Philippines Travel Vlog - Ilocos Tour Series
Vigan Ilocos Sur / Baluarte Zoo / Heritage Village Ilocos Tour Series 7
Vigan City Ilocos Sur is one of the oldest towns in the Philippines, and it voted as one of the new 7 wonder cities in the world. During our recent visit, we walk down along Calle Crisolog (Heritage Village) - a cobble-stoned stret in Vigan with Spanish-colonial fairy tale of dark wood ancestral mansions and horse drawn carriages known as kalesa. The architecture is exceptionally intact, well-preserved and is truly reflective of its roots which makes it a romantic adventure for couples visiting this prominent Ilocos tourist spot.The town itself is a wonder as it's also considered as one of the UNESCO WOrld Heritage site.
After a yester-year walk at Calle Crisologo, head down to Plaza Salcedo in the evening and watch the nightly Vigan Dancing Fountain show.
Prior to going to Vigan Heritage Village, we had the chance to visit Baluarte Zoo - private own Zoo by Chavit Singson. It's about 10 minutes away from the city and it's open everyday to the public for Free.
How to get to Vigan City from Manila
Bus - there are lots of buses coming from Manila (Partas, Victory Liner, Farinas Trans, Florida, RCJ Lines, Maria De Leon). Head to Cubao Bus Terminal or Sampaloc Manila and look for buses heading to Vigan or Laoag City.
Car - 8-10 hours drive to northern part of Philippines
Air - though Vigan has its own airport, flights from Manila to Ilocos is only through Laoag International Airport. From Laoag take the public transportation to a 2 hours bus ride to Vigan.

At sundown I come back to #CalleCrisologo to experience how the street comes alive at night. The feel on this street at night is very European and the warm weather allows the outside dining by restaurants located on the street. I noticed that there are more foot traffic at night, lots of people taking photos, selfies. The restaurants have plenty of patrons, souvenir shops making a roaring trade selling well priced nik naks.
After having a Vigan #empanada and #Longsilog (Vigan Longganisa ,Rice, Egg) for dinner i made sure i had enough time to walk to Plaza Salcedo and view the famous Dancing Fountain that started at 730pm. The show lasted more than 1/2 an hour, I did not stay til the end because I have an early start the next day.
I hope you enjoyed this video.
On the next video I travel to Baguio City and the bus was scheduled to leave at 3am.

Ilocos Sur
Ilocos Sur (Ilocano: Abagatan nga Ilocos; Tagalog: Timog Ilokos) is a province in the Philippines located in the Ilocos Region in Luzon. Vigan City, located on the mouth of the Mestizo River is the provincial capital.
Ilocos Sur is bordered by Ilocos Norte and Abra to the north, Mountain Province to the east, La Union and Benguet to the south, and the South China Sea to the west.
History
Before the arrival of the Spaniards, the coastal plains in northwestern Luzón, stretching from Bangui (Ilocos Norte) in the north to Namacpacan (Luna, La Union) in the south, were a region called the Ylokos. This region lies in between the China Sea in the west and Northern Cordilleras on the east. The inhabitants built their villages near the small bays on coves called looc in the dialect. These coastal inhabitants were referred to as Ylocos which literally meant from the lowlands. The entire region was then called by the ancient name Samtoy from sao ditoy which in Ilocano mean our dialect. The region was later called by the Spaniards as Ylocos or Ilocos and its people Ilocanos.

At sundown I come back to #CalleCrisologo to experience how the street comes alive at night. The feel on this street at night is very European and the warm weather allows the outside dining by restaurants located on the street. I noticed that there are more foot traffic at night, lots of people taking photos, selfies. The restaurants have plenty of patrons, souvenir shops making a roaring trade selling well priced nik naks. After having a Vigan #empanada and #Longsilog (Vigan Longganisa ,Rice, Egg) for dinner i made sure i had enough time to walk to Plaza Salcedo and view the famous Dancing Fountain that started at 730pm. During our recent visit, we walk down along Calle Crisolog (Heritage Village) - a cobble-stoned stret in Vigan with Spanish-colonial fairy tale of dark wood ancestral mansions and horse drawn carriages known as kalesa. The architecture is exceptionally intact, well-preserved and is truly reflective of its roots which makes it a romantic adventure for couples visiting this prominent Ilocos tourist spot.The town itself is a wonder as it's also considered as one of the UNESCO WOrld Heritage site.
After a yester-year walk at Calle Crisologo, head down to Plaza Salcedo in the evening and watch the nightly Vigan Dancing Fountain show.
Prior to going to Vigan Heritage Village, we had the chance to visit Baluarte Zoo - private own Zoo by Chavit Singson. It's about 10 minutes away from the city and it's open everyday to the public for Free.
How to get to Vigan City from Manila
Bus - there are lots of buses coming from Manila (Partas, Victory Liner, Farinas Trans, Florida, RCJ Lines, Maria De Leon). Head to Cubao Bus Terminal or Sampaloc Manila and look for buses heading to Vigan or Laoag City.
Car - 8-10 hours drive to northern part of Philippines
Air - though Vigan has its own airport, flights from Manila to Ilocos is only through Laoag International Airport. From Laoag take the public transportation to a 2 hours bus ride to Vigan.
