Around 100 far-right protesters rallied in Dortmund's Dorstfeld neighbourhood on Friday, to denounce the government's refugee policy and perceived instances of police brutality. Protesters reportedly let off fireworks as they marched. The demonstration was shadowed by scores of counter protesters, who held a banner reading "National free zone Dortmund - Dorstfeld," in reference to the perception that Dorstfeld area is dominated by those with far-right sentiments. The notion comes from the reported presence of the far-right network National Resistance in the area.

Chinese president Xi Jinping arrived at the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima on Friday, for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Summit. Earlier on Friday, Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski formally opened APEC Summit. Outgoing US President Barack Obama as well as Russian President Vladimir Putin are scheduled to hold keynote speeches at the summit on Saturday. Others involved include IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde, entrepreneurs, investors and world-known business people such as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Founded in November of 1989, APEC is a forum of 21 economies in the Asia-Pacific region. Together they seek to promote the liberalisation of trade and investment and foster business and economic cooperation.
