Nine reported the controversy stemmed from an incident with a taxi driver, who complained Mr Mehajer and two of his friends were "spilling ice cream and chips" in the back seat.
The 30-year-old allegedly attempted to kick the driver before he was ejected from the taxi with his friends.
Police subsequently arrived at the scene and Mr Mehajer and his friends were handcuffed, frisked and put in the back of a police van.
It is unclear if the trio were charged over the incident.
Fairfax Media has attempted to contact Mr Mehajer for comment.
The incident is the latest in a string of legal headaches for the former deputy mayor of Auburn.
In July the Downing Centre Local Court continued an Apprehended Violence Order preventing him from approaching or contacting his estranged wife Aysha.
The matter was later resolved by the parties without further court action.
Mr Mehajer is also facing a criminal trial over alleged electoral fraud offences.
Mr Mehajer has brushed off allegations he forged electoral documents to rig the 2012 ballot that saw him elected to Auburn Council as "a political game targeting Auburn council as a whole".
In September Mr Mehajer hinted on his Instagram page that he was leaving the country by posting a picture of a ship on Sydney Harbour with the caption, "Goodbye Australia".
"Will be taking off to pursue my dream challenges," he wrote, adding: "I'll be back."
It came hot on the heels of his left-of-field plan in August to launch a toiletries line in the manner of Miranda Kerr and Lara Bingle.
