A wainwright or cartwright is a trades person skilled in the making and repairing of wagons and carts. The word wainwright is the combination of the archaic words "wain" (a large wagon for farm use) and "wright" (a worker or maker). A master wainwright employs several craftsmen, including wheelwrights, blacksmiths, and painters.
Rufus McGarrigle Wainwright (born July 22, 1973) is an American-Canadiansinger-songwriter and composer. He has recorded seven albums of original music and numerous tracks on compilations and film soundtracks. He has also written a classical opera and set Shakespeare sonnets to music for a theater piece by Robert Wilson.
Wainwright was born in Rhinebeck, New York, to folk singers Kate McGarrigle and Loudon Wainwright III. His parents divorced when he was three, and he lived with his mother in Montreal for most of his youth. Wainwright has dual US and Canadian citizenship. He attended high school at the Millbrook School in New York (which would later inspire his song "Millbrook"), and later briefly studied piano at McGill in Montreal. He began playing the piano at age six, and started touring at age 13 with "The McGarrigle Sisters and Family", a folk group featuring Rufus, his sister Martha, his mother Kate, and aunt Anna. His song "I'm a-Runnin'", which he performed in the film Tommy Tricker and the Stamp Traveller at the age of 14, earned him a nomination for a 1989 Genie Award for Best Original Song. He was nominated for a 1990 Juno Award for Most Promising Male Vocalist of the Year.
William Martin "Billy" Joel (born May 9, 1949) is an American pianist, singer-songwriter, and composer. Since releasing his first hit song, "Piano Man", in 1973, Joel has become the sixth-best-selling recording artist and the third-best-selling solo artist in the United States. His compilation album Greatest Hits Vol. 1 & 2 is one of the best-selling albums in the US.
Joel had Top 40 hits in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, achieving 33 Top 40 hits in the US, all of which he wrote himself. He is also a six-time Grammy Award winner who has been nominated for 23 Grammy Awards. He has sold more than 150 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time.
Joel was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame (1992), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1999), and the Long Island Music Hall of Fame (2006). In 2001, Joel received the Johnny Mercer Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2013, Joel received the Kennedy Center Honors, the nation's highest honor for influencing American culture through the arts. With the exception of the 2007 songs "All My Life" and "Christmas in Fallujah", Joel stopped writing and releasing pop/rock material after 1993's River of Dreams. However, he continues to tour, and he plays songs from all eras of his solo career in his concerts.

It was a magical evening. 1500 hundred singers came to Luminato Festival at the Hearn Generating Station in Toronto. Daveed + Nobu (AKA DaBu) taught them back up parts to Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah, then Rufus Wainwright joined them on stage to sing lead. It was an EPIC NIGHT! to remember. Thanks to everyone who made this happen. For more info: choirchoirchoir.com @choirchoirchoir on socials rufuswainwright.com @rufuswainwright
Lyrics: I heard there was a secret chord That David played and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do you? It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift, the baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelu----jah Your faith was strong but you needed proof, you saw her bathing on the roof, her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you She tied you to a kitchen chair, she broke your throne, she cut your hair, and from your lips she drew the Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelu----jah Maybe I have been here before, I know this room; I have walked this floor, I used to live alone before I knew you I've seen your flag on the marble arch, love is not a victory march, it's a cold and its ...

Turn it off; Turn it off. (I) Won't make that mistake
(I've) Been down this road before
Think again; Think again. I will not compromise
(I) Won't compromise anything
Beat down; (I'm) At the end of my rope
Beat down; (I) Can't stand these changes
Beat down; Headfirst I take on survival, survival
Try to tear my down
I won't hesitate to stand face to face with my worst enemy (x2)
Standing tall in the face of defeat. Go it alone at my discretion
The hammer falls whenever my will says it does, I promise you
I've fallen all too far, Obsession with the shadow in the light
This constant war will lead me home
This constant war will force me onward
Try to tear me down, Headfirst I take on survival
I fell all too far, Obsession with the shadow in the light
I'm at a constant war(x2)
Yet this strife has carried me to my home
I've fallen all too far, Tear me down
Lost in the shadows in the light, Tear me down
Only word
It's been a lifetime of fueled obsessions
a promise kept is my only word
Only word
Lost in the shadows in the light, Tear me down
A promise kept is my only word
