Regional Express (also known as Rex) is an Australian airline based in Mascot, New South Wales. It operates scheduled regional services. It is Australia's largest regional airline outside the Qantas group of companies and serves New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, North Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia. Its entire fleet consists of 49 Swedish built Saab 340 turboprop aircraft seating 33, 34 or 36 passengers. Rex formerly flew some Fairchild Metro 23s.

History

The airline was established in 2002 when the Australiawide Airlines consortium (set up by former Ansett Australia employees) acquired Hazelton Airlines and Kendell Airlines, merged the two companies and started operations in August 2002 as Rex. In 2005, Australiawide Airlines was renamed Regional Express Holdings and partially floated on the Australian Securities Exchange. On 30 November 2005, Rex announced the acquisition of the Dubbo-based Air Link, another regional airline.

In October 2007, Rex expanded into Queensland when it commenced operations between Brisbane and Maryborough. This exacerbated an existing problem within the company of not having enough pilots to crew its flights (due to the expansion of larger airlines, especially Jetstar Airways and Virgin Blue), and Rex suspended operations out of Brisbane (and from Sydney to Cooma during the summer "low season" for this route to the NSW ski fields) in November 2007. To provide a medium-term solution to the pilot shortage, Rex announced that it was establishing a cadet-pilot flight-training programme. At the same time, Rex announced the impending retirement of Managing director Geoff Breust.

Rex mutation

The rex mutation is a genetic variation in mammals that results in soft curly fur. These effects are due to changes in the structure of groups of hairs and cross-section of individual hairs. The Rexed coats are unusual but occur (and have been preserved) in cats, rabbits, horses, and dogs. The mutations, infrequent and spontaneous, occur in a variety of genes and genetic regulatory structures. The diversity of genetic factors results in variable coat thickness/density and fur length.

Rex Rabbits

A great variety exists within rex rabbits. They vary from very dense and short-haired varieties (Standard Rex) to long-haired curly-haired breeds (Astrex).

The rex rabbit was introduced in 1919 by Abbe Gillet from a spontaneous mutation. The next rex rabbit was discovered in the hutches of a breeder in Lübeck, Germany in 1926. This breed was originally called Deutsch-Kurzhaar and is due to the r2 (dek) gene. In 1927, yet another short-hair rabbit was discovered in the hutches of the French breeder Madame Du Bary, a fancier of Hymalayan (ch-) rabbits. This breed was called Normannen-Kurzhaar and is due to the r3 (nok) gene.

Victorious

Victorious (stylized as VICTORiOUS) is an American sitcom created by Dan Schneider that originally aired on Nickelodeon from March 27, 2010 through February 2, 2013. The series revolves around aspiring singer Tori Vega (portrayed by Victoria Justice), a teenager who attends a performing arts high school called Hollywood Arts High School, after taking her older sister Trina's (Daniella Monet) place in a showcase while getting into screwball situations on a daily basis. On her first day at Hollywood Arts, she meets Andre Harris (Leon Thomas III), Robbie Shapiro (Matt Bennett), Rex Powers (Robbie's puppet), Jade West (Elizabeth Gillies), Cat Valentine (Ariana Grande), and Beck Oliver (Avan Jogia). The series premiered on March 27, 2010 after the 2010 Kids' Choice Awards. The first soundtrack for the series, Victorious, was released on August 2, 2011. The series won for Favorite TV Show award at the 2012 Kids' Choice Awards and 2013 Kids' Choice Awards, even beating out iCarly. Victorious has had four Emmy nominations. Its second soundtrack, Victorious 2.0, was released on June 5, 2012.

Victorious (Wolfmother song)

"Victorious" is a song by Australian hard rock band Wolfmother. Written by vocalist and guitarist Andrew Stockdale, it was produced by Brendan O'Brien and serves as the title track for the band's 2016 fourth studio album Victorious. The song was released as the first single from the album on 20 November 2015 and reached number 34 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart.

Background

The worldwide debut of "Victorious" (as well as fellow Victorious track "City Lights") came on 19 November 2015, when radio DJ Zane Lowe played both songs on Apple Music station Beats 1 as part of his "World Record" feature. The song was subsequently released as a single on music streaming service Spotify, and was also included as a free digital download with every pre-order of Victorious on iTunes.

Reception

Media response to "Victorious" was positive. Chad Childers of Loudwire dubbed "Victorious" a "full-on rocker", praising the "classic sounding riffs" as well as Andrew Stockdale's "instantly recognisable voice" and "upbeat and motivational lyrics".Digital Trends writer Chris Leo Palermino claimed that the song takes influence from bands such as AC/DC and Guns N' Roses, dubbing it "anthemic" and "hard-hitting".

Victorious (Wolfmother album)

Victorious is the upcoming fourth studio album by Australian hard rock band Wolfmother. Recorded at Henson Recording Studios with producer Brendan O'Brien, it is due to be released on 19 February 2016 by the Universal Music Group. The album was preceded by the release of the title track "Victorious" as a single, which reached number 34 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.

Recording and production

Wolfmother frontman Andrew Stockdale began working on the follow-up to 2014's New Crown in January 2015 at a studio in New South Wales, writing songs on guitar, bass and drums as he had done previously with the band's 2005 self-titled album. Speaking about the writing process, Stockdale explained that "Back in the early days, I'd play guitar, bass, and drums and then present the ideas to the band and we'd work on the arrangement together", which he claimed is "a good way to do things because it can make the style more cohesive." Two of the earliest tracks written for the album were "The Love That You Give" and "Pretty Peggy", the latter of which was completed in approximately an hour.
