they acknowledge our worth
The next anniversary we all unite
Let's all get together or we loosin the fight
[Chorus]
