THX Ltd. is an American high-fidelity audio/visual reproduction standard for movie theaters, screening rooms, home theaters, computer speakers, gaming consoles, and car audio systems. They have certified video games as well. The current THX was created in 2002 when it spun off from Lucasfilm Ltd. THX was developed by Tomlinson Holman at George Lucas' company, Lucasfilm, in 1983 to ensure that the soundtrack for the third Star Wars film, Return of the Jedi, would be accurately reproduced in the best venues. THX was named after Holman, with the "X" standing for "crossover" as well as in homage to Lucas's first film, THX 1138. The distinctive glissando down to a rumbling low pitch used in the THX trailers, created by Holman's coworker James A. Moorer, is known as the "Deep Note".
The THX system is not a recording technology, and it does not specify a sound recording format: all sound formats, whether digital (Dolby Digital,DTS, SDDS) or analog (Dolby Stereo, Ultra Stereo), can be "shown in THX". THX is mainly a quality assurance system. THX-certified theaters provide a high-quality, predictable playback environment to ensure that any film soundtrack mixed in THX will sound as near as possible to the intentions of the mixing engineer. THX also provides certified theaters with a special crossover circuit whose use is part of the standard. Certification of an auditorium entails specific acoustic and other technical requirements; architectural requirements include a floating floor, baffled and acoustically treated walls, non-parallel walls (to reduce standing waves), a perforated screen (to allow center channel continuity), and NC30 rating for background noise ("ensures noise from air conditioning units and projection equipment does not mask the subtle effects in a movie's soundtrack.")
Actors: George Lucas (director), Walter Murch (writer), George Lucas (writer), Lalo Schifrin (composer), Francis Ford Coppola (producer), George Lucas (writer), George Lucas (writer), David Ogden Stiers (actor), Sid Haig (actor), Robert Duvall (actor), Marshall Efron (actor), Ian Wolfe (actor), Donald Pleasence (actor), George Lucas (editor), Terence McGovern (actor),
Plot: In an undefined future, a dystopian underground society is oriented to production and consumption in the malls. The population is controlled by drugs and people do not feel affection or sympathy for others. Sexual intercourse is absolutely forbidden and roommates are chosen by a computer. Faceless androids are responsible for the surveillance of the behavior of the dwellers and people pray in Unichapels for their god OMM 0910 that responds through recorded electronic messages. The worker THX 1138 handles radioactive materials in a factory and lives with his roommate LUH 3417. When she decides to stop using drugs, she becomes lucid and replaces the drugs of her partner for harmless pills. THX becomes emotional again and falls in love with LUH. He plans to escape with LUH to the superstructure, where they expect to live in freedom. But when SEN 5241 manipulates the computer to live with THX, he reports a complaint to the authorities and SEN is arrested. When THX commits a mistake in his work, the Powers That Be discover that THX and LUH are not taking drugs and having sexual intercourse and they are sentenced to be imprisoned in a weird white place. THX and SEN plan to escape with SRT and THX discover that LUH was killed by the authorities and he decides to find the way out to the surface.

This video is to check your Sourround System (YouTube only supports 2 Channel Stereo Sound - but the sound is amazing) Try also the Dolby Digital Surround Sound Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvnlpPWAcZc The copyright is by THX. If they want that I delete this video, I will do it immediately!
This is a parody of the THX logo animation that I created as part of an intro for the local ADDY awards in 2008. The awards ceremony was Pixar themed and the entire intro was a parody of the opening sequence for Toy Story 2. This is just the THX part of the intro. The audio was re-created to sound as close to the THX audio as possible.
Please don't say we're done
When I'm not finished
I could give so much more
Make you feel, like never before
Welcome, they said welcome to the floor
It's been a while
And you've found someone better
But I've been waiting too long to give this up
The more I see, I understand
But sometimes, I still need you
Sometimes, I still need you [x7]
And I was struggling to get in
Left waiting outside your door
I was sure
You'd give me more
No need to come to me
When I can make it all the way to you
You made it clear
You weren't near
Near enough for me
Heart skipped a beat
And when I caught it you were out of reach
But I'm sure, I'm sure
You've heard it before
