Rastriya Prajatantra Party

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Nepali: राष्ट्रिय प्रजातन्त्र पार्टी; translation: National Democratic Party) is a Nepalese political party. It is a centre-right, liberal conservative party, formed out of the political elite of the erstwhile Panchayat system, formed on 1990, after reestablishment of democracy in Nepal. It was formerly pro-monarchy, leaving the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal as the only major monarchist party in Nepal.

In 1997 RPP split after the faction led by pro-monarchy politician Lokendra Bahadur Chand joined a coalition government with Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist), with Chand as Prime Minister. The faction led by Surya Bahadur Thapa allied itself with Nepali Congress and toppled the UML-RPP government. Effectively RPP-Chand began to function as a separate party. In 1998 the RPP-Chand and RPP-Thapa were reunited, after both factions had fared badly in the elections that year.

In the 1999 legislative elections, the party won 10.4% of the popular vote and 11 out of 205 seats.

Kamal Thapa

Kamal Thapa (Nepali: कमल थापा; born 4 August 1955) is the current president of Nepal's only royalist party, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal. He served as a Home Minister during King Gyanendra's direct rule in 2006 until the king was forced to handover power to Girija Prasad Koirala of the Nepali Congress Party and his allies with Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) and Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist). Thapa and his party are on a signature campaign, asking for a referendum to decide the fate of monarchy, and the former minister is camping in his home constituency Hetauda as well as the Terai districts, trying to drum up support for the restoration of the crown." Mr. Thapa claims that no political parties in Nepal have the courage to safeguard Nepali nationality, claiming: "Now the onus lies only with the institution of monarchy to safeguard Nepali sovereignty and national unity." He has also challenged the government to re-investigate the royal massacre: "Those blaming former King Gyanendra Shah for the massacre are now holding power in the government. I challenge them to track down the guilty." RPP-N organised bandh (Close Down) on 22 February 2010 as part of its agitation demanding timely promulgation of constitution, end of current problems like load shedding and the current political deadlock and referendum on some key issues to be incorporated in the new constitution including constitutional monarchy, Hindu nation and federalism.

Party

A party is a gathering of people who have been invited by a host for the purposes of socializing, conversation, recreation, or as part of a festival or other commemoration of a special occasion. A party will typically feature food and beverages, and often music and dancing or other forms of entertainment. In many Western countries, parties for teens and adults are associated with drinking alcohol such as beer, wine or distilled spirits.

Description

Some parties are held in honor of a specific person, day, or event, such as a birthday party, a Super Bowl party, or a St. Patrick’s Day party. Parties of this kind are often called celebrations. A party is not necessarily a private occasion. Public parties are sometimes held in restaurants, pubs, beer gardens, nightclubs or bars, and people attending such parties may be charged an admission fee by the host. Large parties in public streets may celebrate events such as Mardi Gras or the signing of a peace treaty ending a long war.

Rekha Thapa

Rekha Thapa is a Nepali actress, model and film maker. She was a top ten finalist for Miss Nepal in 1999. Two years later she made her movie debut in Chhabiraj Ojha's Hero. She has worked in around 200 Nepali movies and has gained popularity in the Nepali cine world because of her glamorous role. She owns the movie production house Rekha Entertainment. In 2010 and 2011 she won the CG Digital Film Awards for Best Actress, and in 2011 she also won the NEFTA Film Awards for Best Actress.

Biography

Rekha Thapa was born in Salakpur in Morang district of Eastern Nepal. After graduating from school, she moved to Kathmandu for her higher studies. As she had strong desire to be an actress, she continued to participate in various modelling glances & glamorous programs. Later she took part in the Miss Nepal Pageant in 1999, and ended up in second place.

Thapa worked as a model, and was subsequently approached by the producer Chhabiraj Ojha with a proposal to work in the movie "Hero" with Rajesh Hamal. During the shooting of Hero, Chhabiraj Ojha proposed to her, and the two were married in traditional style. After ten years, the couple separated.
