I Am may refer to:
Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones (/nɑːˈsɪər/; born September 14, 1973), better known as Nas /ˈnɑːz/, is an American rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur, record producer and actor. The son of jazz musician Olu Dara, Nas has released eight consecutive platinum and multi-platinum albums and sold over 25 million records worldwide since 1994. He is also an entrepreneur through his own record label; he serves as associate publisher of Mass Appeal magazine and is the owner of a Fila sneaker store. He is currently signed to Mass Appeal Records.
His musical career began in 1991 when he was featured on Main Source's track "Live at the Barbeque". His debut album Illmatic, released in 1994, received universal acclaim from both critics and the hip hop community; it is frequently ranked as one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time.
Nas' follow-up album, It Was Written, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, stayed on top for four consecutive weeks, went Platinum twice in only two months, and made Nas internationally known. From 2001 to 2005, Nas was involved in a highly publicized feud with rapper Jay Z. In 2006, Nas signed to Def Jam. In 2010, he released a collaboration album with reggae artist Damian Marley, donating all royalties to charities active in Africa. His eleventh studio album, Life Is Good, was released in 2012, and was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards.
The big things of Australia are a loosely related set of large structures, some of which are novelty architecture and some are sculptures. There are estimated to be over 150 such objects around the country, the first being the Big Scotsman in Medindie, Adelaide, which was built in 1963. There are big things in every state in Australia.
Most big things began as tourist traps found along major roads between destinations.
The big things have become something of a cult phenomenon, and are sometimes used as an excuse for a road trip, where many or all big things are visited and used as a backdrop to a group photograph. Many of the big things are considered works of folk art and have been heritage-listed.
Big means large or of great size.
Big or BIG may also refer to:
"Hate Me Now" is a 1999 hip hop single by rapper Nas featuring Puff Daddy. The backbeat is inspired by, and contains some samples from, Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. It was ranked 119 on XXL's best songs of the 90's.
The music video for the single, directed by Hype Williams and featuring Nas being crucified, was the subject of extreme controversy, as the original edit also featured Puff Daddy on the cross. A Catholic, Puffy had demanded that his crucifixion scene be excised from the broadcast edit of the video, but the wrong edit was incorrectly sent to MTV and TRL, and aired on April 15, 1999. Within minutes of the broadcast, Puffy had barged into the offices of Nas' manager Steve Stoute with several bodyguards, and struck Stoute over the head with a champagne bottle. Stoute later sued Puffy, the suit was settled out of court.
Nas later related the making of the song and the subsequent incident:
There's a play in New York City where a black man played Jesus, and caught a lot of flak. I think, even the mayor at the time, Giuliani, was against it. So my thing was I wanted to be crucified like Jesus in the video, to get back at all those people that don't want to see a black man doing his thing. Me and Puff got hammered to the cross, but after Puff expressed his religious beliefs and speaking to his pastor, he wasn't ready to take that stance, so it was really my idea anyway, so we took his part out. For some reason, I think [my former manager] Steve Stoute let it fly with Puffy still being crucified to the cross, so there was that fight at the office, where Puff jumped on Steve or some shit like that. Both of them were friends of mine, so I kind of stepped in and squashed the whole thing, and it's all in the past. Just growing pains. We were all growing up. That brings back a lot of memories. Even when I throw it on onstage now, it still kills."

Every now and then I get the urge to build a new NAS and this year is no different. With a bunch of old parts to recycle I wanted to create a low-power, high-capacity and fast NAS for backing my virtual machines over iSCSI. To make it more interesting I am going to run the entire NAS as a virtual machine. cineryong http://about.me/neryongc Already considered one of hip-hop's great MCs, a claim made even more believable by the fact that he's able to continue to release relevant, often controversial, material -- material that, while perhaps not as great as what was on his debut, Illmatic, is still interesting and intelligent and generally pretty decent -- Nas has been due for a true greatest-hits collection for a while now. The aptly titled Greatest Hits does just that, tracing his career chronologically, from the aforementioned Illmatic (and it makes sense that there are four tracks from that album -- the most of any -- included) to Street's Disciple (which only boasts one, "Bridging the Gap"). 2006's Hip Hop Is Dead is left out here, but there are two new songs, neither of which is a...

[Chorus]
Try to remember when life was slow
Try to remember when you were young
Try to remember when life was slow
Try to remember when you were young
[Scribe]
You used to be my man, we ran the streets, had a plan to make two-fifty grand
Start a rap band, rock the land from here to Japan
I used my knowledge to expand my thoughts
Caught you trying to sabotage
Betrayed me with a kiss, you used to smile as camouflage
We used to spar in your garage when we was little
Now I write riddles and string together rhythm like fiddles
Like skittle sticks, I picked you up, she was thick in the middle
Betrayal ain't new to me
In fact it's the only thing that's true to me
I'm soon to be gone, since I grew to be strong
What you're doing is wrong, and so long as the mic's in my palm
Going out like Genghis Khan in this track
Taking it right back to the essence, count my friends as blessings
It didn't take me long to write this song, I learned a lesson
Dressing mics like a phenomenom, hanging like gardens to a Babylon
But you need the power to keep moving on
I'm-a lift you upon my shoulders, and in the end forgive you
Watch who you trust, 'cos your friends could be your enemies
They just pretend to be to hide their true identity
Life is love, that's the way that it was meant to be
But love is gone, once erased from the memory
[Chorus]
[Scribe]
Yo, yo ... she was like the warmth of the sun
Didn't think it could be done, she led me to believe she was the one
Who'd love me to the end, a friend I could depend on
Life got complicated, I knew it from the start
She'd be the one who broke my heart
My life it fell apart, emptiness took her place
But it was the taste of hate, that made me recognise her face
Love was gone, without a trace of ever being felt
It wasn't love that helped me when I was down and out
I couldn't cope, my only hope was rope around my neck
The only way to escape the things you can't forget
A lesson learned, don't give your love away unearned
'Cos time turns, and hearts burn, can never be returned ..
... to sender, When I think about the bitch I can remember
Times that I reached out for her Summer and December
Defend her and represent her to the end
But had to make a promise to my heart that I could never love again
Watch who you trust, 'cos your friends could be your enemies
They just pretend to be to hide their true identity
Life is love, that's the way that it was meant to be
But love is gone, once erased from the memory
[Chorus]
[Scribe]
I was a kid and I was full of life, I didn't know
Things like hate, didn't even have a chance to grow
My parents didn't know 'cos there's no way that I could tell
Them that their angel secretly lived in a private hell
Yo, I could smell the alcohol upon his rotten breath
I prayed for death as he laid his hands upon my breasts
I cried and screamed and said 'You're not allowed to do these things'
But he was mean, he told me if I told he'd break my spleen
I was a queen but subjected to being disrespected
I was infected with this hate without an antiseptic
And disgusted with this man with whom my Dad had trusted
I tried to fight it, yo but in the end I had to hide it
Deep in my soul, What part of 'no' didn't he understand
'N' or the 'O', or was it simply 'cos he was a man
I could have ran and escaped to a foreign land
But I stayed, and today it makes me who I am
Watch who you trust, 'cos your friends could be your enemies
They just pretend to be to hide their true identity
Life is love, that's the way that it was meant to be
But love is gone, once erased from the memory
[Chorus]
