I was raised a practicing Muslim and remained one for almost half my life. I attended madrassas, that is, Islamic schools, and memorized large parts of the Qur'an. As a child, I lived in Mecca for a time and frequently visited the Grand Mosque. As a teenager, I sympathized with the Muslim Brotherhood.
At 22 while my family was living in Kenya, my father arranged my marriage to a member of our family clan, a man that I had never met. I ran away, made my way to Holland, studied there and eventually was elected a member of the Dutch parliament. Now I live in the United States.
In short, I have seen Islam from the inside and the outside.
I believe that a reform of Islam is necessary and possible. And only Muslims can make that reform a reality. But we in the West cannot remain on the sidelines as though the outcome of this struggle has nothing to do with us. If the jihadists win and the hope for a reformed Islam dies, the rest of the world will pay a terrible price. The terror attacks in New York, London, Madrid, Paris and many other places are only a preview for what is to come.
For this reason, I believe that it’s foolish to insist, as Western leaders habitually do, that the violent acts committed in the name of Islam can somehow be divorced from the religion itself. For more than a decade, my message has been simple: Islam is not a religion of peace.
When I assert this, I do not mean that Islamic belief makes all Muslims violent. This is manifestly not the case: There are many millions of peaceful Muslims in the world. What I do say is that the call to violence and the justification for it are explicitly stated in the sacred texts of Islam. Moreover, this theologically sanctioned violence is there to be activated by any number of offenses, including but not limited to adultery, blasphemy, homosexuality and apostasy--that is to leave Islam.
Those who tolerate this intolerance do so at their peril.
As someone who has known what it is to live without freedom, I watch in amazement as those who call themselves liberals and progressives--people who claim to believe so fervently in individual liberty and minority rights--make common cause with the forces in the world that manifestly pose the greatest threats to that very freedom and those very minorities.
In 2014 I was invited to accept an honorary degree from Brandeis University for the work I have done on behalf of women's rights in the Muslim world. That invitation was withdrawn after professors and students protested my criticism of Islam. My subsequent "disinvitation," as it came to be called, was no favor to Muslims--just the opposite. By labeling critical examination of Islam as inherently "racist," we make the chances of reformation far less likely. There are no limits on criticism of Christianity at American universities or anywhere else, for that matter; why should there be of Islam?
Instead of contorting Western intellectual traditions so as not to offend our Muslim fellow citizens, we need to defend both those traditions and the Muslim dissidents who take great risks to promote them. We should support these brave men and women in every way possible.
Imagine a platform for Muslim dissidents that communicated their message through YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. These are the Muslims we should be supporting - for our sake as much for the sake of Islam.

Front Pembela Islam (FPI), Front Umat Islam (FUI) dan Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) akan menggelar aksi demonstrasi besar-besaran pada Jumat (14/10). Aksi massa yang diklaim akan diikuti ratusan ribu orang ini dipusatkan di Masjid Istiqlal Jakarta dan dilakukan sehabis sholat Jumatan.
Massa FPI se-Indonesia akan berkumpul di Masjid Istiqlal mulai pukul 10.00 WIB. Pada kotbah sholat Jumatan tersebut tokoh-tokoh Islam dijadwalkan akan berkotbah dan membakar semangat jihad untuk membela Islam serta menekan pihak kepolisian untuk memproses Gubernur DKI Jakarta Basuki Thajaja Purnama atau Ahok. MUI memutuskan Ahok telah melakukan penistaan terhadap Islam dan Al Quran.
Rencana aksi besar-besaran umat Islam ini diputuskan dalam pertemuan Gerakan Masyarakat Jakarta (GMJ), yang dihadiri para ulama, habaib, dan pimpinan Ormas-Ormas Islam. Aksi akan dimulai di Masjid Istiqlal dan dilanjutkan long march ke Kantor Bareskrim Mabes Polri, Balaikota Jakarta (Kantor Ahok), dan DPRD Jakarta.
FPI mengklaim peserta aksi tidak hanya umat Islam dari Jakarta, tapi juga akan dihadiri perwakilan umat Islam se-Indonesia yang siap melakukan jihad melawan musuh-musuh Islam. Ahok ditetapkan sebagai musuh Islam urutan pertama. Ahok sebagai orang Kafir tidak boleh jadi Gubernur DKI Jakarta.
Koordinator aksi dari Forum Umat Islam (FUI) Habib Ali Alatas mendesak polisi menangkap Ahok karena telah menista Islam dan Al Quran. “Umat Islam bersatu padu untuk meminta polisi segera menyelesaikan kasus pidana yang menjerat Ahok yang merupakan musuh Islam,” kata Habib Ali seperti dikutip dari Harian Terbit, Kamis (13/10).
FPI Jabodetabek akan mendapat tambahan kekuatan dari FPI se-Indonesia diantaranya 30.000 Laskar FPI Aceh yang sudah terlatih melakukan jihad. “Selama ini para laskar FPI Aceh belum pernah menggunakan keahlian yang telah mereka miliki karena musuh Islam belum nyata. Sekarang musuh telah nyata dan perlu diperangi untuk menghilangkan fitnah terhadap Islam yang dilontarkan Ahok, Gubernur DKI. Kami siapkan laskar berangkat ke Jakarta. Kami siapkan para syuhada yang siap mati syahid,” kata Ketua FPI Aceh Muslim At Thahiry kepada wartawan minggu lalu.
Sedangkan dari Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), Angkatan Muda (AM) Forum Ukhuwwah Islamiyyah (FUI) Yogyakarta siap memberangkatkan ribuan mujahid untuk mengepung Kantor Balai Kota DKI Jakarta. “Kepada umat Islam, Ahok dengan berbagai pernyataan sudah berulang kali melukai umat Islam dan atas pelecehannya terhadap surat Al Maidah ayat 51. Umat Islam tidak bisa tinggal diam,” kata Amir AM FUI Yogyakarta, Ustadz Umar Said.
Sementara itu pihak aparat keamanan juga telah memberikan peringatan pada Gereja Katedral Jakarta yang letaknya berseberangan jalan dengan Masjid Istiqlal untuk mengantisipasi aksi anarkis dan ancaman pengrusakan yang akan dilakukan oleh ormas-ormasi Islam seperti FPI, FUI dan ormas-ormas radikal lainnya.
Maka untuk itu perlu ada kewaspadaan :
1. Jika tidak sangat penting dan mendesak, mohon para Pastor/Ibu/Bapak/Saudara/i untuk sementara tidak mengunjungi Gereja Katedral dan Kantor Keuskupan Agung Jakarta (KAJ) serta tidak menuju tempat lain di kawasan sekitar Masjid Istiqlal pada hari Jumat, 14 Oktober 2016 sekitar pukul 10.00-15.00 WIB, karena ormas-ormas Islam akan melakukan aksi unjuk rasa yang berpotensi menganggu keamanan dan ketertiban.
2. Unjuk rasa dari beberapa ormas Islam dalam jumlah besar yang dimulai dari titik kumpul di Masjid Istiqlal pada pukul 10.00 WIB dan akan menuju beberapa tempat antara lain Mapolda Metro Jaya di Jalan Sudirman (Semanggi).
3. Pihak kepolisian akan melakukan penjagaan lebih ketat di komplek Gereja Katedral dan Kantor KAJ karena aksi ormas-ormas Islam ini berpotensi menimbulkan aksi anarkis dan tindakan brutal. Satuan pengamanan dalam maupun aparat Polres Jakarta Pusat dan Polda Metro Jaya akan menjaga Gereja untuk menghindarkan dari aksi-aksi anarkis yang dilakukan Ormas Islam peserta unjuk rasa.

Islam
Islam (/ˈɪslɑːm/;Arabic: الإسلام, al-ʾIslām IPA: [alʔisˈlaːm]) is a monotheistic and Abrahamic religion articulated by the Qur'an, a religious text considered by its adherents to be the verbatim word of God (Allāh), and, for the vast majority of adherents, by the teachings and normative example (called the sunnah, composed of accounts called hadith) of Muhammad (c. 570–8 June 632 CE), considered by most of them to be the last prophet of God. An adherent of Islam is called a Muslim (sometimes spelled "Moslem").
Muslims believe that God is one and incomparable and that the purpose of existence is to worship God. Muslims also believe that Islam is the complete and universal version of a primordial faith that was revealed many times before through prophets including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Muslims maintain that the previous messages and revelations have been partially misinterpreted over time, they are nevertheless all obliged, according to the Qur'an, to treat the older scriptures with the utmost respect.

Front Pembela Islam (FPI), Front Umat Islam (FUI) dan Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) akan menggelar aksi demonstrasi besar-besaran pada Jumat (14/10). Aksi massa yang diklaim akan diikuti ratusan ribu orang ini dipusatkan di Masjid Istiqlal Jakarta dan dilakukan sehabis sholat Jumatan. Massa FPI se-Indonesia akan berkumpul di Masjid Istiqlal mulai pukul 10.00 WIB. Pada kotbah sholat Jumatan tersebut tokoh-tokoh Islam dijadwalkan akan berkotbah dan membakar semangat jihad untuk membela Islam serta menekan pihak kepolisian untuk memproses Gubernur DKI Jakarta Basuki Thajaja Purnama atau Ahok. MUI memutuskan Ahok telah melakukan penistaan terhadap Islam dan Al Quran. Rencana aksi besar-besaran umat Islam ini diputuskan dalam pertemuan Gerakan Masyarakat Jakarta (GMJ), yang dihadiri para ulama, habaib, dan pimpinan Ormas-Ormas Islam. Aksi akan dimulai di Masjid Istiqlal dan dilanjutkan long march ke Kantor Bareskrim Mabes Polri, Balaikota Jakarta (Kantor Ahok), dan DPRD Jakarta. FPI mengklaim peserta aksi tidak hanya umat Islam dari Jakarta, tapi juga akan dihadiri perwakilan umat Islam se-Indonesia yang siap melakukan jihad melawan musuh-musuh Islam. Ahok ditetapkan sebagai musuh Islam urutan pertama. Ahok sebagai orang Kafir tidak boleh jadi Gubernur DKI Jakarta. Koordinator aksi dari Forum Umat Islam (FUI) Habib Ali Alatas mendesak polisi menangkap Ahok karena telah menista Islam dan Al Quran. “Umat Islam bersatu padu untuk meminta polisi segera menyelesaikan kasus pidana yang menjerat Ahok yang merupakan musuh Islam,” kata Habib Ali seperti dikutip dari Harian Terbit, Kamis (13/10). FPI Jabodetabek akan mendapat tambahan kekuatan dari FPI se-Indonesia diantaranya 30.000 Laskar FPI Aceh yang sudah terlatih melakukan jihad. “Selama ini para laskar FPI Aceh belum pernah menggunakan keahlian yang telah mereka miliki karena musuh Islam belum nyata. Sekarang musuh telah nyata dan perlu diperangi untuk menghilangkan fitnah terhadap Islam yang dilontarkan Ahok, Gubernur DKI. Kami siapkan laskar berangkat ke Jakarta. Kami siapkan para syuhada yang siap mati syahid,” kata Ketua FPI Aceh Muslim At Thahiry kepada wartawan minggu lalu. Sedangkan dari Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), Angkatan Muda (AM) Forum Ukhuwwah Islamiyyah (FUI) Yogyakarta siap memberangkatkan ribuan mujahid untuk mengepung Kantor Balai Kota DKI Jakarta. “Kepada umat Islam, Ahok dengan berbagai pernyataan sudah berulang kali melukai umat Islam dan atas pelecehannya terhadap surat Al Maidah ayat 51. Umat Islam tidak bisa tinggal diam,” kata Amir AM FUI Yogyakarta, Ustadz Umar Said. Sementara itu pihak aparat keamanan juga telah memberikan peringatan pada Gereja Katedral Jakarta yang letaknya berseberangan jalan dengan Masjid Istiqlal untuk mengantisipasi aksi anarkis dan ancaman pengrusakan yang akan dilakukan oleh ormas-ormasi Islam seperti FPI, FUI dan ormas-ormas radikal lainnya. Maka untuk itu perlu ada kewaspadaan : 1. Jika tidak sangat penting dan mendesak, mohon para Pastor/Ibu/Bapak/Saudara/i untuk sementara tidak mengunjungi Gereja Katedral dan Kantor Keuskupan Agung Jakarta (KAJ) serta tidak menuju tempat lain di kawasan sekitar Masjid Istiqlal pada hari Jumat, 14 Oktober 2016 sekitar pukul 10.00-15.00 WIB, karena ormas-ormas Islam akan melakukan aksi unjuk rasa yang berpotensi menganggu keamanan dan ketertiban. 2. Unjuk rasa dari beberapa ormas Islam dalam jumlah besar yang dimulai dari titik kumpul di Masjid Istiqlal pada pukul 10.00 WIB dan akan menuju beberapa tempat antara lain Mapolda Metro Jaya di Jalan Sudirman (Semanggi). 3. Pihak kepolisian akan melakukan penjagaan lebih ketat di komplek Gereja Katedral dan Kantor KAJ karena aksi ormas-ormas Islam ini berpotensi menimbulkan aksi anarkis dan tindakan brutal. Satuan pengamanan dalam maupun aparat Polres Jakarta Pusat dan Polda Metro Jaya akan menjaga Gereja untuk menghindarkan dari aksi-aksi anarkis yang dilakukan Ormas Islam peserta unjuk rasa. -

I was raised a practicing Muslim and remained one for almost half my life. I attended madrassas, that is, Islamic schools, and memorized large parts of the Qur'an. As a child, I lived in Mecca for a time and frequently visited the Grand Mosque. As a teenager, I sympathized with the Muslim Brotherhood.
At 22 while my family was living in Kenya, my father arranged my marriage to a member of our family clan, a man that I had never met. I ran away, made my way to Holland, studied there and eventually was elected a member of the Dutch parliament. Now I live in the United States.
In short, I have seen Islam from the inside and the outside.
I believe that a reform of Islam is necessary and possible. And only Muslims can make that reform a reality. But we in the West cannot remain on the sidelines as though the outcome of this struggle has nothing to do with us. If the jihadists win and the hope for a reformed Islam dies, the rest of the world will pay a terrible price. The terror attacks in New York, London, Madrid, Paris and many other places are only a preview for what is to come.
For this reason, I believe that it’s foolish to insist, as Western leaders habitually do, that the violent acts committed in the name of Islam can somehow be divorced from the religion itself. For more than a decade, my message has been simple: Islam is not a religion of peace.
When I assert this, I do not mean that Islamic belief makes all Muslims violent. This is manifestly not the case: There are many millions of peaceful Muslims in the world. What I do say is that the call to violence and the justification for it are explicitly stated in the sacred texts of Islam. Moreover, this theologically sanctioned violence is there to be activated by any number of offenses, including but not limited to adultery, blasphemy, homosexuality and apostasy--that is to leave Islam.
Those who tolerate this intolerance do so at their peril.
As someone who has known what it is to live without freedom, I watch in amazement as those who call themselves liberals and progressives--people who claim to believe so fervently in individual liberty and minority rights--make common cause with the forces in the world that manifestly pose the greatest threats to that very freedom and those very minorities.
In 2014 I was invited to accept an honorary degree from Brandeis University for the work I have done on behalf of women's rights in the Muslim world. That invitation was withdrawn after professors and students protested my criticism of Islam. My subsequent "disinvitation," as it came to be called, was no favor to Muslims--just the opposite. Instead of contorting Western intellectual traditions so as not to offend our Muslim fellow citizens, we need to defend both those traditions and the Muslim dissidents who take great risks to promote them. We should support these brave men and women in every way possible.
Imagine a platform for Muslim dissidents that communicated their message through YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. These are the Muslims we should be supporting - for our sake as much for the sake of Islam.

I was raised a practicing Muslim and remained one for almost half my life. I attended madrassas, that is, Islamic schools, and memorized large parts of the Qur'an. As a child, I lived in Mecca for a time and frequently visited the Grand Mosque. As a teenager, I sympathized with the Muslim Brotherhood.
At 22 while my family was living in Kenya, my father arranged my marriage to a member of our family clan, a man that I had never met. I ran away, made my way to Holland, studied there and eventually was elected a member of the Dutch parliament. Now I live in the United States.
In short, I have seen Islam from the inside and the outside.
I believe that a reform of Islam is necessary and possible. And only Muslims can make that reform a reality. But we in the West cannot remain on the sidelines as though the outcome of this struggle has nothing to do with us. If the jihadists win and the hope for a reformed Islam dies, the rest of the world will pay a terrible price. The terror attacks in New York, London, Madrid, Paris and many other places are only a preview for what is to come.

Front Pembela Islam (FPI), Front Umat Islam (FUI) dan Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) akan menggelar aksi demonstrasi besar-besaran pada Jumat (14/10). Aksi massa yang diklaim akan diikuti ratusan ribu orang ini dipusatkan di Masjid Istiqlal Jakarta dan dilakukan sehabis sholat Jumatan.
Massa FPI se-Indonesia akan berkumpul di Masjid Istiqlal mulai pukul 10.00 WIB. Pada kotbah sholat Jumatan tersebut tokoh-tokoh Islam dijadwalkan akan berkotbah dan membakar semangat jihad untuk membela Islam serta menekan pihak kepolisian untuk memproses Gubernur DKI Jakarta Basuki Thajaja Purnama atau Ahok. MUI memutuskan Ahok telah melakukan penistaan terhadap Islam dan Al Quran.
Rencana aksi besar-besaran umat Islam ini diputuskan dalam pertemuan Gerakan Masyarakat Jakarta (GMJ), yang dihadiri para ulama, habaib, dan pimpinan Ormas-Ormas Islam. Aksi akan dimulai di Masjid Istiqlal dan dilanjutkan long march ke Kantor Bareskrim Mabes Polri, Balaikota Jakarta (Kantor Ahok), dan DPRD Jakarta.
FPI mengklaim peserta aksi tidak hanya umat Islam dari Jakarta, tapi juga akan dihadiri perwakilan umat Islam se-Indonesia yang siap melakukan jihad melawan musuh-musuh Islam. Ahok ditetapkan sebagai musuh Islam urutan pertama. Ahok sebagai orang Kafir tidak boleh jadi Gubernur DKI Jakarta.
Koordinator aksi dari Forum Umat Islam (FUI) Habib Ali Alatas mendesak polisi menangkap Ahok karena telah menista Islam dan Al Quran. “Umat Islam bersatu padu untuk meminta polisi segera menyelesaikan kasus pidana yang menjerat Ahok yang merupakan musuh Islam,” kata Habib Ali seperti dikutip dari Harian Terbit, Kamis (13/10).
FPI Jabodetabek akan mendapat tambahan kekuatan dari FPI se-Indonesia diantaranya 30.000 Laskar FPI Aceh yang sudah terlatih melakukan jihad. “Selama ini para laskar FPI Aceh belum pernah menggunakan keahlian yang telah mereka miliki karena musuh Islam belum nyata. Sekarang musuh telah nyata dan perlu diperangi untuk menghilangkan fitnah terhadap Islam yang dilontarkan Ahok, Gubernur DKI. Kami siapkan laskar berangkat ke Jakarta. Kami siapkan para syuhada yang siap mati syahid,” kata Ketua FPI Aceh Muslim At Thahiry kepada wartawan minggu lalu.
Sedangkan dari Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), Angkatan Muda (AM) Forum Ukhuwwah Islamiyyah (FUI) Yogyakarta siap memberangkatkan ribuan mujahid untuk mengepung Kantor Balai Kota DKI Jakarta. “Kepada umat Islam, Ahok dengan berbagai pernyataan sudah berulang kali melukai umat Islam dan atas pelecehannya terhadap surat Al Maidah ayat 51. Umat Islam tidak bisa tinggal diam,” kata Amir AM FUI Yogyakarta, Ustadz Umar Said.
Sementara itu pihak aparat keamanan juga telah memberikan peringatan pada Gereja Katedral Jakarta yang letaknya berseberangan jalan dengan Masjid Istiqlal untuk mengantisipasi aksi anarkis dan ancaman pengrusakan yang akan dilakukan oleh ormas-ormasi Islam seperti FPI, FUI dan ormas-ormas radikal lainnya.
Maka untuk itu perlu ada kewaspadaan :
1. Jika tidak sangat penting dan mendesak, mohon para Pastor/Ibu/Bapak/Saudara/i untuk sementara tidak mengunjungi Gereja Katedral dan Kantor Keuskupan Agung Jakarta (KAJ) serta tidak menuju tempat lain di kawasan sekitar Masjid Istiqlal pada hari Jumat, 14 Oktober 2016 sekitar pukul 10.00-15.00 WIB, karena ormas-ormas Islam akan melakukan aksi unjuk rasa yang berpotensi menganggu keamanan dan ketertiban.
2. Unjuk rasa dari beberapa ormas Islam dalam jumlah besar yang dimulai dari titik kumpul di Masjid Istiqlal pada pukul 10.00 WIB dan akan menuju beberapa tempat antara lain Mapolda Metro Jaya di Jalan Sudirman (Semanggi).
3. Pihak kepolisian akan melakukan penjagaan lebih ketat di komplek Gereja Katedral dan Kantor KAJ karena aksi ormas-ormas Islam ini berpotensi menimbulkan aksi anarkis dan tindakan brutal. Satuan pengamanan dalam maupun aparat Polres Jakarta Pusat dan Polda Metro Jaya akan menjaga Gereja untuk menghindarkan dari aksi-aksi anarkis yang dilakukan Ormas Islam peserta unjuk rasa.

Front Pembela Islam (FPI), Front Umat Islam (FUI) dan Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) akan menggelar aksi demonstrasi besar-besaran pada Jumat (14/10). Aksi massa yang diklaim akan diikuti ratusan ribu orang ini dipusatkan di Masjid Istiqlal Jakarta dan dilakukan sehabis sholat Jumatan.
Massa FPI se-Indonesia akan berkumpul di Masjid Istiqlal mulai pukul 10.00 WIB. Pada kotbah sholat Jumatan tersebut tokoh-tokoh Islam dijadwalkan akan berkotbah dan membakar semangat jihad untuk membela Islam serta menekan pihak kepolisian untuk memproses Gubernur DKI Jakarta Basuki Thajaja Purnama atau Ahok. MUI memutuskan Ahok telah melakukan penistaan terhadap Islam dan Al Quran.
Rencana aksi besar-besaran umat Islam ini diputuskan dalam pertemuan Gerakan Masyarakat Jakarta (GMJ), yang dihadiri para ulama, habaib, dan pimpinan Ormas-Ormas Islam. Aksi akan dimulai di Masjid Istiqlal dan dilanjutkan long march ke Kantor Bareskrim Mabes Polri, Balaikota Jakarta (Kantor Ahok), dan DPRD Jakarta.
FPI mengklaim peserta aksi tidak hanya umat Islam dari Jakarta, tapi juga akan dihadiri perwakilan umat Islam se-Indonesia yang siap melakukan jihad melawan musuh-musuh Islam. Ahok ditetapkan sebagai musuh Islam urutan pertama. Ahok sebagai orang Kafir tidak boleh jadi Gubernur DKI Jakarta.
Koordinator aksi dari Forum Umat Islam (FUI) Habib Ali Alatas mendesak polisi menangkap Ahok karena telah menista Islam dan Al Quran. “Umat Islam bersatu padu untuk meminta polisi segera menyelesaikan kasus pidana yang menjerat Ahok yang merupakan musuh Islam,” kata Habib Ali seperti dikutip dari Harian Terbit, Kamis (13/10).
FPI Jabodetabek akan mendapat tambahan kekuatan dari FPI se-Indonesia diantaranya 30.000 Laskar FPI Aceh yang sudah terlatih melakukan jihad. “Selama ini para laskar FPI Aceh belum pernah menggunakan keahlian yang telah mereka miliki karena musuh Islam belum nyata. Sekarang musuh telah nyata dan perlu diperangi untuk menghilangkan fitnah terhadap Islam yang dilontarkan Ahok, Gubernur DKI. Kami siapkan laskar berangkat ke Jakarta. Kami siapkan para syuhada yang siap mati syahid,” kata Ketua FPI Aceh Muslim At Thahiry kepada wartawan minggu lalu.
Sedangkan dari Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), Angkatan Muda (AM) Forum Ukhuwwah Islamiyyah (FUI) Yogyakarta siap memberangkatkan ribuan mujahid untuk mengepung Kantor Balai Kota DKI Jakarta. “Kepada umat Islam, Ahok dengan berbagai pernyataan sudah berulang kali melukai umat Islam dan atas pelecehannya terhadap surat Al Maidah ayat 51. Umat Islam tidak bisa tinggal diam,” kata Amir AM FUI Yogyakarta, Ustadz Umar Said.
Sementara itu pihak aparat keamanan juga telah memberikan peringatan pada Gereja Katedral Jakarta yang letaknya berseberangan jalan dengan Masjid Istiqlal untuk mengantisipasi aksi anarkis dan ancaman pengrusakan yang akan dilakukan oleh ormas-ormasi Islam seperti FPI, FUI dan ormas-ormas radikal lainnya.
Maka untuk itu perlu ada kewaspadaan :
1. Jika tidak sangat penting dan mendesak, mohon para Pastor/Ibu/Bapak/Saudara/i untuk sementara tidak mengunjungi Gereja Katedral dan Kantor Keuskupan Agung Jakarta (KAJ) serta tidak menuju tempat lain di kawasan sekitar Masjid Istiqlal pada hari Jumat, 14 Oktober 2016 sekitar pukul 10.00-15.00 WIB, karena ormas-ormas Islam akan melakukan aksi unjuk rasa yang berpotensi menganggu keamanan dan ketertiban.

"AHOK minta maaf untuk kegaduhan ini. Ahok rasa komentar ini jangan dilanjutkan lagi karena tentu mengganggu keharmonisan hidup berbangsa dan bernegara. Tidak ada niat apapun saat itu, bahkan orang Pulau Seribu pun saat itu tertawa kok," kata Ahok di Balai Kota, Senin (10/10).
Menurut dia, dirinya tidak bermaksud melecehkan agama Islam. "Tidak ada maksud saya melecehkan agama Islam karena videonya seperti apa. Semua wartawan TV juga saat itu menayangkan, tapi gak ada yang bilang bahwa itu penistaan atau pelecehan. Saya juga bukan ahli Islam," katanya.
Ahok juga mengklaim tindakannya selama ini tidak melecehkan umat Islam. Ia mencontohkan beberapa kebijakannya yang mendukung Islam, seperti perizinan sekolah Islam yang dibantu oleh Pemprov DKI Jakarta, termasuk KJP Madrasah dan bangunan masjid. "Kamu bisa lihat tindak tanduk saya ada gak melecehkan Islam?"
"Makanya saya mengerti sekali, ini memang urusan pribadi, setiap orang punya hak yang sama. Urusan agama adalah urusan pribadi jangan dikeluarkan ke publik. Makanya saya juga tidak akan menyinggung lagi," katanya.
Sebelumnya, Ahok mengucapkan maaf secara terbuka kepada umat Islam karena pernyataan saat berkunjung di Kepulauan Seribu. "Yang pasti saya sampaikan kepada semua umat Islam ataupun orang yang merasa tersinggung, saya sampaikan mohon maaf."

Berita 12 Oktober 2016 - Sudah minta maaf, Ahok tetap dipolisikan Ormas Islam
Organisasi masyarakat dari Aliansi Pergerakan Islam (API) Jawa Barat melaporkan Gubernur DKI Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok ke polisi. Meski Ahok sudah meminta maaf tetapi Ormas menilai penghinaan agama telah dilakukan.API Jabar menyambangi Sentra Pelayanan Kepolisian Terpadu (SKPT) Mapolda Jabar, Kota Bandung, Selasa (11/10). Kedatangannya tersebut dilakukan untuk menjadi pembelajaran bagi orang yang dinilai menyepelekan agama.
"Proses hukum harus berjalan, meski Ahok sudah meminta maaf. Ini bukan masalah sepele kalau soal agama. Aparat kepolisian harus menyikapi agar kasus penistaan agama ini terang benderang," ujar Ketua API Jabar Asep Syaripudin.
Dia menilai, ucapan Ahok ihwal Al Maidah ayat 51 telah menyinggung umat muslim. Sehingga proses hukum harus ditegakkan bila ada orang atau pihak yang menghina agama.
"Kedatangan kami ke Polda Jabar untuk menyampaikan ekspresi ketersinggungan terhadap Ahok yang telah menistakan agama Islam. Kami umat Islam di Jabar tersinggung dan marah kepada Ahok," ucapnya.
API Jabar yang diisi sejumlah elemen ormas Islam antara lain FPI, LPI, Dewan Dakwah, Pemuda Muhammadiyah dan Pangajian Politik Islam melaporkan Ahok atas dugaan melanggar Pasal 156a KUHPidana tentang Penodaan Agama. Penanganan laporan tersebut nantinya ditangani Bareskrim Mabes Polri.
"Laporan kami diterima Polda Jabar, memang untuk kasus Ahok ini domainnya oleh Bareskrim Mabes Polri. Prinsipnya kami sudah lapor Polda Jabar, ya kami apresiasi. Untuk selanjutnya kami serahkan sesuai mekanisme hukum berlaku," tandasnya.
Kabid Humas Polda Jabar Kombes Pol Yusri Yunus mengatakan, laporan API Jabar kemudian akan dilimpahkan ke Bareskrim Mabes Polri. Sebab peristiwa tersebut terjadi di wilayah hukum DKI Jakarta.
"Laporannya kami terima. Polda Jabar nanti menyerahkan laporan ini ke Bareskrim Mabes Polri. Karena kami tidak bisa memproses karena locus delicti yang terjadi di Jakarta," terangnya.
