London i/ˈlʌndən/ is the capital and most populous city of England and the United Kingdom. Standing on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia. It was founded by the Romans, who named it Londinium. London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its 1.12-square-mile (2.9 km2) medieval boundaries and in 2011 had a resident population of 7,375, making it the smallest city in England. Since at least the 19th century, the term London has also referred to the metropolis developed around this core. The bulk of this conurbation forms Greater London, a region of England governed by the Mayor of London and the London Assembly. The conurbation also covers two English counties: the small district of the City of London and the county of Greater London. The latter constitutes the vast majority of London, though historically it was split between Middlesex (a now abolished county), Essex, Surrey, Kent and Hertfordshire.
David Vaughan Icke (/aɪk/, born 29 April 1952) is an English writer, public speaker and former professional footballer and sports broadcaster. He promotes conspiracy theories about global politics and has written extensively about them.
Icke was a BBC television sports presenter and spokesman for the Green Party, when in 1990 a psychic told him that he was a healer who had been placed on Earth for a purpose, and that the spirit world was going to pass messages to him. In March 1991 he held a press conference to announce that he was a "Son of the Godhead" – a phrase he said later the media had misunderstood. He said that a subsequent appearance on BBC's Wogan changed his life, turning him from a respected household name into a public laughing stock.
He nevertheless continued to develop his ideas, and in four books published over seven years—The Robots' Rebellion (1994), And the Truth Shall Set You Free (1995), The Biggest Secret (1999), and Children of the Matrix (2001)—he set out a worldview that combined New-Age spiritualism with a denunciation of totalitarian trends in the modern world. At the heart of his theories lies the idea that a secret group of reptilian humanoids called the Babylonian Brotherhood (including George W. Bush, Queen Elizabeth II, Kris Kristofferson and Boxcar Willie) controls humanity, and that many prominent figures are reptilian. He further proposes that the Moon is an artificial construct—"probably a hollowed-out planetoid"—from which the reptilians broadcast an "artificial sense of self and the world" that humans mistakenly perceive as reality.

When a charismatic former alcoholic named Shaft had his life changed by Burning Man, he realized that he actually identifies as a unicorn. No longer able to face the monotony of work and life in the real world, he decided to form a polyamorous and hedonistic movement with other like-minded unicorns. Donning glittery horns and galloping through London's streets, Shaft's unicorns set about trying to create a free-love utopia. But as the unicorn revolution begins to clash with the realities of life and love, some of the "glampede" became disillusioned, and Shaft's reasons for starting this whole thing came into question. Is this the hedonistic, free love revolution we were promised in the 60s? Or is it as fake as the unicorn horns they wear, a desperate and clever ploy by Shaft to escape h...

A recreation of the Great Fire of London will set the Thames ablaze on 4th September in a spectacular culmination of a series of events to commemorate 350 years since the blaze that ripped through the City of London, destroying homes, businesses and iconic structures such as St Pauls. The installation, London 1666, is part of London’s Burning, a festival of arts and ideas produced by Artichoke. LONDON 1666 will see an extraordinary 120 metre long sculpture of Restoration London floated on the River Thames and set alight in a dramatic retelling of the story of the Great Fire. The vast representation of the 17th century London skyline has been designed by American artist David Best, working in collaboration with Artichoke, the creative events company that have previously staged large-scale ...
Listen to the full audiobook, or read it's ebook version: http://easyget.us/mabk/30/en/B01C36D62W/book Provides an innovative approach to articulate what 'underground' meant to the Victorians. The construction of London's underground sewers, underground railway and suburban cemeteries created seismic shifts in the geography and the psychological apprehension of the city. Yet, why are there so few literary and aesthetic interventions in Victorian representations of subterranean spaces? What is London's answer to the Parisian sewers of Victor Hugo or the unflinching realism of Émile Zola's underworld? Where is the great English underground novel? This study explores this elision not as an absence of imaginative output, but as a presence and plenitude of anxiety and fears that haunt the pages...

My name is Rick London. I began writing concepts for comics as a student in Dallas in 1974. I also drew rough drafts but was not very good at the illustrative part, though I seemed to excel in the creation, development and writing side (of cartooning). In 1985, while living and working in Washington, D.C., some friends took me to a Gary Larson Far Side exhibit. Though I’d followed the cartoon in the paper for years, I was hooked by the large hanging posterboards. I remembered my shoebox of comic ideas and found them. In 1997, while back in my hometown caring for a sick relative, I found myself out of a job. I moved into an abandoned tin shed with electricity and a phone, bought a banged up used IBM clone 286 and I was off to work using AOL as my conduit to the world. I launched Londons Tim...

The City of London is one of the oldest parts of the capitol, as it is located where London was first founded almost 2000 years ago. The City of London roughly constitutes the same area that was mostly unaltered until the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in the 18th Century. Known as the "Square Mile", the City nowadays is roughly bounded by the River Thames to the south, Chancery Lane to the west, Charterhouse Street to the north, and the Tower of London to the east. Although the old City's gates are long gone, you can still see their location in the street names. Join us on this video tour as we explore the Tower of London, Leadenhall Market, the City's financial district, St. Paul's Cathedral and more! The Tower of London To the east of the City you'll find the Tower of London b...

Watch amazing cooking skills and street food around the world, street food is ready-to-eat food or drink sold in a street or other public place, such as a market or fair, by a hawker or vendor, often from a portable food booth, food cart, or food truck. While some street foods are regional, many are not, having spread beyond their region of origin. Most street foods are also classed as both finger food and fast food, and are cheaper on average than restaurant meals.

This Sunday, three sets of BR debutants — Nu Guinea, Khruangbin and Donna Leake — step to the fore in London. Berlin-via-Naples duo, Nu Guinea, create sounds that pair humid, sultry deep house and tropical-infused electronics. Their self-titled debut EP was released in October 2014 on the Italian label Early Sounds Recordings to great reviews. But it's their recent concept album based around the distinctive Afrobeat rhythms of legendary drummer Tony Allen that get most necks turning. We're also super excited to invite Khruangbin to our screens. A real BR favourite for the last year, the Texas/London-based trio have continually pointed towards the explosion of funk music that came out of Thailand in the 60s and 70s as a major source of inspiration. Not just content with facing backwar...
