When I open the app via notification, the latest message is not displayed. The send button is often disabled without any reason specified. The only thing that helps in these cases is killing it and reopening. Read message statuses are not synchronized with Linux version.

Why after application update I should enter server name, login and password each time?

Very bad I run several messaging apps. They all work fine except hipchat. Constantly failing to alert, losing messages or very slow delivery for those msgs that do alert, failure to reconnect after network transitions. This app is a mess.

Can't send or receive messages I liked the look of this app but after sending a few messages I can no longer send any, all the messages show an exclamation mark. Also when I receive a message a notification is shown but after clicking on the notification hipchat opens but the received message is not there. What good is a chat client if you can't trust it to deliver messages?

Needs better behavior on notifications My company extensively uses Hipchat and overall I'm satisfied with the service - but the Android client has a severe weakness. When I get an alert from being called out in a multi user room or reached out to 1-1 - tapping the alert opens the app but does not go to the room or chat associated with the alert. But, responding to the alert clears the notification from both the mobile and web client so now I have to search to find what the alerting message/room was - an annoying waste of time.
Loses messages Many if not the majority of the messages that I receive through this app will create a notification but then not appear in the chat. This is especially strange for a service that stores its messages server-side and does not have this issue with the desktop client. It's as though the mobile client is going out of its way to delete messages. This bug has caused serious professional problems for me and makes hip chat a worse choice than no chat solution at all. It also drains battery like crazy.
Worst messaging app ever Be prepared to not being notified and missing messages most of the time, specifically on mobile! Terrible app.
Massive battery hog If you keep the app in always on mode so it doesn't sign off when you're idle, it massively drains the battery. Not sure why when pretty much all other messaging apps have no impact
Very buggy Looses rooms history, e.g. just shows the latest message but the history is just blank. Doesn't show number of unread messages in rooms after being offline. Switching networks causes random problems with reconnect and history.
Massive battery drain if you want to be aerted of messages - it's an option with a warning in Settings! Nor can you rely on the app to receive all messages. Needs to be rewritten.
used up my mobile data instantly I was using hipchat fine but then today it used up 1GB of my mobile data when I put it in split screen mode :(
No notifications when tagged There have been numerous times where someone has tagged me in a conversation or started a one to one conversations and I have not been notified. All notification settings are correct please fix ASAP as my team relies on hipchat for communication
Slow and not responsive at all I have no choice but to use this app. I wish it could open faster at least.
Terrible app You see a message in notification but when you click and open chat window, it does not show message.
Message don't show up I get a push, when I open the app the message doesn't appear. When I close and open the app the message is there. Previous versions didn't have this issue.
At 71 meg for a basic messaging app it's on the big side and the room notifications are anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour after the @ mention in rooms. This is used for my work if I did not have to use it I would not.
Abandoned by developer? Seems like a long running bug where you have to sign out and back in to see new messages. Developer may have abandoned the app.
Need improvement Has lots of bug. Send button disables often. Msg doesnt appear in chat even after receiving notification.
notification bar status option that the app is running in the background would be nice. I can't tell if the app is running sometimes.
Needs more options No on off button for sound and vibration on notification settings.
Out of date conversations When I tap a notification, app does not show the message in notification.
This app does not improvement. I constantly have to sign in my account (even though It is set to remember and has my information filled out) which causes me to miss messages send from my team. In addition, i did also just find that I am unable to set the notification sound when receiving messages. The option is there, but nothing happen when tapping on it.
Way too buggy! New problem: it asks me my account info ever time I start it, meaning it stops receiving msgs in the background! Crazy! Still playing catch-up to the competition. Feature improvement suggestions follows: For those of us with AMOLED screens, and who care about our eyesight, we need a dark theme, please. Would also like to see configurable font sizes. Thanks!
One of the more recent patches seems to have broken the functionality to change the notification sound - I've had to work around that now, but as I use it to communicate with my fellow coworkers it's been a huge thorn in my side. I hope this gets fixed quickly.
Got potential but... Got potential but for larger teams there is just too much noise. I hate to say it but have a play with Slack (and copy their goods!)
Lovely chat client I post links. Talk smack. Back track. Don Henley lyrics. Its unreal!
Mehhh No status change. Lacking features that Aol IM had 10 years ago
Productivity!!! Great tool for work. Boosted the productivity of my employees a lot. Less time wasted walking back and forth to speak with co-workers. Tons of features, great add ons, good integration and spectacular control over permissions/security. I'd recommend this app to anyone!
Extremely useful add... when it works right The app is extremely helpful. The desktop and web versions are superb. However, the mobile app could use some improvements. Sometimes I don't receive notifications and when I do get them, when I open it the message isn't there. I'm forced to force-exit the app and reopen it in order to view the messages.
8/10 I like it but it runs rather slow, just like the site, I found the process of getting started very annoying. It works pretty well so far though and has many "integrations" that help our team.
Works ok Seems to work fine for now. Haven't experienced the notification problems described by other reviewers. Time will tell. Mobile version needs dark theme, and integrations sidebar is not available as in desktop version. Also no ability to edit sent messages. UPDATE: I've now experienced random logouts, and notifications about new messages sometimes go missing. Reducing rating to 2 stars.
Doesn't reconnect on network change Whenever I change networks or switch between wifi and cell, the app stops updating and I can no longer send or receive messages without forcing the app to stop and restart.
Very slow in connecting to the network When the app is opened after a notification, it takes forever to connect. Even on a high speed Wi-Fi.
