It should all resemble a vanity project except for one thing: The film lays out the case for reform with steadfast rigor.
Andrew Barker
"Before the Flood" may not tackle too much new ground, but given the sincerity of its message, its ability to assemble such a watchable and comprehensive account gives it an undeniable urgency.
Nick Allen
Another global warming warning sign, more honorable in its intentions than in having a distinct voice to ultimately make a difference.
Neil Genzlinger
This film promises early on to set itself apart by detailing specific things individuals can do to mitigate the environmental damage, but those suggestions end up being disappointingly few.
Robert Abele
"Before the Flood" is neither dull screed nor stat-heavy pamphlet, thanks largely to the questing intensity of its marquee guide.

Frustrating but frequently compelling ...

This movie is an excellent introduction to the problem we now face. It offers some hope, but only a limited amount. The best we can hope for from the Paris accord will be a reduction in the RATE of INCREASE of CO2 in the atmosphere from what it is now to something like what it was about 20 years ago. What we really need is to roll back our impact on the global climate to what it was 200 years ago, when that impact was first becoming evident. And then also finding a way to reduce the impact of the CO2 we've already put in the atmosphere and which natural mechanisms won't remove for at least another thousand years. And yet we need to provide everyone on the planet with access to affordable energy, so they all can thrive as the developed world countries have. There is a way we can do this, but it would require building a wholly different sort of energy and transportation infrastructure. I've written about this in a book titled "Avoiding Our Extinction, A Practical Plan" (see <avoidingourextinction.com> and spoken about in a talk titled "Thinking Rationally About Population Issues" which can be seen online at <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CAUIHGIPDA>.
Personal Beliefs Don't Trump Science So much good information. You don't have to be a "idiot liberal" like so many reviewers are saying to get something out of this. So many times you hear people say they don't believe in climate change, and why? Because they just don't, or based on bad corporate funded pseudoscience. We as the human race need to wake up and take action, we're acting like frogs in a pot coming to a slow boil ready to be cooked.
We're doomed This is truth, sadness, and revelation. If Denmark and Sweden and China can put renewable energy at the top of their priorities, there's no reason U.S.A. can't do the same. Cut the beef, fried foods, and vampire utilities for starters. Convert to solar energy. Push for a carbon tax. Lobby and protest. Think about your children and grandchildren.
Excellent documentary Now that we have Mr. Trump as president it is critical that everyone see this movie. I just could not believe my ears that he didn't believe in global warming, it influenced my vote, but he still won. I am telling anyone who will listen to watch this film. Very well done, it brought a lot of information to my attention and gave me hope that things can change if we all do our part. Unfortunately, we as Americans are self centered in our interests and really don't care about mother earth. Thank you Leo
I really wanted to watch this movie but every time i pulled it up there was always an error. I know it's free but i get so irritated. I don't know if it's the movie or google. there are a couple others as well. i guess my frustration is showing. I'm sure it would have been enlightening, if i could have seen it.
as a child i did my school project in the fifth grade on climate change based on things i'd read on my own outside of school (i'm 33), the fact that it was evident to a child then and still to this day is not a major political motivator for change, much more importantly a factor for industrial change given the massive profits already gained heading further down this road in ever faster and vast ways is a deplorable shame. this movie is a great piece of film that will hopefully help in opening more eyes in the public to the astoundingly dangerous road towards the largest migration of mobile species in history before it is too late, which detestably what the media conglomerates would have their ever shrinking viewer base believe is a hoax.
Stop politicizing environmental awareness The problem with this movie is that it demonizes the right and alienates conservatives and republicans. Promote the science of climate change more rather than politicize it and I think you'll find more progress. Polarizing the subject by politicizing it creates more deadlock to any progress.
Yes, it shows the devastation that climate change is already causing, and some of the awful effects. There's also a hopeful message, there is a lot we can do. The time for waiting, for inaction is behind us. You must be the change. There. Is. No. One. Else
it can really be motivational and persuasive for you to take actions.climate change is real. it doesn't mean it is increasing its just changing. also, just 1 degree difference that is because our earth was made perfect and we were supposed to take for it. one thing is the animals feel bad for them as you feel bad for yourself. we need to help those who are in need and protect our only planet. we shouldn't be afraid to go outside.climate change is bringing real problems to our only planet. just change your diet and protect the world.
This is a very informative documentary. Shows just how bad things are right now and how bad things are going to get in the future.
Wow all Republicans must be pissed lol Great work Leonardo. I'm sure you'll have some less Republican audience in your next movie. But I still admire your work that you were willing to take that risk.
Before the flood, as it says depicts the life before the flood and what happens if we failed to stop that flood. Movie dwells down into politics involved which is slowing down the migration from non-renewable to renewable source of energy. In the end as said by Leonardo, " we are the last best hope of earth. lets protect the earth or we and all living things we cherish are History."
Liked it Anybody who says global warming doesnt exist, well 2016 is the hottest year on record, there will be some how ever that dont believe that well its almost december in northern minnesota and theres no snow and we'v dipped below 32 degrees only twice so far over night and its thanksgiving today.
Those that don't believe that climate change exists are blind idiots, I only hope this documentary opens the eyes of a few. We need to change our ways asap, where it is probably too late already. Well done and very impressive work.
Very Informative I like to consider myself well informed on the issues, I knew about quite a few of the problems addressed, but I never really understood how they all linked together. This film does a wonderful job providing information and real world facts and a way to understand them better. My only hope is that more people watch this and become informed.
Before The Flood Climate Change Is Real! If We Don't Act We'll Leave A Desolate World To Our Grands Grands Where Darwinism Will Take On Very Personal Meaning To Our Descendants In Real Time...They May Not Escape :'( ACT! IT MAY ALREADY BE TOO LATE!
read freeman dyson instead about how climate "scientists" use fudge factors, desperate to earn a living on stupid people like you (without any iota of critical thinking)
We in double trouble Better hope Jesus flies in on his spacecycle or we are all screwed, or hit by a big asteroid...
Before the bull No real science here. Just conjecture and supposition. Really, the set of movie had to move 9k miles to find snow? What a croc!
Hidden New World Order agenda in plain sight. Are we so blinded? Where is here mention the rocket science , NASA, War for the oil. Etc etc
Before the Flood I was gonna rent this as soon as I finished watching the trailer. The fact that it's free makes it so much better. It was a great entertaining and informative movie that everyone needs to see whether they believe in Global Warming or not and if you don't this film may change your mind and get you to be proactive about this huge issue.
Amazing and very sad.. we have to do something whit that problem!
Can ya'll shut the hell up about "liberal" this or "Republican" that, this is a HUMAN issue caused by people. Nobody is immune simply because of your political affiliation assholes.
I was wrong I was sceptical about this film, but I liked the way it was unfolding the narrative and the simple language with effective visuals.
Yes The modern version of An Inconvenient Truth, at this point we shouldn't need to be reminded but I'm glad we are
Probably one of the more realistic viewpoints on climate change, and what each of us can realistically do to reduce carbon emissions. I highly recommend this for everyone to watch and think about. "The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it." - Neil DeGrasse Tyson
Well put together documentary There are still people out there that don't believe in this. This attitude blows my mind!
Must see We are in trouble if we don't stop Climate change and it is explained in this program.
Scary cause it's happening Everybody must see this. Recommend it. Those people who say against are old they wouldn't even be here on earth after a few years. They don't care about us. Revolucion America!
False advertising Commercial listed that it is for free everywhere but they're making people purchase it on here
Confused Why are the commercials for this documentary indicating it's available for free and it does plainly state that Google is one of the providers offering it for free....
Must watch Beautifully filmed. Visually stunning and horrifying at the same time. Already knew about some of the information presented but they went so much deeper in this documentary.
Liberal Garbage Retarded liberals made this. Retarded liberals will believe this. Retarded liberals are vagines and should be pooped on, including Google.
Outstanding doc For those who believe in the reality of climate change and especially those who deny, this provides the info needed to realize we have no more time.
Climate Change It is real and it scares the hell Out of me it is nice to see another powerful figure bring this issue to the table and tO make a wonderfully produced film FREE
Excellent!!! No matter what you think of Leo, this is a great film. No hysteria, no end-of-the-world (well, sort of). Watch it with an open mind then do your own research and learn your own truth.
Must see! If you care about the near future, this is a must. It's done well. No preaching, few talking heads. It's a movie, first, doc second, meaning in terms of viewing!
Watch this! Gloom and doom, but unfortunately that's the reality.
Pretty much everything that can be said about climate change, has been said. This documentary basically repeats everything only with more recognizable faces. We have the undeniable facts in front of us, it's what we choose to do with the knowledge is what we do.
Incredible documentary about Climate Change that must be watched The best part is that Leo wants us to see it so much that he allows us to watch it for free and share it with others. He gives us a message that we need to know now.
