Blessed with a loose, anarchic B-picture soul that encourages you to enjoy yourself even when you're not quite sure what's going on, the scruffy Guardians is irreverent in a way that can bring the...
Richard Corliss
The lightly derisive, live-action-cartoon tone robs the movie of any majesty, even of the comic-book type, and the many violent deaths of their suitable gravity.
J. R. Jones
These meager pleasures are swallowed up in all the frantic action and overblown CG sequences.
Bruce Diones
Chris Pratt, overflowing with charisma, plays the leader of the pack of misfits, and his blissed-out space cowboy (with a love for seventies music) is so full of good will that he buoys the film...
Christy Lemire
Director and co-writer James Gunn brings a giddiness and a wondrous, endless sense of why-the-hell-not? possibility that's reminiscent of Star Wars.
Michael Sragow
Pratt is their prime asset for turning the comedy up to 11. With him playing Star-Lord, you never question what Quill brings to the team: a sparkling, cracked esprit de corps.

Would have been great After watching 3 times on google play rent...I finally got to watch all the good parts without bad hesitation .....loved the movie itself.. ...great story made even better by its presentation ...but because the problems.. I did not enjoy it as much as I should have today...wasted money on this service...
Really good and funny movie. They made Rocket Racoon a really funny character, and Drax pretty useless. I mean, he looks all strong but looses almost every fight. And Ronan was too strong, so there wasn't much of a final battle but overall, good movie. I can't wait for Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 and how they will interact with the avengers and spidey
I dare say this is truly an Epic. This movie is one hell of a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. A simple tip. Don't go into it with expectations. Seriously. It helps. That said, with its few flaws, like lack of character development. Yes this movie doesn't do a whole lot of character depth, but what it does do is just enough to help you enjoy the characters. Comedy is good and is placed right, but you might miss some of it if you've lived under a rock. There's comedy for both children and adults. I attribute it to subtle humor.
Fantastic Disregard the negative comments on here if you're a comic book fan and also have any interest in The Infinity Gauntlet series. In addition to playing with that as back-story regarding Thanos' involvement, this movie is one of the best of Marvel's to date. It's action-packed, humorous and has great portrayals of the guardians themselves. I honestly don't think I have anything negative to say about the movie and can't wait till the next one!
One of my Favorite movies of 2014 I'll admit, when Marvel announced this movie, I had no clue who the Guardians were. But when I saw the first trailer, I was blown away. I was fortunate enough to see it in an IMAX theater in 3D, and I couldn't stop marveling(pun intended) over the movie. From the killer soundtrack to the snarky attitude of some of the characters, this movie had me "Hooked On a Feeling". It felt like Star Wars meets the Avengers, combining the space opera feel with Marvel's trademarks. I'm looking forward to the sequel and where director James Gunn takes it. If you haven't seen it yet, I strongly recommend it to everyone. It stands out from the rest of Marvel's cinematic universe, so you'll be fine if you haven't seen every single Marvel movie before this.
People and critics will hate... If people do not like this movie... MAKE SOMETHING BETTER! I hae watched this movie 7 times now! (I HAVE BEEN COUNTING) and it NEVER gets old! It is so PERFECT on EVERY level! And to all the people that say this movie is bad... Why don't you try to make a movie that millions of people will watch? Or at least give it a three star and say it has flaws! Why don't you give your bad reviews to that wrechet movie that came out.. that would be wayy better! Dang what has The United States come to in movie taste...
Awesome! There's only one reason I'm not giving it 5 stars: cheese. Not the literal kind, the cheesy parts near the end. Why does Drax talk about friendship as they're goin aboard the Dark Aster? Other than stuff like that I really like this movie. First one in a long time I watched twice in so few days in between. There's a certain Farscape vibe too, a good thing, with Quill being the sole human character.
I am grootesquely in love Since I saw the trailer, I knew I wanted to se this movie. It's funny, full of action and good sad moments. This movie has it all. Rocket is my favorite but everyone else are just a strong of characters. Can not stop thinking about the next movie. The CG is one of the best and it fits with the movie, is a space opera.
Genuinely Fun! Maybe it's the contrast against the almost unbearably sad opening scene which propels the rest of the film so high, but from that point on "Guardians of the Galaxy" is non-stop fun. The music is perfect; the characters, both live and created, are consistent and engaging; and the story is just as outrageous as any superhero comic could hope to offer. I expected to enjoy the film, my wife did not but laughed repeatedly while watching it and still quotes from it now and then, an impact few other movies have ever had on her.
Love Comics! Wasn't able to see this movie in theaters. I kept on reading great reviews about this movie. Finally I was able to sit down and watch it at home. The reviews DON'T lie, it's a GREAT action movie. Keeps you wanting to see it all the way to the end. GREAT job MARVEL! WELL deserved 5 stars.
Too vulgar?!! Seriously?! There is some crude humor here and there, but it's hilarious and brilliantly done. Ppl are way too easily offended, protective, and soft in this country now. Anyways, it's probably my favorite movie in over 15 years. The plot, acting, cgi, the soundtrack and characters; are all friggin awesome. If you think this movie is vulgar then you should probably just never watch anything but G rated movies..
I'm not a comic book guy... But this movie is seriously GREAT! The cast is perfect & the jokes are delivered in an understated way that some people might not even understand or “get". My sense of humor is kind of sarcastic and this movie tickled my funny bone immensely. Good times for the whole family on this one!
WOW As with other people here, I have not really ever heard of Guardians Of The Galaxy ever, like once in Spiderman with Nova knowing them. I had heard it might be cheesy, but I know how Marvel makes movies now, and I knew it would be worth at least watching. I am completely amazed by how great the Movie is, I Love every Character. I originally thought by seeing the commercial that having 2 muscles on a 5 man team was dumb, but it is not whatsoever. StarLord is Awesome, I Love the dance scenes!!!!
Was entertaining but Im a little disappointed, the support cast is packed with awesome actors but they barely got any screen time. I do enjoy some comic relief but it contained a little too much cheesy one liners for my taste. I still enjoyed watching it, but I wouldn't consider it as one of marvel's best ones.
To Infiniti and beyond This is not your average space movie. It is the beginning of a new space story and the lead character is a guy you would like to hate. The visual effects are stunning the locations are out of this world and three little words will bring tears to your eyes. I had a blast watching this movie. Lots of action, pushes the envelope and makes you feel like first time you saw that other unconventional space story.
