From Mike Judge, one of the creative minds behind Beavis and Butt-Head, King of the Hill, and Office Space, comes an outrageous sci-fi comedy that'll make you think twice about the future of mankind. Meet Joe Bowers (Luke Wilson). He's not the sharpest tool in the shed. But when a government hibernation experiment goes awry, Bowers awakens in the year 2505 to find a society so dumbed-down by mass commercialism and mindless TV programming that he's become the smartest guy on the planet. Now it's up to an average Joe to get human evolution back on track! Filled with razor-sharp sarcasm and outrageous sight gags, Idiocracy will make you laugh out loud whether you're an absolute genius or a complete idiot!

Ann Hornaday
If the world is going to hell in any number of handbaskets -- as Judge so acutely demonstrates that it is -- you might as well hitch a ride in his.
J. R. Jones
The movie is bracing for its bile but ultimately more frustrating than funny.
Nathan Rabin
Working on a sprawling canvas, Judge fills the screen with visual jokes, throwaway gags, and incisive commentary on the ubiquity of advertising.
Carina Chocano
Judge has a gift for delivering brutal satire in the trappings of low comedy and for making heroes out of ordinary people whose humanity makes them suspect in a world where every inch of space, including mental, is mediated.
Robert Abele
It's a low-boil affair from the Office Space auteur that wears out its dumb-and-dumbest playbook early on.
Sheri Linden
Often stingingly funny -- and an undeserving resident of the summer's-end movie dumping ground.

From the director of Office Space! This movie is stupid, yes, but it's stupidly funny and that's why I enjoy it. You can unfortunately see a possible future where this happens. I enjoyed the characters and the story because it's a good idea and just plain fun. Don't look for an amazing plot but watch it if you want to laugh at how stupid humanity can be.
Brilliant and Prescient So brilliant, the powers that be almost censored it. Despite its light tone, this movie may be the comedy version of a "Network" for our times - it's so important. Everyone I know who has seen this movie has the same reaction: 1) This dystopian future could never actually happen, but it's hilarious. 2) Wait...is this dystopian future already happening? 3) This dystopian future started happening decades ago. Judge's brilliantly executed, highbrow-hidden-in-the-lowbrow, sprawling vision and warning of a future gone too stupid and decadent to remember which end of the medical instrument goes in which end of the patient (much less its own science or history) ultimately represents a far more plausible vision than we all want to think about. Unmissable AND enjoyable; a rare duo.
A depressingly accurate social commentary. Like all great dytopian futures the world of idiocracy is of course presented with a handful of hyperbole and flourish, but the kernel of truth rings true. Not an amazing piece of cinema but worth watching for hitting the social commentary nail squarely on the head.
Required viewing for those with an I.Q. larger than their shoe size. Does reality T.V. make you feel like you're watching a crystal ball focused on the future? Tired of Honey Boo Boo, teen girls spawning like sturgeon and the Pawn "Stars"? Watch this film. While you won't feel better, you will see what's coming.
Fluoride the water and our toothpaste The car is on fire and there´s no driver at the wheel. and the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides and a dark wind blows. The government is corrupt. And we are all on so many drugs with the radio on and the curtains drawn. We are trapped in the belly of this horrible machine and the machine is bleeding to death. The Sun has fallen down and the billboards are all leering and the flags are all dead at the top of their poles.
Great plot and story acting and script so-so This movie is average due to mediocre acting(3 stars) and a script which is only slightly better(3.5 stars), but the story and plot are 5 stars maybe 10
If you're an idiot, this is your documentary A movie that's comedy is so highbrow stupid it probably went well over the heads of most. It paints the future world of humans (most specifically, stupid Americans) as blindingly dumb and commercial. Maybe it hit a nerve with most folks out there, but I thought it was hysterical.
Its America living in the cage we built for ourselves. Julio it's dumb on purpose. Just watch people everywhere you go these days and your brain cells are gonna hurt just the same ha.
