Defense attorney Richard Ramsay (Keanu Reeves) takes on a personal case when he swears to his widowed friend, Loretta Lassiter (Renée Zellweger), that he will keep her son Mike (Gabriel Basso) out of prison. Charged with murdering his father, Mike initially confesses to the crime. But as the trial proceeds, chilling evidence about the kind of man that Boone Lassiter (Jim Belushi) really was comes to light. While Ramsay uses the evidence to get his client acquitted, his new colleague Janelle (Gugu Mbatha- Raw) tries to dig deeper – and begins to realize that the whole truth is something she alone can uncover.

The film's closing minutes offer some parting pieces of information that upend some previously laid assumptions, but it's a grafted-on coda rather than a well-choreographed gut punch.
Dan Gunderman
If you want the whole truth, Courtney Hunt's new film is not so bad.
Brian Tallerico
The script for The Whole Truth is an "airport book," although it contains even less sizzle and grit than most of those.
Jeannette Catsoulis
Trundling along on the drone of Ramsay's pseudo-hardboiled voice-over, "The Whole Truth" plays like an especially claustrophobic courtroom procedural, drably photographed and generically framed.
Robert Abele
Instead of building tension, "The Whole Truth" lets it bleed out.
Tom Keogh
The film's bleached colors and Reeves' trademark woodenness add to its emotional remoteness, though Basso, Zellweger and Belushi create a convincing family in crisis.

So Renee's character goes free? Keanu character goes free? I'm confused . At the end when the son confronts Keanu's character I didn'e quite understand what he was saying, (the son) made up all those lies about his father to protect his mother even though all along he knew that it was Keanu who murdered the father? This movie was stupid. What was the point of this movie? Why wouldn't the son knowing all the facts go to the police? Dumb! Hollywood, Nice ,NO!
Terrible Boring, predictable, coupled with terrible acting for a worse plot. The only thing worse than the movie, is the ending of the movie. Don't put money in the pocket if anyone involved in this movie.
So boring, I fell asleep!! To bad bc I've always liked Reeves as an actor.
The Whole Truth Great suspense movie. A remarkable story. Keanu Reeves delivered a dark yet riveting adaption of a lawyer in trial defending the son of his mentor/ the deceased for murder. I rate this 5 stars all the way!
I don't know everyone hates this movie so much. I enjoyed it. I love crime dramas and this was a good one.
Weird, but entertaining Wish Keanu Reeves could act! Good story.
Great Awesome.movie, kept me interested. Reminded me of runaway jury which is the best of course.
