Ex-commission home in Yarrabin St, Brunswick West sold for $810,000 at auction
THE children of a deceased vendor who transformed a former commission home in Brunswick West into an elegant, Scandinavian abode watched as it sold under the hammer for $810,000.
The price for the three-bedroom, former commission property, at 10 Yarrabin St, “took us all by surprise”, according to Brad Teal Brunswick’s Jayden Manno.
“All owner interest was in the price range (of $650,000-$700,000). but then it just took off at auction — it had all our heads spinning,” Mr Manno said.
“There were three or four bidders, and it was pretty fast paced.”
Mr Manno said a young couple with a baby on the way snapped up the “one-owner, forever” home.
He noted the buyers were a good example of the growing gentrification of the area.
“This pocket between Pascoe Vale Rd and the freeway is now up- and-coming,” he said.
“Folks have been here for between 70 and two years, but a lot (of the newcomers) are families.”
The CoreLogic price median for Brunswick West homes is now $900,000, a growth of 11.1 per cent in the year to June.
In this period, 116 homes also sold.
