A Super Compilation of all the musical themes and motifs written by Michael Giacchino in association with the characters of Sayid, Shannon and Boone from the television series - LOST. All variations appear on the television soundtracks under the following track titles:- Tracks used - Dysfunctional Setup, Shannon's Funeral, Booneral, The Gathering, A New Trade, Nadia on Your Life, Dharma Disaster, Sayid After Dentist, Lie Thou There, Trouble Is My First Name, Lost Away - Or Is It? Our story began way back in Season 1. Sayid Jarrah, an Iraqi soldier and torturer, was searching desperately for his lost love, Nadia. Accompanying this emotional quest, Giacchino introduced his character's main leitmotif. Upon crashing onto the island, he still sought to find her but as all hope of rescue began to diminish and as he began to realise just how much he was pushing those around him away from him by being so transfixed on this one woman, he decided to start afresh while he still could. Equally, troubled by their pasts were Shannon Rutherford and Boone Carlyle. As we began to see just how much Boone was attatched to Shannon, Giacchino introduced her primary theme which was most significantly heard when he eventually chose to 'let go' of her and move on. Tragically, Boone's early death soon followed, yet with this emerged their second theme, a theme which underlined a huge change in Shannon's character and forced her to confront her past once more. It was here that Sayid and Sayid alone stepped in to help her, out of his desire to prove to himself that he was capable of good and that he could start over. As both began to realise just how much they needed one another to break free of their pasts and move on, Giacchino introduced their beautiful love theme - a theme which underlined their ultimate redemption. After her sudden death in Season 2, however, Sayid's journey continued to descend down a darker path and his main theme began to reflect that, particularly following his return to civilisation where, upon marrying his lost love, she was murdered and used as a bargaining chip so that he may be recruited into killing men working for Widmore's organisation. While he may have loved Nadia more deeply than Shannon, the extent to which he went for her produced an extremely dark undertone to both the music and his story. This was furthered once more as he was mysteriously resurrected at the temple and claimed to be 'infected' with a darkness. In fact, Giacchino introduced an entirely new theme for this dark transition in his character. Despite this, the nobility and love for his friends shown when he sacrificed himself aboard the submarine proved to triumph over his capability to kill and show that, deep down, he was a good man. Like most characters, death did not prove to let him finally move on. Before he could do so, he had to come to the realisation that Nadia would have been better off had she not been with him; in order for him to move on peacefully he had to let go of her and all the horrible acts which had been associated with her during his life but more importantly, he had to remember Shannon - the one whom, despite her many flaws like Sayid, needed him to ultimately move on and let go. While it may have been incredibly brief and intense, their love and time together highlighted Sayid at the peak of his redemption arc. In conjunction with their reunion in the flash-sideways, Giacchino let rip on their original love theme in the most beautiful way to fully realise the grand culmination of their journeys.
