Victoria, British Columbia
Victoria /vɪkˈtɔːriə/ is the capital city of British Columbia, Canada, and is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island off Canada's Pacific coast. The city has a population of about 80,017, while the metropolitan area of Greater Victoria, has a population of 344,615, making it the 15th most populous Canadian urban region.
Victoria is about 100 kilometres (60 miles) from BC's largest city of Vancouver on the mainland. The city is about 100 kilometres (62 miles) from Seattle by airplane, ferry, or the Victoria Clipper passenger-only ferry which operates daily, year round between Seattle and Victoria and 40 kilometres (25 miles) from Port Angeles, Washington, by ferry Coho across the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Named after Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and, at the time, British North America, Victoria is one of the oldest cities in the Pacific Northwest, with British settlement beginning in 1843. The city has retained a large number of its historic buildings, in particular its two most famous landmarks, Legislative buildings (finished in 1897 and home of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia) and the Empress hotel (opened in 1908). The city's Chinatown is the second oldest in North America after San Francisco's. The region's Coast Salish First Nations peoples established communities in the area long before non-native settlement, possibly several thousand years earlier, which had large populations at the time of European exploration. Victoria, like many Vancouver Island communities, continues to have a sizeable First Nations presence, composed of peoples from all over Vancouver Island and beyond.

British Columbia
British Columbia, also commonly referred to by its initials BC, is a province located on the west coast of Canada. British Columbia is also a component of the Pacific Northwest and the Cascadia bioregion, along with the US states of Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Alaska The province's name was chosen in 1858 by members of the Hudson's Bay Company. In 1871, it became the sixth province of Canada. Its Latin motto is Splendor sine occasu ("Splendour without Diminishment").
The capital of British Columbia is Victoria, the fifteenth-largest metropolitan region in Canada, named for the Queen who created the Colony of British Columbia. The largest city is Vancouver, the third-largest metropolitan area in Canada, the largest in Western Canada, and the second-largest in the Pacific Northwest. In October 2013, British Columbia had an estimated population of 4,606,371 (about 2.5 million of whom were in Greater Vancouver). The province is currently governed by the BC Liberal Party, led by Premier Christy Clark, who became leader as a result of a leadership convention vote on February 26, 2011, and who led her party to an election victory on May 14, 2013.

My first video, a compilation of footage from my trip to Victoria, BC at the beginning of summer break, 2015 before I leave on exchange to Sweden. I went whale watching twice with Prince of Whales (located in Victoria's Downtown Harbour) and saw killer whales/orca whales both trips (as well as other wildlife like seals and sea lions), went out on my grandparents boat from Royal Victoria Yacht Club, drove up past Duncan to the Cowichan Valley to visit my great aunt, and had a great time exploring my favourite city in the world.

(The same but different) There's a lot you can do and see in one day because everything is very central, but not congested in the way Vancouver is. We tour around the British Columbia Parliament Buildings, then head off to the oldest Chinatown in Canada (5 minutes away) followed by doubling back, past the Parliament Buildings and along Belleville ST to the Fisherman's Wharf. My first video, a compilation of footage from my trip to Victoria, BC at the beginning of summer break, 2015 before I leave on exchange to Sweden.
I went whale watching twice with Prince of Whales (located in Victoria's Downtown Harbour) and saw killer whales/orca whales both trips (as well as other wildlife like seals and sea lions), went out on my grandparents boat from Royal Victoria Yacht Club, drove up past Duncan to the Cowichan Valley to visit my great aunt, and had a great time exploring my favourite city in the world.

Travel to Victoria British Columbia and it's like you left the province and are in a different country. (The same but different)
There's a lot you can do and see in one day because everything is very central, but not congested in the way Vancouver is.
We tour around the British Columbia Parliament Buildings, then head off to the oldest Chinatown in Canada (5 minutes away) followed by doubling back, past the Parliament Buildings and along Belleville ST to the Fisherman's Wharf.

04. Miniature World
Miniature-themed dioramas and displays representing historical times and fictional worlds. Over 85 exciting miniature dioramas and displays. One of the most popular tourist attractions in downtown.
05. Beacon Hill Park
A 75 ha (200 acre) park located along the shore of Juan de Fuca Strait. Contains a number of amenities including woodland and shoreline trails, two playgrounds, a waterpark, playing fields, a petting zoo, tennis courts, many ponds, and landscaped gardens.
06. Victoria Bug Zoo
A two-room minizoo that is located in downtown. Exhibits about 50 species of insects, arachnids, and Myriapoda. Currently the largest tropical insect collection in North America. Visitors can hold and handle different varieties of species like tarantulas, cockroaches, scorpions, walking sticks, millipedes, and praying mantis. Has Canada's largest ant farm that contains leaf-cutter ants.
07. Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site
The first lighthouse on the west coast of Canada. Was built in 1860 to guide vessels through the entrance of Esquimalt harbour. It was named after HMS Fisgard, a British Navy ship that spent time in the Pacific. Designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1958. Also a Classified Federal Heritage Building.
08. British Columbia Aviation Museum
The Museum consists of a display area spread over two hangars, a classroom, a restoration workshop and a gift shop. Displays include historical civilian and military artefacts including uniforms, medals and models. Located in Sidney, British Columbia, Canada. It is on the grounds of the Victoria International Airport.
09. Thunderbird Park
A park in Victoria next to the Royal British Columbia Museum. Home to many totem poles (mostly Gitxsan, Haida, and Kwakwaka'wakw) and other First Nation monuments. Totem poles were first erected on the site in 1940 as part of a conservation effort to preserve some of the region's rapidly deteriorating Aboriginal art.
10. Christ Church Cathedral
The cathedral church of the Diocese of British Columbia of the Anglican Church of Canada.
