The White Stripes were an American rock duo, formed in 1997 in Detroit, Michigan. The group consisted of the couple, married at the time, Jack White (songwriter, vocals, guitar, bass and keyboards) and Meg White (drums and occasional vocals). After releasing several singles and three albums within the Detroit music scene, The White Stripes rose to prominence in 2002, as part of the garage rock revival scene. Their successful and critically acclaimed albums White Blood Cells and Elephant drew attention from a large variety of media outlets in the United States and the United Kingdom, with the single "Seven Nation Army" and its now-iconic guitar line becoming a huge hit. The band recorded two more albums, Get Behind Me Satan in 2005 and Icky Thump in 2007, and dissolved in 2011 after a lengthy hiatus from performing and recording.
The White Stripes used a low-fidelity approach to writing and recording. Their music featured a melding of garage rock and blues influences and a raw simplicity of composition, arrangement, and performance. The duo was also noted for their fashion and design aesthetic which featured a simple color scheme of red, white, and black—which was used on every album and single cover the band released—as well as the band's fascination with the number three. The band's discography consists of six studio albums, one live album, two extended plays (EP), one concert film, one tour documentary, twenty-six singles, and fourteen music videos. Their last three albums each won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.

Third Man Records is pleased to share the genius surprise gift they received from their friend MICHEL GONDRY. On his own and without anyone's knowledge, the legendary filmmaker shot a video for "City Lights," which he sent them the other night. The video is Gondry's fifth visual collaboration with The White Stripes. "City Lights" was written for The White Stripes' GET BEHIND ME SATAN but then forgotten until White revisited the 2005 album for Third Man's Record Store Day 2015 vinyl reissue and finished the recording in 2016. The track is the first new, worldwide commercially released song by The White Stripes since 2008. “City Lights” by The White Stripes from the new compilation album Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016 out NOW. Leave it to Donald Trump to bring Jack and Meg White back together. The White Stripes co-founders have issued a rare joint statement in opposition of the Republican presidential nominee. Jack and Meg slammed Trump for the “illegal use” of their song “Seven Nation Army” in a campaign video. “They are disgusted by this association, and by the illegal use of their song," The White Stripes said in a statement. R.E.M., Queen, The Rolling Stones, and Adele previously rebuked Trump for using their songs at campaign events without permission. Read more info here: http://cos.lv/wv8v304Rnyy

Did the Alt-Right Troll the White Stripes Into Getting Mad at Donald Trump? Earlier today, the White Stripes—who’ve been broken up since 2011—issued a public statement on Facebook denouncing the usage of “Seven Nation Army” in a Donald Trump campaign video. The statement read: Regarding the use of “Seven Nation Army” in a Donald Trump campaign video, The White Stripes would like to unequivocally state that they have nothing whatsoever to do with this video. They are disgusted by this association, and by the illegal use of their song. The White Stripes split up owing to Meg White’s disinterest in performing. In the years since, she’s been as reclusive as Jack White has been prolific. Though the band has released archival material through White’s Third Man Records, it seems like Meg h...
The White Stripes ‘Disgusted’ by Trump Video Using ‘Seven Nation Army’ The White Stripes on Tuesday unequivocally denounced the use of their famed song “Seven Nation Army” in a pro-Donald Trump video online. In a Facebook message, the band—which broke up in 2011—wrote: “The White Stripes would like to unequivocally state that they have nothing whatsoever to do with this video. They are disgusted by this association, and by the illegal use of their song.” Band co-founder Jack White’s label Third Man Records also blasted out the message on social media. While there is no actual Trump campaign ad using the 2003 garage-rock classic, popularly used as a rallying cry at sporting events, there appear to be several YouTube videos using the song to gather support behind the real-estate mogul’s S...

[Jack & Meg:]
Rag & Bone!
Rag & Bone!
Rag & Bone!
Rag & Bone!
[Jack:]
Meg, look at this place
This place looks like a mansion!
It's like a mansion, look at all this stuff!
Look, I see something over there.
We got you here selling rag and bone
Bring out your junk and we'll give it a home
A broken trumpet or a telephone
Ah, come on, come on, come on
Come and give it to me
Yeah!
Come on, come on, come on
Come on and give it to me
Rag & Bone!
Rag & B one!
Ah, come on, come on, come on
Come on and give it to me
Oh looking pretty
Your pretty little Rags & Bones
[Jack:] Well, look at all this, you don't want it?
[Meg:] What is that?
[Jack:]
You sure you don't want it? Take it.
They're just things you don't want.
I can use 'em.
Meg can use 'em
We can do something with 'em
We'll make something out of 'em
Make some money out of 'em at least.
Hey if you ain't gonna use it, just give it to us
We'll give it a home
Well, I hope you got something shoddy for me
Everybody got a Christmas tree
I got you a pot with a toilet seat
Ah, jump up, jump up, jump up
Come on and give it to me
Rag & Bone!
We wanna get it Granny, while it's hot
You think it's trash Granny, but it's not
Oh, we'll be taking whatever you got
Ah, give up, give up, give up
Come on and give it to me
Woo!
Oh looking pretty
Your pretty little Rags & Bones
[Meg:] I saw some stuff in here, now are you gonna give it to us?
[Jack:] Ah, Meg, don't be rude
[Meg:] Why not?
[Jack:]
They might need it.
And if you don't want it, we'll take it
And if you don't wanna give it to us,
We'll keep walking by
We'll keep going we're not tired
But, got plenty of places to go
Lots of homes we ain't been to yet
The west side
The south-west side
Middle east
Rich house
Dog house
Outhouse
Old folks' house
House for unwed mothers
Halfway homes
Catacombs
Twilight Zones
Looking for techniques, turntables to gramophones
So take a last lick of your ice-cream cones
And lock up what you still wanna own
But please be kind
And don't rewind
Oh looking pretty
Your pretty little Rags & Bones
Your pretty little Rags & Bones
Ah, jump up, jump up, jump up
Come on and give it to me
Your pretty little Rags & Bones
[Jack & Meg:]
Ah, come on, come on, come on
Come on and give it to us!
[Jack:]
Yeah!
Yeah, yeah!
Oh yeah!
Yeah!
[Meg:] Yeah!
[Jack & Meg, x13:] Yeah!
