The PLA is under the command of the Central Military Commission of the CPC. The Ministry of National Defense, which operates under the State Council, does not exercise any authority over the PLA and is far less powerful than the Central Military Commission (CMC).[citation needed] A system of political officers embedded within the military assures party authority over the armed forces, so that the primary role of the Ministry of Defense is that of a liaison office with foreign militaries. The political and military leadership have made a concerted effort to create a professional military force restricted to national defense and to the provision of assistance in domestic economic construction and emergency relief. This conception of the role of the PLA requires the promotion of specialized officers who can understand modern weaponry and handle combined arms operations. Troops around the country are stationed in seven military regions and more than 20 military districts.
Military service is compulsory by law; however, compulsory military service in China has never been enforced due to large numbers of volunteers from China's population. In times of national emergency, the People's Armed Police and the People's Liberation Army Militia act as a reserve and support element for the PLA, primarily for the People's Liberation Army Ground Force.

STORYLINE
China took foreign journalists on a tour of a People's Liberation Army division, north of Beijing on Tuesday, calling it a sign the world's largest army was improving its openness and transparency.
China has the largest military in the world, and in recent years has been developing fighting capabilities to meet modern day challenges
Senior Colonel Leng Jiesong, head of the Third Guard Division, consisting of two motorized infantry regiments, told journalists the tour of soldiers living quarters was an example of a policy of increased openness.
Leng said China had " a responsibility and a duty to participate in the global community - and so our military is also developing and training to interact with the outside world more."
For this historically defensive minded army, modern day challenges include dealing with militants, piracy and peacekeeping.
This reflects the country's growing role on the international stage as an economic and political heavy weight.
The army remains popular for young men - especially those from the countryside - as an opportunity to learn technical skills and advance a career outside of their home towns.
Sun Yu is a young soldier from Inner Mongolia province to the North and says he enjoys being a soldier as he learns both military and civilian skills.
In the past, China has long been tight lipped about its military strength and capacity, drawing criticism from other countries wary of the Asian giant's growing power and skyrocketing military spending.

The song's former name was March of the Eighth Route Army (simplified Chinese: 八路军进行曲; traditional Chinese: zh; pinyin: Bālùjūn Jìnxíngqǔ), and was one of the six songs in the Chorus of Eighth Route Army (simplified Chinese: 八路军大合唱; traditional Chinese: 八路軍大合唱; pinyin: Bālùjūn Dàhéchàng), all of which had Gong Mu as song writer and Zheng Lücheng as the composer. The song became known as the "March of the Liberation Army" (simplified Chinese: 解放军进行曲; traditional Chinese: 解放軍進行曲; pinyin: Jiěfàngjūn Jìnxíngqǔ) during the second Chinese Civil War. The lyrics were re-edited by the General Political Department in 1951 and the song renamed to March of the Chinese PLA in 1965.

Patty Hearst
Patricia Campbell Hearst (born February 20, 1954), now known as Patricia Hearst-Shaw, is the granddaughter of American publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst; she became nationally known for events following her kidnapping. In 1974, while she was a 19-year-old student living in Berkeley, California, Hearst was abducted by a left-wing terrorist group known as the Symbionese Liberation Army. After being isolated and threatened with death, she became supportive of their cause, making propaganda announcements for them and taking part in illegal activities.
Hearst was found 19 months after her kidnapping, by which time she was a fugitive wanted for serious crimes. She was held in custody, despite speculation that her family's resources would prevent her spending time in jail. At her trial, the prosecution made Hearst's character and sexual morality an issue, suggesting that she had not been raped while being held prisoner by the SLA. She was found guilty of bank robbery. Her conviction and long prison sentence were widely seen as unjust, but the procedural correctness of her trial was upheld by the courts. Hearst's sentence was commuted by President Jimmy Carter, and she was pardoned by President Bill Clinton.

The lyrics were re-edited by the General Political Department in 1951 and the song renamed to March of the Chinese PLA in 1965. The political and military leadership have made a concerted effort to create a professional military force restricted to national defense and to the provision of assistance in domestic economic construction and emergency relief. This conception of the role of the PLA requires the promotion of specialized officers who can understand modern weaponry and handle combined arms operations. Troops around the country are stationed in seven military regions and more than 20 military districts.
Military service is compulsory by law; however, compulsory military service in China has never been enforced due to large numbers of volunteers from China's population. In times of national emergency, the People's Armed Police and the People's Liberation Army Militia act as a reserve and support element for the PLA, primarily for the People's Liberation Army Ground Force.

China took foreign journalists on a tour of a People's Liberation Army division, north of Beijing on Tuesday, calling it a sign the world's largest army was improving its openness and transparency.
China has the largest military in the world, and in recent years has been developing fighting capabilities to meet modern day challenges
Senior Colonel Leng Jiesong, head of the Third Guard Division, consisting of two motorized infantry regiments, told journalists the tour of soldiers living quarters was an example of a policy of increased openness.
Leng said China had " a responsibility and a duty to participate in the global community - and so our military is also developing and training to interact with the outside world more."
For this historically defensive minded army, modern day challenges include dealing with militants, piracy and peacekeeping.
This reflects the country's growing role on the international stage as an economic and political heavy weight.

China will mark the 70th anniversary of the surrender of regional rival Japan, that marked the end of World War Two with a military parade on Tiananmen Square in Beijing on September 3. Around 12,000 soldiers from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) will participate in the parade and 500 pieces of hardware are to be showcased at the parade including a range of aircraft. James Cone- founder of Black Liberation theology: “Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us & against white people, then he is a murderer, & we had better kill him.
Clarification for those who still don't understand: Black Liberation Theology opposes the “white” person in the same way Islamic jihadists oppose the kafir.
FACT- Black Liberation theology is the affirmation of Black humanity that emancipates black people from white racism. Based on victimology, it is essentially a highly selective interpretation of the Gospels in an attempt to co-opt Christianity to promote Communism & Marxism. Black Liberation Theology was coined by James H. Cone. It is to reject the idea of God's universal nature in favor of race-based critique of theological provenance.
FACT- Black Liberation theology churches are NOT a help to the Black Christian community because they diminish the message of the gospel & divide people by race upholding black nationalism over the cross of Christ that is supposed to unite us all.
