Disney presents a heartwarming comedy-adventure set in the modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia. With habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with fast-talking scam-artist fox Nick Wilde to solve the mystery.

Zootopia excels on so many levels that it stands with the finest of the Disney classics.
Anthony Lane
"Zootopia," like its heroine, is zesty, bright, and breakneck, with chase scenes and well-tuned gags where you half expect songs to be.
James Berardinelli
There's a lot here for kids to like and nearly as much to keep parents from fidgeting.
Christopher Orr
In many ways a conventional movie, but it unfolds with so much wit, panache, and visual ingenuity that it outstrips many a more high-concept film.
David Edelstein
What saves this big-budget cartoon behemoth is its modest, old-fashioned storytelling.
Matt Zoller Seitz
A funny, beautifully designed kids' film with a message that it restates at every turn.

Somehow, Disney has managed to pull off a hard-boiled police procedural thriller about political corruption starring an adorable, large-eyed bunny. As strange as this combination might seem, it works. Who knew bunnies could make such intrepid rookie cops?

Bright and colorful, kid friendly, and yet surprisingly deep storyline. The latest in a list of animated content that can be appreciated by children and adults alike. I cannot express just how much I loved this movie. The writing is witty, quick, and inventive. The scenery is astoundingly beautiful. The characters have depth their superficial appearance belies. I was so worried that Judy would be written as an "everything by the book, inflexible morality, right and wrong are black and white" insufferable lead... but she's streetwise, willing to hustle with the best of them to get results in her case. Nick is fantastically sly, but there's more to him than just that and it takes a bit to melt away that callous exterior. I cannot wait to see what else Disney decides to do with this property. Considering it's currently #35 in the top 50 highest grossing films of all time, I sure hope they keep going with it... and maintain this degree of quality. If you haven't seen this movie, watch it. If you have, watch it again.
An enjoyable detective story that plays well with the anachronisms of animals in a human world, Zootopia's plot is well paced but not all revolutionary (it plays like a long Scooby Doo episode). However, this does not make it less enjoyable for adults as it deftly plays with very relevant and cutting undertones that play more as a teardown of current society than a fun and colorful romp through the world of the animals. Sadly, right when the movie has a chance to truly seal the deal in its commentary, it lets off the gas and gives the film's villain an out instead of pulling for the full real-world analogue. The lack of fully three dimensional characters is something that the film suffers from, with only its leads getting any sort of meaninful depth that isn't setup for the punchline to a later joke. With a plot that isn't going to be remembered a week down the line, the strength of the characters is important, and on this front Zootopia leans far too hard on its leads.
Zootopia is a wonderful example of film transcending entertainment. It's thought-provoking, witty, and all-in-all a light-hearted movie with a powerful message. Ginnifer Goodwin (Judy Hopps) and Jason Bateman (Nick Wilde) star in this work, portraying a goodhearted, justice centered rabbit and a sly, hustling fox. Sounds like the beginning of any good buddy cop film, but with a twist in it's core. Backed by the talented Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Alan Tudyk, Tommy Chong, and other film and television legends, they take on one of the greatest social grievances we as a human family face: Racism, stereotyping, and fear mongering. Zootopia is a city of wonder, where Predator and Prey can stand side-by-side and live in harmony, but is plagued by a villainous plot, to put the prey on top of the predators for once. 14 missing mammals are found early in the film by Officer Judy Hoppswith the help of Nick Wilde , all predators who have gone "savage," and contained by the cities mayor, who was trying to keep things under the rug for his protection, and to avoid panic. Together, Nick and Judy have to overcome social stigma to solve the case, and ensure the safety of Zootopia.
Some funny moments, but so racist. Here, PREDATORS are allegories for minorities (10% population figure given draws a line to African-Americans). But they EVOLVE to be 'human.' Bad guy uses a drug to make PREDATORS/blacks violent again. So the PREY/whites discriminate against PREDATORS/blacks out of fear that they're reverting to their unevolved states (meaning blacks were violent people but they evolved to be human?!) No reasoning against racism is given, save jumping to conclusions. I'm shocked no one sees the racism in this movie.
Was a bit worried the movie would be like most animations these days- utterly lackluster. I am so glad I was wrong! I loved this film. While a few of the jokes were cheesy/rehashed/tired/old I still found it very entertaining movie. Aside from just being fun to watch and listen too (great voice performances) it did something most films let alone ones geared toward children/family friendly ones never address- the issue of veiled (and not so veiled) prejudice in society and the effects it has on people. I think they handled the subject pretty well especially being a film overall meant for children. A definite must watch.
Furries, Absolutely Fantastic This is a must see movie with over 4 years of research and developement studio wide put toward making a rewl, living, breathing furry world ripe with social commentary and heartwarming lives of loveable characters. It has cleared over $1,000,000 before releasing on DVD, bluray, or digital copy, and it has become one of the very best rated mofies ever on RottenTomatoes and other high caliber movie review websites, and for very good reason! Do yourself a favor and buy it because you're going to want to watch it again and again. Disney has outdone itself and I can hardly stop smiling about Zootopia. (You may consider getting the collector's edition instead, though. ; 3)
If ever there was a Disney movie before that had such depth and bravery, a movie that idealized our world, that showed the true meaning of what life was like, well, throw it out the window, because this movie, Zootopia, is (without a doubt) the most decent, humorous, intelligent, heart warming, emotional, realistic (in both animation and real world ideas), insightful, and simply wonderful movie I have ever come across, and I daresay that it's the best I will ever find. I love this movie more than The Princess Bride, a wonderful and classic movie that I adored- I love this more than any action movie I've seen before, and I can't describe in any other way that this is the movie of the year- this is the movie that, if you missed it, you should rent it, have a movie night, enjoy some quality time with friends, because, my God, I can't describe enough how wonderful this film was. So Zootopia: Set in a world very much like ours, it focuses on the prejudices that people are put through every day, whether they're subject to them, or one of the oppressors. It has action and drama and humor, and I can't get enough out- this is the end of what I can write, wish there was more. BUY OR RENT PLZ
Absolute furry trash. If cancer could be re-created using bad animation, this would likely be it. To create something this truly awful, you either must have no idea what you are doing, or simply not care how completely terrible your creation is. However, it is unfair to people with mental disorders to say that whoever created this was retarded. They evidently knew exactly what they were doing when they created this monstrosity. This movie alone made me consider suicide.
Zootopia Zootopia is break hearting movie. At begin I thought should rate pg-13 because crude humor and savage animal and I more watch zootopia seen more pg like humor . I am not typically a movie guy. I find it hard to stay engrossed in movies. But this movie was just amazing. no filler at all but still keeping humor throughout the movie and staying to the plot of the story. The characters are very lovable and memorable. The story does an amazing job of leaving you NOT asking any questions as to anything that happens throughout the movie. I appsolutly loved this movie and even if it seems like somehting you wouldnt like give it a try. the story is acutally alot deeper then most people would think. without spoilers it simple enough for a child to fallow but deep enough for an adult to think about it and trully understand why things are the way they are in this movie. i can only hope and pray that a 2nd zootopia or in someway more zootopia is brought into the world
Good job, Google Play. The movie is absolutely fantastic. Why am I giving it one star? Because for some reason the video quality is horrendously choppy. There are many times when the video freezes but the audio just keeps on going. "Oh, you're just stupid," I hear you say. "You need to download the movie first." I did download it, and it's still choppy. I think I'll look for my movies elsewhere from now on.
Good Movie, Horrible Meaning This movie is a good movie, but if you compare this story to real life, it has a meaning that you would not expect Disney to do. Spoilers by the way. The population of Zootopia has 12% of its population being predators in which closer to the end of the movie prey start rejecting predator because of something they couldn't control. If you compare that to real life it's almost like Blacks in the USA, sometimes rejected, being afraid and hating them, it's almost telling the world today . (Not being racist)
Amazing movie with a great lesson behind it This movie is not only adorable and hilarious at the same time, but it also has the underlying message that stereotypes can be very harmful. When we use one stereotype of a type of person as a basis for all people of that group (race, sexuality, gender etc.) it is not only ridiculous and inaccurate, but also hurtful to the person that you stereotype and make out to be something they aren't. One of Disney's best movies so far, 5 stars from me.
Top Disney movie of our time I have been relatively saddened by Disney in the past few years. Their movies had lost their magic that the older animated films had. When I went to see this movie I had high hopes but low expectations. As I say and watched I couldn't help but be pulled into it's story it wasn't another Disney cliche or life is always good music number but a story that felt as real as the characters themselves. In the end I left the theatre I felt a strange sense of nostalgia and was utterly happy with the movie.
Makes racists and sexists angry Check out the one star reviews of people who miss the point entirely an complain about having to talk to their children about real world issues. This movie has heart, makes you think, and is effing gorgeous. Take the time to challenge yourself to have a lovely time.
Best Disney film since Lion King I was afraid Zootopia wouldn't live up to all the hype prior to it's release, but I can safely say it exceeded expectations in a big way. The train ride about ten minutes into the movie is the most visually stunning sequence I've ever seen in an animated film. The characters won me over in a big way, not just Nick and Judy but many of the supporting cast as well. The plot had a couple of nice twists and surprises, a powerful message, and hilarious gags such as the sheep's wool and the wolves howling.
Near Perfect & Great Mesages After seeing it 5 times now, I can't find any flaws worth calling out. The story is fantastic with several layers fit for all viewers, and very important messages about racism & sexism. To top off the fantastic story, the performances are spot on. I felt like the voices were as much a part of the charcters as their fur, hair, hide or whatever. Then the visual treat that is far and away the best animation I've ever seen. On the surface it may look like others, but it's very noticeable in 3D.
Best kids movie in quite some time I'm actually embarrassed by how much I liked this movie. Apart from some pointless middle scenes that were still quite humorous, this movie tells a well focused story with beautiful and original visuals. My favorite part was while the story felt quite preachy and obvious at first (a bunny can't be a cop!) About halfway through it really switches gears and becomes a story that is more mature than many adult movies. Recommended for all ages, nearly no drawbacks
A fantastic Disney film. Honestly I had my doubts about this movie but when I watched it all my expectations were beyond what I had imagined. First off the stereotypes predators have to deal with regarding their breed really hit home because a lot of diversity groups can relate to that second class citizen treatment. Second I love the animation done with the animals. Each one is captured in a unique way and I think the animators captured the sly, smug grin Nick Wilde holds throughout the movie. Fantastic job. Please make another.
Am I smelling conspiracy? and am I smelling money maker? conspiracy? yes. Good movie? yes. Conspiracy - drugs to take down predators - CIA try to reduce the black population with marijuana. will the kids find out? no. will they enjoy this movie? What the hell do you think of course! it's loveable in everyway...just try not to think about the plot tho. ok?
As soon as the bunny brought up race in (the most subtle way possible) I wanted to break the tv. Even though it's not its fault. You are all pathetic. A bunny calling another bunny cute is ok but a tiger calling a bunny cute is stereotypical(racist) ? Bunnies are cute. Then with the fox? Pathetic and purposely allowing racism to be prevalent in this day and age. Why bring it up otherwise?
This is the worst animated movie ever made Really? This? Popular? More like racist they should've cancelled it because: 1. Nighthowler is just crack made out of flowers 2: Bunny saying bunnies are cute is okay but a Tiger saying a bunny is cute is racist. 3: The Animals are just savage. That is why it is the worst movie ever made
The best modern Disney film. A shocking amount of social commentary and cop cliches help this movie pull through. Idris Elba and J.K Simmons give great performances as Cheif Bogo and Mayor Lionheart. Also this is the one Disney film that actually has a few effective jump scares. But I have some minor gripes. For example this movie has not one, but two surprise antagonists and another Frozen reference and I hate how Disney keeps trying to be a good Shymalan with their plot twists
What makes this movie very interesting So far, this movie is what finally made people stop talking about Frozen (when it comes to best Disney movies). The fact that Zootopia had made lots of money (according to box office history) threatens Frozen's mark in history. But what makes this movie so good? From what I think, I thinks it's a child's allegory for the 1950-60 segregation and Civil Rights movement. So far, I think Disney did a good job (if they really wanted to make an allegory) in portraying a time of racism to children in a way.
Like Nothing You've Seen "Be-Fur" I first heard of this when I caught the teaser back in 2015, but I was curious to know how exactly the story will play out. From the trailers, it looked like a classic mystery movie. When I watched the movie Thursday night, I did not expect a compelling dialogue about discrimination. Neither did I expect the type of chemistry the two main characters would develop with each other. Zootopia is definitely a must-see film which can easily sit alongside the other Disney classics.
More than a children's film Zootopia is a movie dedicated to the idea of equality. Not just between the two main groups (predators and prey) but this idea is extended to young and old people, gay and straight people, different nationalities and personalities. If ever there was a epitome of celebrating differences rather than being afraid of societal deviants, this is it.
Feminists vegan propaganda. Horrible. Predators going savage. I had to give my children to many talks during the movie. This is not how the world works. Next to Planes and Cars, crap. Walt would not let this happen
Awesome movie! I was a bit surprised to see a 4.9 on the star chart and was realy looking forward to this film. 5 stars awarded! Love this movie and glad i bought it. Alot of people say it had a lot of racism in it but you need to think outside the box. Its about... scratch that, not about humans! Animals developed differently for reason. And with so many differences things can get a little... how should i say it... Harry :) I see absolutely nothing wrong with this movie and a lot can be learned from it. Bravo Disney!
It's okay This was a very good movie, despite a crack conspiracy theory with some pretty good evidence. It had originality in the plot and setting, and it dealt with some real life problems that this generation's children should know about. It sends the right message to kids, which is basically don't judge a book by it's cover. Even though if it's not a good idea to try everything, cause your kid may try eating to much Halloween candy or eat a candlestick or something dangerous because of a song.
Amazing judy Omg! this been like the best Disney movie I've seen in years! I'm glad they made this movie, when I first saw the previews, I had the same doubts that zootopia was going to be like the rest of the disappointing Disney movies but I was...WRONG!!! Zootopia rules!!!
hello i have written this review because i enjoyed this movie a lot so mush i went to see it a second time id love to see a second movie as i saw in the ending i heard words that gave me the idea that on the second movie that the fox and the bunny are more than friend and i mean like being married if that is true then i would relay like to know and see that as well the correlating movie sing in true words i want to know is are you going to have them together as married. more about the movie is that i seen some parts that would be nice the have in their the thing the relay surprised me is the jump scare and why would you put that in a child movie. that is all i have to say please leave a comment if you have something so say about my review
Beyond Amazing!!!!" When I saw the trailer for this movie I thought it was going to be just another Disney movie. But I went to go see it this weekend and regret everything bad I said about it. As a teenager myself, It made me think that a lot of people today are too quick to judge and also to never quit even when people bring you down. The characters are lovable and memorable, the movie was excellent all together. I'm going to have to own this on Digital and in Bluray DVD. I recommend it, especially on 3D.
BLEW ME AWAY! Breathtaking film! CAN'T STOP WATCHING!!! The amount of detail that went into this movie is PHENOMANAL! From each character's fluid, personalized, stylized and animalized movements and reactions to certain scenarios down to the accurate sounds to the vibrant colors and even the research that went into make all of this possible. Disney studios are incredible for making this movie! The story is also a captivating story and the voice acting is superb. The scene with Judy apologizing to Nick almost made me cry as well. JUDY IS BEST BUNNY!💖
My favorite Disney movie ever. Sorry Frozen, someone's beat you as the best Disney movie ever. What makes this movie so awesome is that it relates to real life issues that were facing: political, discrimination, and everything in between but yet it's still a classic Disney movie that's great for everyone. To go into detail it has loveable characters, a catchy song, puns off pop-cluture things (like the Nike saying 'just do it' in the movie it says 'just zoo it') and it's funny. Believe me when I say you will want to see it again.
Disney has done it again! This movie is excellent, with a fresh touch of realism. It shows the hardships of moving someplace new, starting something new, and dealing with someone you don't like. Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin are both great as the main characters, but Bateman's fox character holds the spotlight. It also has one of the funniest scenes from any Disney movie ever. Also, making fun of real-world products and people is genius (the carrot phone, a goat version of Shakira). Best animated comedy!
Favorite Disney Movie To Date This movie was so under hyped that when I saw it for the first time, I didn't think it would be much. But I was absolutely blown away. It reminded me why I wanted to make movies. Disney is on its game.
Zootopia: Movie of the Century In my opinion, Zootopia is the movie of the century for so many reasons. It is action-packed and very interesting. It keeps you at the edge of your seat. When I saw the teaser trailer, I thought it was going to be an awful movie. However, watching a few clips online captured my attention. Now, all I can think about is watching Zootopia. I even got it for my birthday. The movie sends life-affecting messages that can influence you in a positive way. If you didn't watch it already, I suggest you do.
I enjoyed seeing it in the theater The story line was good and I liked Judy sticking up for the innocent predators and Nick and the cheeta running the office. I also liked the slow and funny sloths. We were all laughing. And I love the Try Everything song!!!!!! (: 😄💫🌈📦 Thanks for Ginnfer Goodwin playing Judy, I loved her on Once Upon A Time T.V. show series and on Last Tinkerbell movie as Fawn. She's awesome! I love watching her work!
Amazing. Pure perfection. I loved the movie. It was great. I would see it over and over. If they make a second one, they should have a cop that was friends with nick or the chief who they thought died but then he or she felt betrayed and comes back to get vengeance. If this is a thing I want credit Disney.
Out doing themselves Just when you think Disney could only decline down the mountain they built so high they add the peak to it. This is a true great.
