About

Jason Mendelson

At work, I am a co-founder and Managing Director of Foundry Group, a Boulder based venture capital firm that invests in early-stage information technology companies. If you really want to know all the details, check out my bio here. I am also a Managing Director and General Counsel at Mobius Venture Capital. Yes, I have a second work bio and it’s here. You’ll note that I was too lazy to come up with two completely separate descriptions of myself.

Before I was a VC, I was a lawyer and I practiced at Cooley Godward Kronish LLP, which shortly after I left,
removed my bio on their website so you’ll just have to trust me. I was a startup and venture capital lawyer.

Before I was a lawyer I was a software engineer for three years at Accenture, which at the time was called Andersen Consulting and which never had a website with my bio on it.

I’m fortunate to have two degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, one in economics and another in law.

At play, I’m an active musician, home remodeler and burgeoning beer and wine aficionado. I also love to hike and try to get in one “big trip” per year. I’ve set up a separate page on my musical interests on this blog. As for home remodeling, I’m the third owner of a 1900 home and let’s just say it needs a little work.

I also am an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado Law School, founder of the Boulder Open Coffee Club, co-author of the AskTheVC blog and sit on the board of the National Venture Capital Association.
