Duke of Edinburgh
Duke of Edinburgh, named after the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, is a title that has been created four times for members of the British royal family since 1726. The current holder is the Prince Philip, consort to Queen Elizabeth II.
1726 creation
The title was first created in the Peerage of Great Britain on 26 July 1726 by George I, who bestowed it on his grandson Prince Frederick, who also became Prince of Wales the following year. The subsidiary titles of the dukedom were Baron of Snowdon, in the County of Caernarvon, Viscount of Launceston, in the County of Cornwall, Earl of Eltham, in the County of Kent, and Marquess of the Isle of Ely. These titles were also in the Peerage of Great Britain. The marquessate was apparently erroneously gazetted as Marquess of the Isle of Wight although Marquess of the Isle of Ely was the intended title. In later editions of the London Gazette the Duke is referred to as the Marquess of the Isle of Ely. Upon Frederick's death, the titles were inherited by his son Prince George. When Prince George became King George III in 1760, the titles "merged into the Crown", and ceased to exist.

Edinburgh (
i/ˈɛdɪnbərə/;Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Èideann [ˈt̪uːn ˈɛːtʲɛn̪ˠ]) is the capital city of Scotland, located in Lothian on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth. It is the second most populous city in Scotland and the seventh most populous in the United Kingdom. The most recent official population estimates are 464,990 for the city of Edinburgh itself and 492,680 for the local authority area. Edinburgh lies at the heart of the Edinburgh & South East Scotland City region with a population in 2014 of 1,339,380. Recognised as the capital of Scotland since at least the 15th century, Edinburgh is home to the Scottish Parliament and the seat of the monarchy in Scotland. Long reviled as four hundred years of unrelieved slavery and barbarity under 'the Turkish yoke', a new generation of scholars, based mainly but not exclusively in Greece, is rejecting this monochromatic view in favour of a more nuanced picture of the Greek experience in the Ottoman Empire.this volume considers this new scholarship, most of it in Greek, and makes it accessible for the first time to a wider audience. My D of E weekend was one of the best/worst weekends of my life. I hope my group enjoy this video and don't mind being featured, Sarah you had many beautiful shots in this video and Lucy im sure everyone really appreciated your beautiful singing. My D of E weekend was one of the best/worst weekends of my life.
I hope my group enjoy this video and don't mind being featured, Sarah you had many beautiful shots in this video and Lucy im sure everyone really appreciated your beautiful singing.
If you haven't a clue what the Duke of Edinburgh program is its basically young people going on 2 8 mile walks (16 in total), holding very heavy bags, we stay overnight in a campsite and cook our own food, i would defo suggest doing it, even though there is a lot of moaning in this video we defo all enjoyed it and had a lot of banter, if you want to learn more or participate go to http://www.dofe.org
Yes that is stitches you see on my face, i didn't really explain in the video but basically after 30 seconds of starting a fell because my laces caught together and lets just say it was a big, bloody mess, but its all good now the teachers took me to A&E; and i got 3 stitches after an hour and met the group at the first checkpoint so i didn't miss out much, the stitches didn't hurt badly because they put a local anesthetic in which hurts A LOT but it makes the whole area numb so yeah, right now im using a lot of vitamin E oil and it is slowly healing, so anyone going on d of e, BE CAREFUL! lol I am so clumsy.
