Taki (card game)

Taki (טאקי) is a commercial card game developed by Israeli game inventor Haim Shafir. The game is an advanced variant of the Crazy Eights that is played with regular deck of playing cards. It was published in 1983 by the Shafir Games. The game uses a specially printed deck designed by artist Ari Ron.

Game overview

Each player follows the preceding card, laid on the table, with a card of the same color or figure. Special cards may change the direction of play, skip a player's turn, make other players draw cards, change the color and allow a player to discard more than one card. The game includes 112 cards (2 identical sets of 56). The object of the game is to discard all the cards in your hand.

Rules

The cards are shuffled and each player receives eight. The rest of the deck becomes the draw pile. The top card in the draw pile is turned over and placed face up next to the draw pile to form a discard pile. The upper card of the discard pile is called the Leading Card. The youngest player goes first. Starting clockwise, each player discards a card (or cards) onto the leading card, by (a) matching its color; or (b) matching its number or figure; or (c) using a SuperTaki, Switch Color, or King card. A player who cannot play draws one card from the draw pile. It may be used only in the next round. A player who is left with one card in his hand must announce "Last card!" If he fails to do this before the next player made his move, he draws 4 cards from the draw pile. The game ends when the first player has discarded his last card.

Taki (India)

Taki is a town and a municipality under Hasnabad police station of Basirhat subdivision in North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Geography

Taki is located at 22°35′N 88°55′E / 22.59°N 88.92°E / 22.59; 88.92. It has an average elevation of 5 metres (16 feet) at the bank of Ichamati River.

Culture

Taki has a good District Library and a College. Taki Government College is a prominent feature of Taki. Taki Government High School, Taki S. L. Girls High School and Taki Bhabanath High School are among the oldest and renowned schools of this town. Taki also has a branch of Ram Krishna Mission School with Hostel facilities.

Taki is known for its sweets called "Chhanar Malpoa".

Taki also is a prominent place for Kali Puja or Diwali festival. Taki is famous for Durga Puja. Bijaya Dashami at the Ichamati river in the international border between India and Bangladesh is specially renowned.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Taki had a population of 37,302. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Taki has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 73%, and female literacy is 61%. In Taki, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.

TAKI 183

TAKI 183 was one of the most influential graffiti writers in its history. His "tag" was short for Demetaki, a Greek alternative for his birth-name Demetrius, and the number 183 came from his address on 183rd Street in Washington Heights. He worked as a foot messenger in New York City and would write his nickname around the streets of New York City that he frequented during the late 1960s and early 1970s.

On July 21, 1971, The New York Times ran an article about him on the front page of its inside section, titled "Taki 183" Spawns Pen Pals. TAKI 183 spurred competitive tagging in NYC as his tag was mimicked by hundreds of youth across the five boroughs. The kids who got their names up the most and who developed signature tags became known in their communities. Graffiti became a way for many young kids to try to get attention and the attention TAKI 183 received spurred this on.

Although TAKI 183 was the first to be showcased in a publication it is said that Julio 204 began writing his tag in NYC first. However Julio did not write outside his own neighborhood of Inwood in Manhattan, and this is arguably the reason why he never received the media-attention TAKI did.

Žabeň

Žabeň is a village in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has around 600 inhabitants. The name of the village is derived from the Czech word žába, which means frog.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is a platform video game developed by Oddworld Inhabitants and published by GT Interactive. It was released in 1997 for the PlayStation video game console, DOS and Microsoft Windows in North America, Australia and Europe. The game was released under the title Abe a GoGo (エイブ・ア・ゴーゴー, Eibu A Gōgō) in Japan for the PlayStation by publisher SoftBank, with a PC version following in 2001. The Game Boy version of Abe's Oddysee, retitled as Oddworld Adventures, was developed by Saffire Corporation and published by GT Interactive in 1998.

The game centers on the titular Abe, a Mudokon slave at the 'RuptureFarms' meat processing factory. When he discovers that he and his fellow Mudokons are to be slaughtered, he decides to escape and liberate as many enslaved Mudokons as he can. The player assumes the role of Abe as he attempts a perilous quest to emancipate his downtrodden people.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee was widely acclaimed for having innovative gameplay, good graphics, and engaging cut-scenes; however, its steep learning curve and system of saving only at checkpoints, received criticism. It was the first game in the planned five-part Oddworld series, which also includes its direct sequels, Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. A remake titled Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! was developed by Just Add Water and released through digital distribution in 2014.
